fredsleds
7 of us came from Pittsburgh to the HI last week....17 hour drive. The HI is a nice place to stay...clean, good staff, decent food esp breakfast. There is secure truck/trailer/sled parking. Rode to Anse st Jean, Alma, and multiple other loops. Alll trail were perfect with just a little ice in some corners. Sagueny Bill was a real pleasure to meet. Has a desk at the HI and helps you with loops, trail conditions, trail passes, resturant recs etc...a really super guy. Jsut remember that he is doing this for free and is NOT employed by the HI...a couple of the guys in my group started getting a little aggressive with their questions until they found this out....the people at the Relais on the trials were all great...especially the bartenders! JR's was a very interesting place for nitelife...a 8 minute taxi ride from the HI. Really cold up their...bring your warmest stuff to wear. Only minor complaint is that they need more secure sled parking then just around the pool....if you got in late it was almost impossible to find a spot to park if it was busy.
