  1. Yes he told us that about the tips as well. on the return trip he started yelling that one of us didn't pay him but I know we all did. finally he realized he only brought 5 sleds over and not 6. lol. You also mentioned the owner/bartender ? at the Colibri, on Saturday I ordered the French onion soup and he repeated it back, I was wondering why it was taking a while for mine to come out while my 2 buddies pea soup came out. when it did it was Onion rings. lol mixed signals somewhere. I happen to love onion rings so I didn't say anything. He was a nice guy though.
  2. lol, we got back from doing the Gaspe and we had an entertaining experience with that shuttle truck as well. On the Saturday crossing south the driver almost ran into the guard rails as well having to make emergency maneuvers. But in our case it was beautiful sunshine and dry roads. Like you posted in another post about the dash board warning lights. I used the expression lit like a Christmas tree as well. It sounds like it is on its last leg. The trailer too with the messed up rear gate. lol crossing back over on the following Saturday we pulled up as he was loading up 2 other sleds and he put our 3 sleds in to make it 5 in there. That trailer was steering the truck the whole way. How the tires made it I will never know. lol
  3. Thanks. Yes you guys should join us. That would be great.
  4. Where is the Double Tree? We are in the middle of a bad ice/snow storm here in upstate NY. Tomorrow mornings drive should be fun.
  5. Perfect. I should be rolling in Friday morning!
  6. If you are moving when you get to the other side and there isn't any weird ice heave or something, your skis transition back onto the ice like you hit just a tiny bump in the trail. No problem. Keep your skis straight and center of gravity low and you float across the water pretty smooth and easy.
  7. Yup the winter carnival. lol yes it was around the tour boats in the village. They keep bubblers going so not to freeze around the boats. a lot of people run those water spots. 75' distances are actually very easy with just normal momentum. Doing 50mph and just keeping your throttle consistent (maybe a little more) and just slide your butt back a little bit on the seat you will be across the water almost as if you were riding on ice. The deeper the lug track the easier it is. Light sled with a good paddle track and water not easily able to get to the belt and you can ride for miles on water. But at night..... that could be a whole different game. Glad I have gained some intelligence over the last few years. ;)
  8. Absolutely. Would I choose to do it anymore, no, but I have been known to run open water before in my younger and less intelligent years. I have run across open water for nearly a mile late into the snowmobile season. But not at night. Dark adds a whole different level of risk. The sleds today (mine particularly being a 4 stroke) are not lovers of open water like my 2 stroke ZR's used to be. So given your scenario and we are moving along and I see water or people braking hard and dropping in, but I see land or lights not that far across I just ride it out. I feel that would be the safest thing given the circumstances. not to mention if I get across I have a house to get help. Just my choice, Others may feel different.
  9. Great. Thanks. We are heading back up Friday morning.
  10. I can't say that they are good from being on them, but as I was driving home from Shawinigan last Sunday afternoon, between Montreal and the border (closer to the border) we watched a small group of sleds running the trails (south) that run along the side of Rt15. The trails looked covered and they were moving at a very good speed. Where they started and where they were heading is unknown, but the trails were rideable and "appeared" to be ok. that's all I know.
  11. When we stopped on the river at the ribboned off junction you could see the heavily ridden track still going up the river. Just then a couple sleds were coming down from there so I flagged them over and they said they were just staying at a place a couple km’s Up the river and they were told there was a “pond of water” on the ice further up from where they were staying. They also said they were told you could still make it up the river but they weren’t going to try it. So we didn’t either and took 23 to 360 up to LaTuque. It snowed hard Saturday night and we took a quick ride Sunday morning before heading home. Nice powder day of riding. I had a few first timers in Quebec with me so I was showing them around. They are already booking a return trip in a few weeks. Lol. They loved Reggie.
  12. A nice 265 mile day. Mostly good some garbage. Up to LaTuque. The river is roped off going north past the trail 23 crossing. They said there is a section of water up the river.
  13. Rolled in today at Reggie’s (Drakkar) and headed out for a ride. Trails were in great shape. A little thinner the more south you go but going east was in great shape. A little warm but still a great ride. Passed a groomer this afternoon on trail 3.
  14. I am here with Reggie right now. Had a few of his shots. Sitting in these comfy recliners. Reggie is the best. It’s like being at home.
  15. SShhhh…. Don't tell them our secret! lol Great place. Will be there a week from today.
  16. I was just thinking that too, as I sit here at my desk ready to go to lunch.....
  17. I think that is where he stores his 60 pack of Budweiser...… ;)
  18. smeared with orange marmalade...…. Which we know you have a bunch of that. lol
  19. As if I needed any more reason not to ride a Ski Doo..... ;) jk
  20. That old truck appears to be a 1948 Ford. My dad has that exact truck. Great pics as always!
  21. Purchased my season pass and only had to switch to English once. Purchased, printed receipt and everything went very easy and smooth. Within a minute got email notification and proof of purchase. No problems, so it appears maybe they have the bugs worked out. Thanks.
  22. Thank you. I built the garage before I built the house. Lol. Now we just need some snow so I can use the sleds! Hopefully we can meet up north this winter.
  23. I am ready. Got the barn switched around and sled ready to go.
  24. Wow how time flies! 4 years ago Drakkar opened!
