  1. It worked. I dropped the files below and did not click insert.
  2. One more try. Text first then drag and drop and submit.
  3. Nope. I dragged and dropped the two pictures. Added the text "Let me try." It saved it as two links.
  4. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2022_12/IMG_0560.thumb.JPG.101e65406fd5a06ba83330d600b9e222.JPG http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2022_12/IMG_0561.thumb.JPG.e79ea12b446d7f088fe87f04a6b9faaa.JPG Let me try.
  5. Help. How do I insert the picture and not just the link? When I'm editing, I see the picture with the text but when I submit the post, it turns the pic into a link. Any suggestions are appreciated. Jack
  6. So here it is Thursday morning. A little snow last night and the forecast is for light snow for most of the day. Lets not try riding around town again. That wasn't fun yesterday. The sleds are in the trailer and ready to go. Sandi and I jump in the truck and head across the river to the north shore. What do you think Sandi, should we truck to Valinouet or unload in St Honore? The snow is a little deeper s we approach St Honore. Not as much grass sticking up thru. I pull into the Nutrinor gas station. The old Sconic that the trail goes thru. A few trucks already here. Lets give this a try. Unload the sleds and top them off with fuel. A better price here than on the mountain. More trucks pulling in as we head out on the trail. The snow cover is better here but still there are bumps in the trail. It sure feels good to be back on the sleds. Some good trail some bad trail. The woods are pretty bumpy but the more open areas that are probably on summer roads are better. We get to the big junction of 93 and 328. More snow here but the trail still has some bumps. Keep heading up 93 Sandi. When we get to the groomers garage a little ways before Valinouet, the groomer was out last night. It is better. Pick up speed and on we go. A few miles before Vilanouet where the detour around the broken bridge has been, the trail branches to the left and crosses the road. It picks up the power lines and bypasses Valinouet. Where the trail comes out on the old 93, Valinouet is 0.5 km to the right. Keep going Sandi. Muscle out the bumps. As we get further away from Valinouet, the trail improves a lot. This is more like Quebec. Good trail all the way to the La Chapelle. Boy is this place packed. Every mountain sled and trail sled must be here. We order and the food comes out pretty quick. Our go to lunch, we split a club sandwich. Of course there are fries. The food was good but trying to pay was slow. The waitress took our order from the table but now everyone is standing in line placing orders and the customers that are finished like me, are trying to pay. Suggestion: Ask the waitress if you can pay when you place your order. Back on the trail and we head down 93 the same way we came up. Typical trail 93, it is always worse in the afternoon. Today is no exception. What was good on the way up is now bumpy heading back. There were a lot of sleds at lunch but not much traffic on the trail. It snowed lightly all day. A few more inches. The rough sections are going to need a good dump to fill in all the holes. The forecast is for above freezing Friday and Saturday here in town with some rain on Friday, tomorrow. Not sure what we are going to do. Here it is 5:30 pm and only one other trailer in the lot. Is it too early or did everyone else head home? We will talk tomorrow. 7. I'm just starting to look at QR for the season. That bridge is incredible. Building that anywhere is a challenge but my best guess is the closest civilization is the truck stop in Milot and that is 20 miles as the crow flies. It is probably twice that distance by the dirt roads if not more. Getting the equipment there and the material would be mind boggling to say the least. Wow! Jack & Sandi
  8. Hi Iceman. Some years are good right from the hotel and other years it is get in the truck and drive over to Valinuet. This year is an in the truck year. Hi Gary. The Delta is looking good. I've got to make our reservation for February. You can fill us in on the matters from Great Britain. See you there. Hi Steven. It is good to be here. We will get some rest and relaxation while away from the hub bub back in the States. Jack & Sandi
  9. Hello all snowmobilers and arm chair riders! Another snowmobile season is here. I thought it would never come. It was a busy year at work for Sandi and I but now it is time to enjoy the Quebec winter. We drove up yesterday, Tuesday the 27th, as we normally do. A little snow on the ground in St Johnsbury and the further north we went the coverage got better. A good drive except for 20 miles before Quebec City. The traffic was very heavy there. It took an hour to get from St Apollinaire thru Quebec City which would normally be 20 minutes. After that, the drive thru the Park was nice. We are at Hotel Sagueneenne for the week. A few trailers here and a foot ± of snow on the ground. Maybe I should say less snow than more. So it is Wednesday morning and a couple that we spoke with rode Mount Valin yesterday and said the mountain was good. The parking lot at Valinuet is not plowed but you can park there. They are heading there today. Sandi and I are going to try riding out of the hotel. Nothing big today. Lets go out and stretch our legs a little and get back into the feel of things. We are on the sleds and out the back of the hotel. The trail hasn't been broke but that is typical right after Christmas. We are expecting 83 to be OK. On the spur going to 83 by La Cage and behind the businesses, doesn't even have a sled track on it. We poke thru the parking lots and the sidewalk by Route 175 working our way to the Ultramar station. We tank up with some fresh fuel and follow the sidewalk behind the tire shop. A big pine tree fell across the trail. Turn around and go thru the parking lot behind the tire shop and by pass the tree. Now we should be all set. Cross the railroad tracks and we get to 83. Yuk! One sled track and nothing else. Sticks and hay growing up thru the little bit of snow that is here. This isn't looking good Sandi. Lets turn around and take the truck and trailer somewhere. So we are back at the Sagueneenne and loaded up. In the truck we head to the Delta. Yes the groomer that lives just down the street from the Delta has been out. Lets unload here and give it a try. The Delta is the same as last year with truck parking in the big lot and the fenced in area between the buildings for the sleds. On the sleds and off we go on 83 west. The trail has been broke. Sled tracks on it and the groomer may have made a pass but probably without the drag. I'll say it is rideable but not good. No dirt areas but the snow is thin and there is snirt and sticks in the trail. We turn right on the first local trail that heads up towards Spence SkiDoo. Some parts are OK but most of it is marginal. There are other sleds out taking a shot at the early riding. We loop back to the Delta on 383. Not our kind of riding. No sense in beating ourselves up when there maybe better trails across the river on Mount Valin. Short day today. Tomorrow we will drive to Valinuet and ride from there. As much as I would prefer riding out of the hotel, a short trip in the truck to what should be better riding is worth it. Be safe and ride safe. Jack & Sandi
  10. Thanks guys. I've always wondered about this. The website Iceman refers to is a .com and not a .gov but it does have a lot of info in it. It sounds like the pardon is good forever or if you didn't learn and get another alcohol offense. Playhard's response about the Canadian Consulate in New York would be a good start. You would be speaking with someone in the U.S. and probably has the most experience with this. The season is getting close and I'm ready as long as the new sled comes in! 🙂 Jack & Sandi
  11. Is it just 368 that will be closed? Is 23 still open and the relais? Thanks Jack & Sandi
  12. Ouch! We all roll along at one time or another or maybe more often. That is a big fine. I wonder if the next time they come to Quebec, if they will get turned around? I'm sure there is going to be a record of the arrest on Quebec's motor vehicle file. Jack & Sandi
  13. I didn't get a chance to post yesterday. We got back a little late and had to visit with the Gutzs. So its yesterday morning. The forecast is for some light snow and wind this afternoon. How about lunch at Auberge Eva on Lac Bouchette? Grooming last night was everywhere. Once again and for the last ride of this trip, Sandi is out leading and going down 83. Mild right now but the temps are going to drop this afternoon. 83 is fine but I'm sure its going to get traffic today, Saturday. 20 miles and we are at Relais Grenouille. Staying on 83 along the power lines and up and over the mountain we drop down to the junction with 23. Turn right. A few sleds at Presbytere. Around the building and up the new section of 23 here. The snow is blowing around out in the fields. The woods are fine. We get to the junction with the local trail that runs to St Andre. Sandi takes this. No one has been on this since it was groomed last night. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2022_02/2113885957_StAndreTrail603.thumb.JPG.53a7bc90fb59fb201014943627ab0f0c.JPG We go thru St Andre and are off to St Francois. Trail 603 runs the road along in here and it is a nice cruising trail. Left on 83. A little ways along and there is the former green roof relais. Looks like a residence now. Many years ago that was a nice stop with Bill. Left on 355 and we are on the last stretch. This starts off wide and fast and slowly narrows down thru the woods until we pop out behind Eva. A fancy place is Auberge Eva. We go inside and put on our masks. I hope these will be a thing of the past soon. A few tables taken but this is a good size restaurant. After lunch we suit back up for the ride home. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2022_02/664666557_LacBouchetteAubergeEvainside.thumb.JPG.e023715337f1d200f0e69058ec187300.JPG Its a quick drop down onto Lac Bouchette in front of Auberge Eva. We cross the corner of the lac and run up the road, trail 355, to the gas station to fill up the tanks. U-turn. Up 355 and there is the sign for St Francois. Stay on 83 Sandi. We will take a different route back. I figure we will go east on 83 thru Chambord and back that way. It has been awhile since I've been out here. Thru the woods and we get to a signed intersection. Hmm? That's not right. Chambord is behind us 42 km and Roberval is only a few clicks ahead of us? We are on 83 west at the junction with 373. My mistake for not taking a good look at that last sign. OK we can turn around or we can drop down on Lac St Jean and cut back to the spa in Chambord. We opt for the Lac run. None of us have been out here and the access trail to the Lac has changed. We hunt around at St Hubert's. No access here. We continue on 373 and work our way down to the Park and there's my sign "Village sur Glace de Roberval". Yea! ☺️ We drop down on the Lac. The wind is blowing the snow dust around pretty good but fortunately, the Lac is well staked. Keep aiming for between the two red stakes. The trail skirts not too far off of the shore. 14 clicks later and we are at the Spa. Up on the local trail and we hook back up with 83 "east". We could have been here an hour ago if I didn't point Sandi in the wrong direction. Oh well. Its still snowmobiling. We stay on 83. The wind is whipping up in the fields. I was thinking about 383 but too many fields. Stay on 83 Sandi and we will get back in the woods. We go past Hebertville. No need to gas up. There is plenty in the tanks to get us back. 83 is a lot rougher tonight. It is getting colder so the trail will set up but the weekend traffic has already bumped it up. We catch up to a couple of two uppers. We aren't too far from the Delta so we all run together. We park the sleds outside of the pen. It is already full. A few more trailers in the parking lot tonight. Time to go in and relax for the night. Sandi and I are heading back to Connecticut tomorrow morning. The others are staying here. Hopefully we will be able to get one more trip in. The season is already disappearing. Winters are way too short. Be safe. Jack & Sandi
  14. I was just in the lobby and wanted to let the Gutz family know that Reception is getting ready for your arrival. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2022_02/IMG_0008.thumb.JPG.1da47b821654658a46c94b450d1bace5.JPG Hors devours will be set out later. See you tonight. The forecast is for above freezing temps until you get north of Quebec. So if you run into a little drizzle, don't fret. Be careful in the Park. Jack & Sandi
  15. Sandi and I both got the lucky test this trip at the border this past Sunday. We took the tests with the laptop at the Delta and refrigerated the tests overnight. We left the tests at the desk and went snowmobiling. I looked a couple of days later on DynaCare's website and Sandi's test was negative and my sample had: TEST RESULT FOR COVID-19 PCR: TEST NOT PROCESSED An issue with the submitted sample prevented COVID-19 viral testing. Resubmission and retesting of another sample is required to determine infection status. I imagine this does happen occasionally. No one has contacted me via e-mail about a re-test and we are heading back to Connecticut tomorrow. We will see what happens next time I cross the border into Canada. I feel like the guinea pig. I'll keep everyone informed if something unusual happens. Jack & Sandi
  16. It's Friday and this is the day to go to Milot for lunch. The groomer has usually taking care of 373 Thursday night. The map shows part of it groomed but not the section from the Peribonka River to about the halfway mark to Milot. Sandi is leading as usual. Cross the two dams and right on 134. This is showing its wear. There are the new power line towers going up. I see a piece equipment coming towards us. Be careful Sandi. Could that be ... a groomer? Yes it is. We pull over to the side. The groomer comes up to us and stops to let us pass him. Sandi carefully goes around and the rest of us follow. That will make 134 nice for the weekend. We turn left on 93. This part of 93 has been changed so many times. It is in fine shape today. We get to the junction with 328. Keep going straight. That is the way the groomer went. Further up the groomer went right to Onatchiway. We stay left on 367. This must have been groomed the day before because there is a few inches of fluff on the trail. It is super smooth underneath. We blaze along and get to Otis Nature. Time for a coffee break. Just a long enough stop to stretch our legs and rest a bit. Back on 367 up into the woods then we drop down on the river and cross over to the beginning of 373. It wasn't groomed last night but is in good shape with some fluff. About 10 miles in and there is a parked groomer. Hmm? Maybe that is why this hasn't been groomed. There is also logging going on here. 373 is rerouted up and north of Lac Bernabe. Its a seven mile reroute to avoid one mile of trail. The last two or three miles runs the snow covered road. Back on the old trail now. Five or six miles in and we pick up the groomed trail. Super! Sandi is picking up speed now. We get to Milot. A few years ago, new gas pumps were installed. I feel more comfortable getting gas here now. Fill up the sleds and fill us up. $14.95 for a full lunch, soup, meal and dessert. Good deal. Back on the sleds and stay on 373 west. I like the trails in this area. Not too much elevation change. A lot of flat running with gentle turns. Lean back and enjoy. 373 splits off to the right as the new trail to Girardville. Its a few years old now but new to me. We stay left on the local trail 900 down to 93. Saint Augustin and the power lines into St Monique. Instead of staying on 93, today we are taking 367 to Evasion Peribonka. This was good yesterday and still good today. Then right on local 553 to 328 to Relais des Lacs. These trails are a lot of fun and it is a nice change from 93 thru St Henri and Alma. We then get on 554 down to 93 and left to St Charles. Here is the reroute for 93. After St Charles, a few miles along the edge of the road and then three miles of twisty, snarly new trail. This is not good compared to what we have had all day. Before long we are back on the original 93 to St Ambroise. Much better. Then our normal route of 367, cross the two dams and we are at the Delta. Another wonderful day in Quebec. It was cooler today and the trails set up a lot better. One more day to ride and then we have to head back to Connecticut. Jack & Sandi
  17. Many years ago we used to stay at the Hotel du Jardin in St Felcien. That was quite nice. While on 93 between Chibougamau and La Dore, you will feel a million miles away from anything but in reality it parallels auto route 167. Something to keep in mind in case of a big emergency. Enjoy the ride. Jack & Sandi
  18. Thanks for the pointers. I'll get it but the techy stuff takes time for me. Trial and error is my usual route. 😄 Jack
  19. Another mild morning. Lets head to Onatchiway. Get up in elevation and maybe stay cooler. Sandi and I are off. Joe is with us along with FarmerOld and Tammy. We cross the two dams and turn right on 134, Pickle Park. Contractors are putting in a new set of power line towers here. We have to keep our eyes open. A lot of equipment. Turn right on 93 and this is a nice straightaway to let the ponies run. Sandi is sure liking her MXZ. At the end of the long straight, here comes a groomer. This was fine but he can groom again if he wants to. Thru St Honore and up to the big intersection with 328. Nice riding now but we are getting a little mist on the shields. Looks like a dark cloud sitting on top of Mt Valin. Straight on 93 and we start climbing. The lower part of 93 is fresh groomed but above the groomer's house isn't. A little rough but it is 93 on the mountain. Left on 267, Bras Louis. The first section is still in the woods like it was a few years ago. Quite a few miles later and we are still in the woods. We should be on the road by now. Keep going Sandi. We have to hit Bras Louis sooner or later. Finally we get to the gate for the Zec. Hmm. More construction here. I see power line towers going up. We are running along the side of Bras Louis. Much better than the trail that was in the woods. The road is being used by the construction equipment. I just looked this power line up on the internet and it is running from the Manic (dams) to the Saguenay sub-station. Ah ha! There were towers being erected by the junction of 83 and local 7 at the sub-station. The drizzle has stopped now and it is turning to snow. Yea! Drizzle is better than freezing rain but snow is the best. A good run up to 477. Look there. The trail that would continue on and join back with 93 is closed. That must be due to the power line towers. Make note: No trail connector that runs over to Auberge 31. Snowing pretty good now. A couple of tracks on the trail that Sandi can follow. Must be four or five inches on the trail. Are we having fun now? Sandi is blazing on. Trail 477 is where it has been. No changes here. No traffic either. The dust is flying as the five of us roll along. We pull into Onatchiway. A few sleds here. Put on the masks and we go in. I appreciate being able to sit somewhere at noon now. The simple things. After lunch we are heading south on 267. The snow has stopped now but there is a good coating on the trail. Go Sandi we are right behind you. An hour or so and we are on 328 and then in a blink we pull in to the gas station in St David. Always a good place to fill up. Easy in and easy out. Back on 328 west. All nicely groomed. A few oncoming sleds. It is warm still. The trail has a mashed potato feel to it. Thru the big fields and we turn left on 93. The detour for 93 is so smooth. Go go go! St Ambroise, then 367 to cross the dams. Here in town, the roads are wet from the melting snow. Puddles, mud and snirt. Looks more like March than February. The cold is forecast for cool tonight and cold for next week. A little snow here to cover up the ugly stuff would sure be nice. I know, I'm always asking for something more. OK, I'm happy with what we have. Til tomorrow, be safe. Jack & Sandi
  20. Hi Mark, I deleted the link and it took the link out but the pics are at the bottom of the post instead of being inserted in the text. I'll try again later. Thanks for the suggestion. Jack
  21. Hi Mike, The restaurant at the Delta is Boston Pizza. Same as it has been the past few years. The restaurant is open now. Maybe to half capacity? The hotel isn't full so the restaurant only has a few tables occupied. We ate supper the first night in there. Same type of menu as in the past. Nothing fancy. In the morning there is a small cook station in the corner of the old front restaurant. The chef cooks your order in front of you. This maybe a limited breakfast menu. Breakfast is good. Gary and Pat arrived safely and are here. They are still getting the Cats from Evasion. They have been using Evasion forever and are really pleased with the service. Are you planning any Quebec trips or staying in Maine for this season? RDL is missing its Mayor. ☺️ Warm here again this morning, 28F. Forecast is for a little light snow today. Jack & Sandi
  22. That is what I had done. I went back in and made an edit. After that is when the links replaced the pictures. Jack
  23. Its another warm one this morning. A lot of trails were groomed last night. How about Mt Apica? We haven't been there yet. On the sleds and trail 83 it is. The snow is soft today. Groomed but soft. A few tracks ahead of us. Lac Kenogami has been staked. Up and over the mountain. As we get to 23, we see four sleds heading south on 23. Time for a stretch. Sandi turns left and we are on our way. Groomed but a little choppy in the corners. 23 gets a lot of traffic. There is a new fence right next to the trail to keep the animals off of the highway here. Further along there is logging going on and there are logging trucks. Be careful Sandi. 23 is clicking away. A sled parked on the side of the trail. Looks like he is adjusting his helmet or something. Sandi goes by him and then I do. He then pulls out in front of Joe. A half a mile down the trail, Sandi catches up to three other sleds. Ah ha. The guy behind me is part of the three in front of us. We aren't that far from Apica. If he wants to pass, he has opportunities but he is staying behind me. Now we are a group of seven. We pull into Apica and he pulls up and joins the other three. Six other sleds just pulling out heading south. We pull in and park. Time for lunch. It feels good to be able to sit at lunchtime and relax for thirty minutes. So much better than having to eat outside! 😋 After lunch we are on the sleds and heading back up 23. Why is this side so much smoother? Keep going Sandi this is fine. A lot of sleds heading south now. We go by the 368 junction. We go by the 83 junction that we came out of this morning and we are at Presbytiere. There is the big John Deere groomer. A little smile on my face as we go by. Oh! The trail doesn't cross the road and drop down on the lake. It wraps around the building and goes back up into the woods. This was cut this year by the looks of it. The trees are pushed out of the way and a bulldozer has been in here earlier making the trail. Pretty steep as we go back in. Up and around. A mile or so in and I think we are on an old trail. None of this is familiar. Finally this new trail ends up in the field across from the gas station in Hebertville. Time to fill up the sleds. Sandi keeps heading up 23. We get to the intersection on 383 and turn right. Easy sailing here. We get to Relais Grenouille and there are a lot of sleds here. Looks like a typical day at the Green Frog. We drop back down on Lac Kenogami and at the other side we get behind two sleds. They pull up to the intersection with 83 and 383 and wave us on. Thanks but Sandi turns left on 383. I think 83 is going to be rougher so we decided on 383. This is nice. Sandi is rolling along. A few sleds coming the other way. The sun is out and we are cruising. There is the turn off for St Charles. We stay on 383. Not too much longer and we are home. Another nice day in Quebec. The trails are so good. We need to hit the lottery Sandi and stay up here for ten weeks or more. ☺️ Be safe everyone. Jack & Sandi
  24. Thank you. I did insert when I first created the post and the pictures were fine. I went back into the thread later and that is when I saw that the link had replaced the pics. Jack
  25. (Continuation) I'll work on the pics later. You're right Joe. Just before the turn off to Lamarche, there is a long downhill. There must be eight sleds coming up the hill towards us and they are taking up more than their share of the trail. Sandi pulls over to the edge of the trail and oh oh! I'm too close to stop in time. I can't go to her left so I dive right off the side of the trail. Just as I stop, I see Joe's ski tips come up along the left side of me behind Sandi. Just enough room. After the sleds go by, Sandi continues down the hill. I start moving and the sled slides off into the puff. A little throttle. Come on Renegade. You can do it. Don't dig a hole. The sled just barely climbs back up over the berm and onto the trail. Good sled. Then lunch. After lunch, we are on the sleds and continuing on 367 towards L'Ascension. This trail is one of my favorites. Pretty straight, wide, a few rollers and lots of snow dust. Keep going Sandi. We are having fun. Past the dump and across a couple of roads we are at Relais Jos Bonka. Another name change here. It is now called Evasion Peribonka. We pull out of the parking lot and just as we enter the woods, there is a four way intersection. Hmm? To our left are a few tracks and that is not groomed. Straight ahead was groomed a few days ago but no signs. To our right it is signed for St Monique. Lets take the trail towards St Monique the sure thing. This is new. The trail runs right along the side of the road for a few miles. We come to where the trail crosses the road to the right and there is the long straightaway. Now I remember this. It is the trail that goes to St Monique. Maybe the trail back at Evasion Peribonka that went straight was the one to L'Acension? We get to 93 and have plenty of fuel still. Turn left Sandi and head towards St Henri. A little frozen mist on the shield. Oh this isn't fun. No one likes freezing rain. Scrape scrape. Oh I can't see to good. Sandi has slowed down and is more middle of the trail. I'm staying near the right curb like always but can only see the red stakes ahead. Oops! I'm off in the soft stuff. I guess I got a little too far right. Come on Renegade. Keep going. I'm still iced over on the shield but there shouldn't be any obstacles out here. We are in a big field. There back on the trail. For the next hour we are in freezing rain. Slow going and a lot of stops to clean our shields. We get to St Charles and do we take the new 93 back to St Ambroise or? Sandi, go ahead down to St Charles and see what the old river crossing looks like. The warning ferme signs are always up at the river crossing but it has been cold and there are tracks on the river. I go first and aim for the other side where I think the trail continues. No stakes to follow. Just tracks scattered all over. We get to the other side and we hit the right spot. Up the bank and a sharp right turn. Follow the goat path for a short ways and yes, groomer marks. I run along in the lead until we get on 383 and then Sandi takes over. 383 is very nice and better than that, the freezing rain has turned to snow. Yea! Sandi picks up speed and we are back at the Delta in no time. A good ride today other than the freezing rain. It was mild and is forecast to be mild for the next few days. The trails were a little soft from the warmth. Until later - Jack & Sandi
