Hello Mike, Glad to see that the conditions are improving around RDL. Plan to come up the 7th of Feb. Have you heard anything about Quebec enforcing a no studded track law ? There are some post talking about it but no one seems to have a definitive answer....John

I'm headed up to Hotel Universal on Saturday 2/14/15 for a week of riding day loops out of RDL. Can anyone give me a recent trail conditions report ? Also last year after a trip around the Gaspe I went in to town to Club Monroe and it appeared to be closed for renovations. Can anyone advise if it is currently open with adult entertainment ? Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer info on these two matters.

Thanks Mike for the update. There is a little snow predicted for RDL on Saturday hopefully it will happen. Added ice scratchers to both sleds for cooling purposes. Headed up to RDL on Sunday and we'll see how it goes. If you get to Jonquiere let me know as we might head up there if RDL doesn't work out...................John

Hi Mike, The trip around the Gaspe went pretty good. The first day out I had some overheating problems due to the hard packed conditions. Stopped at the Cat dealer in Point-ala-Croix on Tuesday and picked up a set of ice scratchers which cured the problem. The trails too the south especially from New Richmond too Chandler had a lot of ice and water holes. Also got caught in rain for the Tuesday afternoon ride, always fun. Wednesday we saw sun and great view of the "rock" at Perce. Thursday we dropped down into Murdochville and rode from there to La Cache and up to Matane. The interior trails were plush with snow and the riding was great. Myself and one of my Vietnam buddies are heading up to Hotel Universal on Sunday morning. We plan to ride day loops out of there for the week. He is a new rider and has some disability issues from being "over there" so we won't be pounding it too hard. Are you staying at Universal this time ? John

Anybody have any up to date info on the Bas St. Laurent trails ? I did the loop around the Gaspe last week and on Friday coming in the trails near the Hotel Universal were pretty beat. I plan to come up next week and ride day loops out of the Hotel. Also stopped down to Club Monroe for a beverage last Friday and it was closed. Does anyone know if they relocated or where one might find adult entertainment in RDL ? Thanks for any info provided.

Thanks Mike for the info. We're coming up regardless. Two of the people in our group still work for a living and had to juggle their vacation time. I see the Gaspe map is still showing good all the way around the loop hopefully it will work out. To wulsock1 I have been staying at the Universal several times a year for the past 10 years or so and have never had a problem getting a room even on short notice. John

Thanks Mike, How long are you in RDL for ? I believe we road together with Saqueny Bill up at Lac St. Jean a few years back. Were not leaving Central NY until Sunday morning if you get updates I would greatly appreciate it..................John

I see the weather for Saturday does not look good. Sunday looks a little better. I was mainly curious as to whether or not anyone has done the loop recently and how the trails are leaving Hotel Universal and RDL.

I'm looking to make the loop around the Gaspe starting out on Mon. 1/13/14 from Hotel Universal. I have been watching the conditions for the past couple of weeks and they have shown the trails to be good. I noticed today that several on the South shore are now showing risky to acceptable conditions. I have made the loop 3 times in the past but never this early in the season. Any information that could be offered regarding trail conditions would be greatly appreciated. Will be taking 5 days returning to RDL on Friday. Thank You for any info provided.

Mike, Planning on coming up to Hotel Universal on Sunday Jan. 20th to ride for a week. Any info you could provide on the latest trail conditions would be appreciated. I see today that they changed the trail report for Bas St Laurent from green/good to yellow/limited. You probably don't remember me but we rode together a few years ago with Saguenay Bill out of Jonquiere.Thanks John Wood

We rode out of Universal on 1/31 thru 2/6 and the trails were in great shape. We had 3 guy's with us in their 80's and they even managed to put on 800 miles. That trip was a change from St Zenon due to trail conditions as this one is also.........John

I have reservations for the HI in Jonquiere starting Sunday for a week. From what I have been reading the trails are beat pretty bad up there. I was wondering if any one could give me an update as to trail conditions out of the Hotel Universal in Riviere-du-Loup ? I canceled in St Zenon back in Jan and rode out of there and the trails were great I was wondering if anyone could provide an update as to how they are holding up ?.....Thanks John

I have reservations at the HI in Jonquiere for next week starting on Sunday. I know that Saquenay Bill is leaving and was wondering if I should cancel ? By the sounds of things the trails are pretty beat. The weather next week looks colder at night but still 30's in the day. I was wondering if anyone had any recent updates. It's a 500mile plus trip for me and would appreciate any advice/info...............Thanks John
