  1. Big news, I think this might change everything, can't wait! Better in French.
  2. Must have been some fire burning for 7 years.😁😁
  3. Well I hope they are more up to date than their ride command app. I down loaded it to my I phone in January for fun and cause it was free. The latest version for Qc was 2015 and it showed trails in my area the had been closed for over 5 years and missing a new trail that was 2 years old. I emailed their support pointing this out and suggested they look at the fcmq map or I Motoneige. I got a reply back more or less stating they rely on input form different snowmobile clubs for input and / or official advisors and did I want to register to become one? I deleted the app.
  4. Yeah was he slow, she got his name and number and he didn't even get a pic!😁
  5. SQ, FMCQ, you sure seem to attract attention JG. trails are in melt down mode here for sure. Sat was Ok but by the end of the day the sun had done major damage.
  6. A long time ago when trail grooming was just getting started there was a section of trail near lac des Plages that was 2 lanes each about 5 ft wide with a 3 ft or so snow median between. I remember thinking man have they got this figured out, less danger of meeting a sled head on. Now they groom trails wider and there is always a danger a dim watt is going to use all of it. Maybe they should reconsider the two lane idea.
  7. Sad, this guy paid with his life for what ever the actual cause was. It is also sad that in the comments some no brain takes this opportunity to give his arm chair evaluation of the cause and who should be responsible. RIP
  8. The hwy13 incedent should never of happened. I know that stretch well, it is in a populated area on the island of Montreal not some stretch of Hwy in the middle of nowhere. An accident occurred in the lanes going in one direction and traffic came to a stand still in the height of the storm. The lanes going in the opposite direction and only separated by a cement divider remained open and plowed. There is a big uproar as to who dropped the ball and just ignored approximately 300 cars and trucks stranded all night in a metropolitan highway. Quite a bit of coverage on the ctv Montreal news last night. The $218 towing bill that drivers received will now be covered by the Quebec government. I had to laugh at the Montreal mayor as he dodged questions politician style waving a cell phone in his hands saying we have to find out why these were not used in seeking help. He made no sense to me.
  9. I realize this seems like a new trend for the east and yes the potential problems are real of trails deteriorating faster and people circulating without permission on private land or getting off the trail to play in a meadow even when it is posted fragile passage, but on another level I find some humour. In the late 60's all snowmobiles were off trail cause there were no real trails and they actually could go most places. We went almost anywhere we wanted and because almost everyone had a sled, driving through your neighbours property was no big deal cause they drove through yours. I guess the beginning of the non off trail machine started in the early 70's with the free airs. Mine would pretty much get stuck on anything but a packed trail or plowed road. Grin.
  10. If you want to launch from Mont Laurier, google "the wood runner trail". I believe you will find a fair bit of info.
  11. There was carnage everywhere yesterday. Grid lock on Hwy 13 in Montreal from accidents yesterday left people stranded in their cars all night. Some walked out, they sent buses for some this morning. the 401 and the 20 didn't fair any better. I friend coming from Cornwall to Hudson got caught in traffic due to a pile up near St Zotique. Took her over 8 hrs to get home, normally an hr or so. good news is we got plenty of snow.
  12. March 15. We have been in limbo here for several weeks with very poor trail conditions and no grooming. Trails were rock hard and lots of bare patches, rocks and no snow on the lakes only those folks desperate for a addiction fix, or planning to trade in their machines next season ventured out. We got about 8-10 inches of new snow overnight and both the Diable Rouge and Hebou Blanc clubs have announced they will be out grooming and have trails done for the end of the week.
  13. I would think that the moment a official trail runs on private property the authorities have the legal obligation and right to apply the rules and regulations as per the Quebec off road vehicle act. When it is your own private property or private property where you have permission from the owner but is closed and off limits to any other public use then I think that judge ruled correctly.
  14. It sure will, when the powers that be say do something about these accidents, that's the bandaid they will use.
  15. Well you make some good points. For hiding it, I would think if a sled has a storage compartment built into the seat it could be a inconspicuous access to a carved out bit of foam hiding spot under the seat. As for the police, I don't know. They may drag their feet on a theft report knowing that once it is gone, it is gone and they are only doing paperwork for the insurance company. Following up on a known location of the stolen sled may be met with more enthusiasm. Anyway beats but may not outperform sleeping on your sled with a baseball bat.😁
  16. In Quebec summer is just 6 months of poor trail conditions. 😬
  17. Sounds like they have all the bases covered. Personally I would wait till the second year of production to give them a chance to get the bugs out.
  18. Always good to see a new trail opening rather than a all too common " trail closure " story. 👍🏻
  19. I have been sledding in Qc since the late 60's and never had a sled stolen, or a truck, car or trailer. I've never been the victim of a car jacking, home invasion or robbery. Guess I have been lucky eh? Actually adding to an earlier post I made I think some of you are perhaps missing the point. Thieves target tourists, not just here but all over the world maybe because they seem like a easy mark. I'm not saying that those of us who live here are not at risk too, but roll into town with a nice truck and trailer and a few expensive sleds inside and you are at risk. You wouldn't think of leaving 10-20 grand in cash out side your hotel in a tin box with a lock on it, but it happens all the time except that cash is in the form of a shiney sled or two. With the amount of sleds around the more popular destinations it not only gives these scum lots of choice it may also be easier to un load a stolen sled. I ran across this while surfing sled theft and thought this might be worth while, kind of a little added insurance. http://sleddermag.com/anti-theft-device-spot-trace/
  20. Thieves are opportunistic vultures, where there is a large gathering of easy pickings they will be there. I don't think theft is any higher in Canada or Quebec than anywhere else, unfortunately in Quebec the the winter commodity often seems to be sleds simply due to the volume of them. I feel bad for folks who come here to experience our trails and get targeted.
  21. Oh boy, hope this fella is ok. As mentioned, there does seem to be way to many accidents this season. Take care all.
  22. I thought maybe you stutter. 😁 Ride safe.
  23. So there was more than one sled in the trailer but they took only one? I'm thinking maybe they had seen it earlier and knew what they wanted.
