  1. Repos has fuel and Kanawata to the north of Repos has fuel as well. That is true you will pay more, but as my dad taught me many years ago, these machines don't push easily if you run out. Good advice from wise man.
  2. Anyone have any updates on either of these new trails?
  3. As my father told me almost 30 years ago when we got into this sport, snowmobiles.....they don't push easily. Stop for gas and don't be stupid!
  4. Very well done sir. You are a true ambassador to the sport and to Quebec. Thank you!
  5. Did they change the trails or did you do other riding? With Casey now closed a few years, gas became a bigger issue in that area. I thought Cabanon to Windigo last year on 345/83 was 230 miles and 10 was on the Windigo entrance road and if Relais 22 is about another 20 miles past Windigo that's like 240 miles total. If you did 347 miles, can you confirm then you did some other approx 100 miles of sightseeing? Planning on being back in that area and want to make sure nothing was rerouted. Also 240 miles is about 350kms so are you sure you're not in kms? Thanks, I don't want to have any gas issues this year and we gas at Repos or Kanawata as well. By the way the pics look great and I'm jealous IM not there now on the smooth trails you're having!! Awesome!!
  6. Thanks for the pic. I decided to go with the Powderkeg Combo Pak setup after doing some research. Keeps everything on the tunnel and within the boundaries of the tunnel without things sticking out on each side. Appreciate you posting.
  7. I haven't gotten it yet but he told me to use a quarter to shim the brackets. Very nice man on the phone and offered to take me through install if the directions weren't clear.
  8. Yes it's much better at Cabanon than The reservation.
  9. Yes this year is less expensive for Americans to visit Quebec not only due to the favorable exchange rate but also the decrease in the price per liter of gas. When the rate gets back to 1.50, I will hedge out the exposure and convert 4-5 years worth of sled trip costs equivalent at that time. If rates go back to 1:1, then I'm the only smart one in the room "still" getting 1.50. Obviously, you have to have the cash to do that, but it pays for itself if you're like me and go to QC every year.
  10. I just ordered a Powderkeg 700 Combo Pak for my 2011 1200 Renegade with 137 track. Much sleeker setup than LinQ gas caddy and saddlebags/tunnel bag. It's a bit more expensive but I recently heard good things about them.
  11. The U.S. has signaled an end to Quantitative Easing and because of economic strength (or at least the prettiest girl in an international ugly girl pageant) plans to raise interest rates in 2015. International money then flows to the USD making it stronger currency. On the other hand, Canadas economy is largely resources related and the recent drop in oil prices is having a negative impact on oil sands business as US fracking is more profitable at these and lower oil levels. Last week, the Canadian Govt, due to this weakness, surprised markets and CUT interest rates and the belief is there maybe more cuts which lowers the attractiveness of Canadian dollar. My expectation is we see 1.30-1.40 exchange rate by December 2015 and 1.50 in 2016. Yes I do this for a living.
  12. For those wishing we could be riding today. Only 1 inch of snow on ground here in NJ at my house.
  13. Thanks for the IM. See topic response above to Linda. I want to use my existing cloth saddlebags which are straps, but add the LinQ fuel caddy and either these Rigid Saddlebags or a Tunnel bag that can sit on top of fuel caddy. My dealer tells me fuel caddy and tunnel bag, one right behind other, will NOT fit on tunnel of my 2011 1200 Gade.
  14. Do you have them setup with the Fuel Caddy? If so, can you post pic? Normally I have cloth saddlebags and tunnel bag for loop trips, but no fuel caddy. I want to add fuel caddy without sacrificing carrying abilities. Trying to see if fuel caddy with these new saddlebags OR the BRP Semi rigid tunnel bag, which BRP catalog says works with fuel caddy would be the better option. I will need fuel caddy and cloth saddlebags..the decision is which additional tunnel bag or these saddlebags can be added and functionally works.
  15. Curious. Why did you sell these? Looking to put Linq fuel caddy with these saddlebags on my 2011 Renegade 1200. Did they work but you just didn't like the look?
  16. Yes they had good pizza And yes we brought in everything.
  17. That is correct. One year in a blizzard that just dumped 8-12 inches of snow during the day, we had dinner at Repos. The owner told us the road led to St Michel. We rode it all the way to that turn off. Then because of snow cover, we made a left at the T and rode it straight into downtown St Michel. That was a fun night and fast track back into town.
  18. Many years ago it was the only place to buy gas as Repos had not been known by many or at least my group. We went into Manawan and got gas. A small restaurant serves pizza and we were hungry. I had an old Polaris so no one was stealing it! Anyways as we were pumping gas two Skandic sleds pull by with tobaggins and each one was towing a moose. Must have come back from some hunting expedition. They must have been baby moose or else those Skandics have fairly strong motors.
  19. Absolutely much better! Thanks. And exchange rate was around 1.05 last year now around 1.20. I remember when it was 1.5-1.6 around 6-8 years ago. If it gets there again, I'm converting some dollars to loonies, Moose and Queens.
  20. Or you will have to go to Parent. South of Parent is a nice place called Le Fer al Cheval which I believe is open this winter.
  21. Is that sans or super sans?
  22. Sweet pics. They are awesome. Jealous but glad you are having ideal conditions. I assume you have the Linq auxiliary gas can and side hard saddleboxes? I was considering put them on my Gade 1200...like the setup.

That Saccacomie Lodge is just awesome. Had dinner there once. Expensive to stay there but it's a grand place!
