  1. A brown bear in the Gaspe, never knew they were there, they can be a little dangerous especially with cubs and in the fall while on their last feed.
  2. looks like it could be a really great season if the weather holds out, chances of that are really good so we can be tortured a little more.
  3. That really sucks, stuck in the city and having to do that, out in the country I can ride out my drive way, do not want to do that, it sure is not Canada. I feel your pain Jim, if you cannot sled I hope you can find a way to get away for a few weeks, be well, Bob.
  4. coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-travel.advisory........41 states now on the quarantine list to enter NY...as of 10/28. Any state with more than 10 positive cases per 100k on a 7 consecutive day rolling total....must quarantine for 14 days and cannot rent a B&B, hotel, etc. Mass is not on the list ...YET..... We are leaving in the morning for 6 days of steel head fishing, we called a few moments ago...still OK TO GO, BUT THEY TOLD US....IF YOU GO ON THE LIST WHILE YOU ARE HERE...YOU MUST CHECK OUT AND GO HOME.
  5. please open that @&)%@#_ border!!
  6. Funny how things like that work out, Hunter is on tape agreeing that he probably would have never had any business over seas if Joe was not VP, still gets a pass on being corrupt. At least we got a good court out of Trump, ABC will keep AOC in-check!!
  7. Very happy to see her confirmed, no one found anything on her, and it is entirely wrong to not support some one with this kind of a background because she is a republican or a catholic. Main thing, she believes in the oath to protect and enforce the constitution. Every politician takes this oath and most never do it, at the top of the legal chain this court will put some teeth into that all important document for a few decades to come!!
  8. The party is over??? Beginning to sound like gun control in the US.....drunk driving has always been illegal.....I almost never see this out on the trail.....it is a very small minority....usually younger, local kids at the neighborhood bar on Friday night. Just a great opportunity for those who dislike sledding when they find the ear of a politician. I never heard that the guys who fell thru the ice were drunk nor did I see it in print....just a horrible accident. It is early and this is a big business that accounts for tons of employment. It is grossly incorrect to categorize the sport as a whole.I try hard to stay out of town,, those check points can tie up a lot of time...and for the most part 99% of the people in the line are in compliance.
  9. Now there is a real possibility of a vaccine in a few weeks....I am hoping it is true ...and that people who get the vaccine will be able to travel again. I will be feeling like a 12 year old going to Disney world on summer break if we can cross that border to ride by Jan 1st!! I love riding my bike, hunting with my Lab and chasing trout with my fly rod, but nothing seems to re-kindle my spirit or recharge my soul quite like Quebec's majestic winters and the camaraderie out on the trail..Last season started a few weeks from now...here is to hoping, right now it is all we have!!
  10. If you get up, work hard, earn a lot of money and do well, you have become part of the problem and too many believe a part of what you ran hard fore belongs to those who were not pulling their end of the rope, Houston we have a problem!
  11. Tough to look at , I am shooting pheasants with my lab and packing my fishing gear for a week of steel head fishing the 1st week of November, trying not to think about how much I am going to miss Quebec this winter, rode 5400 miles last season, still fresh in my mind . I missed a week of brook trout fishing North of Parent this past spring, hope those outfitters are OK, they do a lot of business with Americans.
  12. With a new Supreme Court Justice hopefully the Bill of Rights and Constitution will be safe....I fear they will want to turn the ship around 180 degrees and the next 4 years will be kayos like we have never seen. Instead of hating each other wouldn't it be nice if they could at least admit this was a great economy and agree to only tweak things moving forward to see if they could grow it from there. After all the most important part of life is being able to get up each day and go out and work to support your family, nothing else even matters if you cannot do that. These are troubling times for sure.
  13. Really great post, right on the money...you really cannot make this up....if herd immunity is going to work...we will definitely be finding out...one way or another....quite an experiment!!
  14. absolutely correct, metro areas have a big density and rural areas do not, take a city like Montreal, do the percentage and the numbers are bad, go into a rural area with the same population the numbers are good. Like that all over our country, rural counties that are barely touched and 100 miles away cities are hot spots. I am beginning to think it will be near impossible to eradicate the virus in cities where 1200 people live in a high rise using the same elevator or stair and hallways, this is a real mess, nobody knows what the winter will bring, I hope masks, gloves and sanitizer will put a dent in it and moving forward we will get through it. Everyone should at the very least, get their sleds running and get that fuel out and replace it with non ethanol if they are not riding state side. I hope our dealers all get through this winter, looks like the traffic there is going to be way down.
  15. Trudeau just minutes ago has announced that the US/Canadian border will stay closed until he feels the US has this virus under control . He also warned Canadians not to visit the US because of the poor health care in the states. On a per population Percentage basis, Canada is no better off, but that is irrelevant, countries all over the world are having trouble reining the virus in. We have good health care here, you just have to pay dearly for it, so if from Canada and in the states, maybe you need to make arrangements to see if you have coverage, just like I do before I go out of the country, nothing new here. I guess we can say the nail is most likely in the coffin for this season. Anyone traveling anywhere is basically at risk, no matter where you live or where you are going, including thanksgiving dinner with your family, all about individual due diligence, be well, Bob.
  16. very nice , this is a long time coming but a much needed upgrade, no more fuel problems!!
  17. Amazing, cannot drive but you can fly, seems much safer to be alone or in a much smaller group in your car rather than having to go into an airport and be seated with 150 other passengers in close quarters for hours , then negotiate another airport. Just seems like common sense to me. Believing that we all live in 2 free countries some of these rules seem like people are being punished , but have broken no law. It is time to standardize the rules on both sides and inject a little common sense into it at the same time.We are going to be in this another year ,but I think we can do better than this.
  18. I guess your daughter giving birth is no longer a reason of compassion under somebody's interpretation , bad judgement on some ones part. Maybe she needs some official paper work to be able to comply with the rules, but it does seem a little over the top. You would think or hope if it was any where near legitimate the issue would be quickly resolved. I am sure this would be heart breaking for any mother/daughter!!
  19. It is already starting to hurt knowing that it will take a miracle to ride this season.
  20. Andy, it is very clear that politics plays little in the reality of covid. All around the globe there is a struggle to beat this down. Even countries with the best laid plans cannot contain it. We are in desperate need of a vaccine, even if it only works on 50% of those who get it. Time to start working together and realizing that each persons own individual behavior is extremely important between now and then, we probably have another year in front of us, so in order to keep every one going we all need to do our own due diligence , here is to wishing everyone on here a healthy future.
  21. Exactly the same here, it always feels like I going home when I hit the trail, did a solo 2000 mile ride last season at 62, everyday was a great adventure catching up with friends and meeting them out on the trail, nothing better!!
  22. Absolutely the very best part of being out on the trail has been all the friendships I have been able to cultivate over the last 32 years, with riders and lodge owners and their employees.Never once have I ever considered the color of anyone's skin, what church they go to, who or where they live, or what they do for a living. Only thing that matters is we treat one another properly. The camaraderie out on the trail is equal to being out on the road riding a motorcycle, where everyone is quick to lend a helping hand for anyone in need.I have been most fortunate to meet a lot of people out there with these qualities. I spent a week with snow master last March, our official ambassador of indigenous affairs. Anyone who is on here and followed his posts, knows well he lives by these standards, as do many more. MIKE THANK YOU FOR THIS POST, IT IS ALL THAT REALLY MATERS AT THE END OF EACH DAY, BE WELL, BOB.

The good news is that they will be reopening, hopefully we can put this behind us by next fall, but I do believe it is clear that being indoors this winter is too big of a risk. I hope they can be open during the warm months for ATV when being inside is not such an issue. This is only the start of this news, here is to wishing for the very best to our friends North of the border, who have worked tirelessly for us and our enjoyment over the years.
  24. Mike, we have a camp on Umbagog by the Rapid River. You are right North West Maine is very nice, like you said, weekends will be busy, both Maine and New Hampshire saw a tremendous amount of growth this year in the ATV riders, I am sure with Canada closed to us there will be a lot more sleds this year. Tuesday thru Thursday will be nice.
