Looking for something within 2-3hrs of Ottawa.

We want a hotel that we can stage out of, and ride daily (200-400km) loops from.

Needs to have restaurant on site or within walking distance as well as gas nearby.

Also, where and what type of Trail Pass is required?

Never been to QC to ride before, so all help is appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm sure a lot of people will chime in here, but for your drive time from Ottawa, Comfort Inn Mt Laurier/Laurentides region or LaCabanon in St Zenon/Lanaudiere region are good choices for doing week long day trips out of. Many loops available from both places right at the mileage you are looking to get. The downside to these areas is that they get busy on the weekends. Mt Laurier has the famous Devils Mt and Black Mt is easily ridden to from LaCabanon. Both have food available on site, gas across the street from Comfort Inn, On site at  LaCabanon, but pricey there. 1 day,3 and 7 day passes available at the counter at LaCabanon, not sure about Mt Laurier but I believe they are. FCMQ has an interactive trail map you could look at. The paper maps for the area's should have suggested loops to make it a like easier to plans. If I where choosing between the 2 areas, LaCabanon would be first choice as they make their living catering to snowmobiles.  I offer these two choices for the simplicity. There are many more.

Check the grooming reports before going out...

Go to:  http://fcmq.viaexplora.com/carte-motoneige/index.html  (Or the mobile app on iMotoneige)

Click "Services" in the upper right corner

Click “Delai de serfacage” (and whatever other "Attraits" you want to see)

Click "Fermer" to close the drop down box

If you switch the view from Carte (map) to Satellite, it's easier to see the Whites (those haven’t been done 3+ days)

THEN HEAD FOR THE GREENS & YELLOWS!!

Hey Monte here's a few pics of Auberge le Cabanon.   There's a pic of the groomer blocking the entrance to the sleds every night.  All sled parking is in the compound each night or in your trailer if desired.  All vehicle parking with trailer is in another compound which has the guard shack watching it 24/7.                                                                                        Pic#1 is our entrance to gas up, than put sleds in the locked compound.

Pic#2 is the groomer/fuel shack in front of the locked compound every night.

pic #4 Awesome guy for fueling you up during the day.  Stationed at the big shed until compound is locked up.

pic#5 truck and trailer compound for people staying at the motel or saddlebagging.

pic#6 you can see only vehicles of employees or loading and unloading to ride are in this area.  Guard shack for sled haulers is on the left in this pic.  truck on the right was unloading their gear and than proceeds to guard shack with room key in hand and must have all info on vehicles with registration at front desk to proceed.

pic#7 is close up of guard shack and main trail is right there.
