For your exploring I'd have Blizzaks all around. I get by with truck tires on my 2500 but it's a long bed Xtra cab so it stays pretty straight most the time plus its a Chevy with an 8.1 so it is pretty heavy

MSR MX gloves down to about 10f then short Reima Goretex. I can't stand gauntlets, I wish someone would make a short one just to cover your hands. No need for up your wrist for me.

Yah, I never really got around to getting the upgrade...............it's in the shop getting the shock wire fixed so I'll give him a jingle and have him slap on the new bars................-40 is no fun IMO but better than sitting home watching tV

Some great stuff there on Sbowl. Lot of the pics look real familiar. Even saw the bridge I lost my saddlebags on a few years ago outside Relais Auberge by Letape. That one came up in a hurry.

Great topic, couple years ago coming down from HI to St Raymond the thermo read -42c which is about -42f and it was friggin cold. I'm hardly ever cold but that night was bad. I wear a Arctiva jacket and Reima G Tex bibs and I'm comfortable most nights but I think I will start looking for some of the new high tech under garments to augment my gearbag. The Apex grips are a little weak so I will also do the upgrade on that. Also if you have the low stock windshield some of the new iron comes with, toss that. Lesson learned.

One of my favorite areas to ride. Couple little cross trails like the one that goes over to trail 3 a little ways in are fun if you wanna bump it up a bit. Oh God's Country.

I really isn't that much in my opinion. Food is cheap, hotels are reasonable if you don't mind bunkin up with a partner, gas is expensive but I figure 100-125 a day and as long as you stay out of the night spots you can get by for that.

Yah, Thanks for the reminder............was a bitch loading up that Apex with one ski hanging off the side like an outrigger. Trying to ride up the loading ramp after driving 13 hours to get my truck and come back and go home.................sheeeeeesh.

Bill, The HI is under new ownership? I've alway felt welcome there, from the hot Caribou in the lobby to help getting parts. It's on my must get to list every year. The riding can't be beat up there. And occasionally there are Rob sightings up there too.
