MrGutz Posted July 3, 2012 Report Share Posted July 3, 2012 I know this is not a tech forum, as such, but I'd like to pass along something I found while working on No-Hair's 09 Etec. I was cleaning out the sled and noticed a little rust scale coming out of the muffler shells. I removed the shells and was suprised to see the metal degradation, and that half the pipe was stuck to fiber mat insulation, real bad. I took it right to my powdercoater and he felt it was going to blow through when they blasted it. Luckily it did not and now the entire exhaust is ceramic coated. So check under those covers is the moral of this story. It'll take only a few minutes to pull the springs and it could save time on the side of the trail with a cracked and broken pipe.
