  1. Best thelmet out there for trail riding...But when off trail , too much restriction for breathing and then the moisture from sweat and the snow swirls around inside the helmet when in deep powder. My goggles fog when I get too hot But only when I start to drive fast out of the cuts,....but I carry an xtra pair. For the ride back. But have a pair of heated ones for when on trails with my wife,so if I go off for a bit then come back on with just a bit of heat from me and poooof the lenses will fog...heated goggles for trailing..But when its stupid cold...My son and I put on our Moddular BRP helmets...the only good thing from BRP...lol... jack
  2. All sledders welcome. www.gaspe-snowmobile-adventures.com Someone will ride with you or maybe even in a group. No more than 7-8 in a group counting 1 or 2 guides.More means things get tracked up too fast. Also can spend more time with the newbies.Unless you dont want to and you would rather go on your own. Then we can give you info. But we do not call it guiding cause we are there to have fun too.You can get prices from the site..jack
  3. This is from a friend who hates the weathernet...he says they are liers...lol...so this is the real deal...on top of 2 feet..st jerome ...30 ks north of montreal.. .jack
  4. I have the same drive.8-9 hours .But use to go to mont valin..3 hours shorter..but then 50-75 ks on sled just to get to where we would be with less people to ride off trail..Every day..Love to cut tracks..So the 3 hours more to gaspesie and then the 5 min ride out the back yard to where no one is..you think I made the right decisition..lol..The pictures get better when I ride all through April.....jack
  5. Montreal very wet snow with rain...10 ks north of the city..40+ cm already...some stupid numbers they are talking about..shall put them up when they are confirmed by friends of my...BUT no one is anwering their phones..wonder why..lol... jack
  6. Cabanon is for me too...The trails are groomed from the door..all the groomers 4 of them are there..It has it all..For snow...lol...lanaudier just got 25-35 cm and on friday night 35-45 cm through sat....lol...theres snow..This is all the north shore of the st laurence river...check the FCMQ...if its says closed then just call...they are going to be strict this year..no off trail or even closed trails...yes its only legal when the trail says open..insurance will tell you that and so will the cops.. Im pretty sure everyone is grooming and no one is around to post...lol... thin snow is only south of montreal..if any jack
  7. I shall be waitting..The best part about trying something new...is all the laughs and good times doing it..Its more fun to be with newbies, than with my friends that know how to ride..You can learn..its easy..My wife can do it. .lol.... happy holidays guys.. jack
  8. Have fun boys...35-45 cm friday ..on the 20-30 they just got...enjoy. jack
  9. P.M. Towing. Alain will be riding from somewhere around there this weekend. Its his back yard..lol..You can be in his report.
  10. I see bear out look right behind my place. The one on the fence.I see I think is mont-louis .And also at the gas station in la martre..The trail along there and the one from merdochville to le cache and then continue to sant-anne-des-mont I think is the most beautifull secnery in Quebec..
  11. Here is my new member of the herd.Had a different hudge chrome bumper put on and the hand guards and skid plate plus the bag on the tunnel since this pic..( but its in Mattan ) I think the 2012 My wife bought my son is better than this one.But time will tell..Shes a twin of the one we got last year. Now the herd is 50/50...No I would never sell my S.C. yam..need something to tow the Polarisks ..2 other friends bought them....lol...My wife rides backcountry and trails..her attak is better than a 2-smoke for that. jack
  12. Nice Alain..Looks like they are calling for snow instead of rain this friday..You must be driviing from work..Or did you get a snow day
  13. We have air medic..lol..I have seen it but we live in quebec..When they have drags in Mont Valin they bring a hellicopter in for the drags..But its gone far away after that..You americans know how to rescue..we have no special unites to do these things..not in Quebec..it will be a fireman or cop most of the time with no real rescue training.. search and rescue ..we do not have a unite in quebec that does just that.waiting for a call.so its a long time before someone will come and get you...remember this is QUEBEC..My friend who lives in gaspesie is a fire jumper..yep from a helicopter..but it is only there in the summer.and its one of those bubble hellocopters.so will spot work here..yes but whos going to get you..they will have to put a search team together..Who knows how long that will take..In the rest of canada you have teams for this.Quebec is not as advanced for rescue..you dont believe me then just try it..I dont use a spot ..We depend only on us.These things give you the false feeling of being safe. This is quebec its just not the same ..I am sure that most cops etc in Quebec dont really know what it is..I dont want a cop or fireman looking for me..I want a guy who knows how to use a gps and is trained for rescue in the woods or mountains. Just dont put all your faith into it...still use your gps and bring gear...lighter and small saw etc..this way you can build a fire and wait for daylight..I know from my sister ( rcmp ) its better in ontario than here .We still believe here in Quebec that you dont hike, snowmobile or anything else in the backcountry...So we depend on someone going buy on a trail..Or that the rescue will be made on a trail..If your off the trail tooooo bad.Thats the attitude here cause you cant ride off trail everywhere.Lots of private land near the cities. So how good is spot where you are when you need it..thats what it really boils down to..We should adopt the same attitude as out west...ITS A LIFE..not just same ass going off trail or getting lost snowshoeing in the backcountry.Just my oppinion.... jack
  14. Hey Linda. My son got an e-mail from a guy that grooms down there..he was grooming yesterday..just before amqui..Looks great..Too bad most of the snow will fall around Quebec city..the next one looks even bigger...
  15. Like I said..the trails are open from mont-st-piere to la Martre..just before saint-anne-des-monts..This is where the snow is always the best..thanks to the snow squalls which add to the snow fall..You can ride the roads and atv trails etc.Its winter.. The trails all over quebec north of the river...will all be open by the weekend.but if there are rivers and streams to cross, that might make the trail limited, but everyone is getting lots of snow..jack
  16. The trails are only busy when you get near Gaspe or any other big town.Lots of locals use sleds ( gaspesie car ) .And there is usually some roads and local trails . .Where we are sometimes its days before 2-4 sleds go by .# 5 north shore. We are on the north shore between saint-anne-des-mont and grand valle..in the middle..This is where the big mountains are that you can ride..yes you ride some big stuff on the trail from la cache to murdochville..but you are not aloud to ride off the trail in the park which is most of that trail..On the north shore some sick cliffs you ride along and also lots of riding off trail..Did I mention more snow than anywhere else in gaspesie..Ride till may.In the mountains..the trails closed for 3 days where we are.Rode the roads and it was a blast.Glad we all had mountains for the 5 feet and the 6 + feet at 2500 feet..
  17. The first is at sealevel..the next at the bridge . 1500 where we launch in mid april to the end.then they go up to where the sled hit a stump,,its 4 feet deep and at 2500..no harm to the sled.Just starting to get some good base .lots of gravel cause of no base..below 1500..Last week you had to drive to the bridge 14k to that place by truck.Still early.Ask my buddy who hit the stump..These pics are before the storm hit at lunch.then they could barely see.so there is another 20cm on the ground since those pics were taken. jack
  18. Hey Groomer..how are ya..nice pics but wheres the snow.We have more at the den..but not much more..lol..but today yes...I hope you guys get some today from the system going by...Looks like snow where you are too..I hope they do the trail here next monday..who might tell me this..If we get what they say in the next 3 days then there should be enough snow. There was lots in the mountains ,but we did lose some. You can ride but its up the gravel road for 10-15 k by trailer .and then just on the roads. But its 2-3 feet..As usual area X got alot.Should be able to leave from the coast this wendsday..Might still be thin but just dont spin the track..Keep those great pics coming jean-guy...........jack Artsled....thats an awwwwsum pic..lol..I hope to see her in the Mountains..
  19. So looks like Mont Valin is toast.. .my friend just told me they have 5-6 inches and its custy and icey... But on the other hand..mountainforecast says for the next 6 days below 0 above 1500...yep its winter in the mountains of the north shore of gaspesie...In area X where we ride there is 3 feet...and its not all crusty....also they expect more snow on monday...everywhere else seems to be borderline or rain...I shall ride the 25 dec till maybe again mothers day..should be a great chirstmas holidays...Thats why we bought a place there..tiered of no snow and the crouds at valin..Will keep you guys up to date..I shall ride for you...lol...
  20. One time When I went to gaspesie last year..my wife wanted to use her GPS..LOL..well when we got to near rimouski we drove for 25k in the middle of farmers feilds..acording to the gps.. So is it the FCMQ..yes I have expirrianced the ..What the hell feeling with my gps on trails too..dont ride them much, ..but it did happen twice...I use my gps with way points I make.and mostly just for track back..simple and dependable..as for the gps being wrong..well someone else made the maps..so how good are they....they are only as good as the guy with the gps ..and most dont know how to use them wright..Rely on only you..I ride the mountains..and lost is not a good thing in the dark 15k or so from the nearest trail or town. Its your life..Take care of it.Make sure you know how to use your GPS..Mines a Garmin 60csx..the newer one dosent have the 4 prong plug..my son has that one.
  21. Nice job ...I got to do something like that on my wifes attak.. my RMKs come with a fancy gas rack for 3 gallons..but my Apex mountain 162 fits a 6 gallon can purfect cause I took the plastic off the rack.now its just metal.Comes in handy when with my wife on trails..you burn way more on trails than off..
  22. Looking to ride the northshore of gaspesie..yep where the real mountains are..Ihave been riding here for many years and have found some great spots..but its borring when alone..Dont work all winter..need playmates..and women welcome too...lol... Ride in the mountains..cuts and logging roads..and anywhere my sled will fit through..Here is a couple of pics from last year..we rode on April the 7-8-9..and it was powder..yep powder...it snowed above 1500 feet..in the month of april..more than 7 feet of snow..yep powder till april 20...My friends went for the mothers day ride..not me I had to do this crap called work..but we ride here usually 6 months....I shall post pics here for Gaspesie..but dont forget..its the noth shore.......these are from April 7-8-9 2012....jack
