Baie Comeau

on 3 over La Chasse River. I am not sure which bridge this is?

But there is already a solution apparently for this year.

The immediate closure of the bridge for off-road vehicles at the height of the La Chasse river in Baie-Comeau, decreed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests on November 2, has caused quite a stir, but fortunately there is an alternative solution. for snowmobilers, whose season will begin soon. An inspection carried out on October 24 showed the poor condition of the bridge,

“Obviously this is bad news. It's part of the TQ-3, that too, "said the president of the Association des motoneigistes Manicouagan inc. (AMMI), Friday, just before meeting a ministry engineer on the spot. The federated path is already cut in Pessamit, need we remind you.

Mr. Tremblay, however, obtained authorization from the Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec and the ministry to implement a temporary solution for the winter of 2022-2023.

As soon as the ground freezes, two culverts will be placed parallel to the closed infrastructure to allow the crossing of the river. When winter sets in, the pipes will be filled with snow. “The ministry could have warned us before that date. It's always at the last minute. They gave us that, ”laments President Tremblay.

For quad riders, the closure of the bridge will not hurt much because of the imminence of their end of season. “We will have to go elsewhere. We have a plan B,” admits Pascal Morneau, president of the Manic Quad club. According to him, however, a permanent solution will have to be found to make the infrastructure compliant and he is preparing to work with AMMI to achieve this. Hope for a normal winter

The AMMI hopes that the coming winter will be within normalities in terms of the amount of snow. It must be said that the last cold season was trying in terms of repeated snowfalls. “Snow falls, but not every other day. Last winter, we had a lot of snow, cold and wind. It’s a winter to forget,” sighs Romain Tremblay, who struggled to find groomer operators from the end of February. People simply had their snow trip. One thing is certain, he still hopes that the white gold will present itself early enough to allow vacationers to go to their chalets. "It's appreciated for Christmas."

Amen.

Gotta love when others say "bad weather/snow".
