  1. Awsome trip, you got a great close up pic of the rock.
  2. Anyone know the current trail conditions in this area? Thinking of riding from the states up to Saguenay - Lac St Jean area.
  3. We stopped at Apica and had breakfeast and put in a few gallons of gas and then stopped in L'Etape and filled up before pressing on to St Raymond.
  4. Did that trip a few weeks ago, we left the HI at 7am and arrived at the Hotel Roqumont at 1pm. 200 miles....
  5. This was posted on http://www.slednh.com/forums/index.php?act=idx thought I would pass it along. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmvo1XuGh90
  6. This forcast is out to Feb 14th http://www.theweathernetwork.com/parksfx/CAQC1186
  7. That was one heck of a trip one to be rememberd for a long time.......
  8. As for the gas contest, I was hoping I would run out at the pump yesterday @ 125 miles, the sled took 9 1/2 gals, but no luck (Yet)
  9. Groomer, I notice that alot when I am out riding. I will be on a freshly groomed trail and I see a set of sled tracks, and I try and figure out what way they are going? No F...... Idea, it's a scary thought thats for sure.....
  10. Great blog report SB, lots of details. I like the gas stop contest...... Did you skip gas stops knowing you had jerry cans or is there a lack of gas stops in some areas?
  11. Depending on the route you take, its around 70 miles or so. 378 was a great trail. We were gonna take 355 back to Shawiningan, but we figured being a long distance day that taking 23 would have the fastest trails. I think 73 to 83 is a much longer ride, there is a part of 355 I think they call the pipe line? is a pretty awesome ride if you like to get a little air under ya. Have fun, right now its great conditions.
  12. Me and zeusand arrived at the Gouverneur hotel in Shawiningan on 01/19 We headed out on the 20th at 6am, rode tq 3 to La Malbaie and stayed at the Fairmont hotel, we arrived at 3:45 pm 250 miles. Trails conditions was 8 to 10 and temps was -5 to 10f for the day, the sun was out perfect riding conditions. Sun up. Had lumch here, great burgers Arriving at the Fairmont On the 21st we Left the Fairmont at 7am, took trail 378 (which was a fantastic trail) back onto 3 to to the ferry crossing in Tadousac. Stayed on 3 to Sacre Coeur, and then on 93 through Mont Valins to Jonquiere and stayed at the HI. Another great day of riding, trails were great and temps were perfect. We arrived at the HI at 5:30 250 miles Heated garage is nice. Ferry crossing On the 22nd, we rode with the one and only Saguenaybill, along with farmerold. We rode around Lac Saint-Jean, another 250 mile day, Trails was good and temps started at 15 and droped by the end of the day to -5. zeusand, farmerold and saguenaybill. We had lunch here, On the way back to the HI, my sled reached it's 1st milestone, I was keeping a close eye on the odometer so I could take a picture, at 9980 miles the Engine management light started to blink. I thought, Oh shit! the engines gonna blow before the 10k, it turned out the plug at the air box came loose, snapped it on and good to go. On the 23rd, we left the HI at 6:30am, the temps started out at -15f. We took 83 to 23. As we got up in to the mountains torwards L'Etape the temp dropped to -27f, trails was a 10 all the way. IMO, when the temps get that cold, the best thing to doo is keep riding, it's when you stop you can realy feel the cold. We made it to Saint-Raymond for lunch at 1:00 pm, fueled up and headed back to the Gouverneur. We arrived at 5:45pm, 300 miles. This is where we had breakfeast before L'etape, did not catch the name. Gas stop in L'etape Total trip, 1100 miles in 4 days, very little traffic out there, which makes for great trail conditions. Headed home on the 24th.
  13. We crossed the river on the ferry Wed morning, they run 24/7 and run 2 durring the day, and one at night, its free and it leaves every 15 min.
  14. A bad fuel pump ay, that’s a easy fix. You would not expect that on a new sled, but anything is possible. At least it did not leave you stranded on the trail somwhere.
  15. Thanks Rob, have you found out what the problem is yet?
  16. Thanks, I have been following his post, but I don't think he has been around the lake yet?
  17. Any updated conditions ? planning on riding from Shawiningan to the HI and would like to stay a night in Roverbal and ride around the lake.
  18. To be honest, at -40 I don't think I would want to ride, an on another note I probally would not be able to start my sled. Its a 800 and when its that cold, I can not pull start it.
  19. That is cold brrrrrrrrrr. no need for a conversion at that temp!
  20. When doo you plan on leaving, and where are you comming from? I plan on going there early next week if everything works out, I would like to leave from Shawiningan and ride there. Rather put the miles on the trails than the road....
  21. When I was headed back to the Gov hotel in Shawiningan, I decided to take 23 back to 3 in St Maurice area. 23 ends at the intersection of trail 352 that goes to the Artic Cat dealer. The bridge is still out, so the only back over to 3 is a local trail 359. Not sure why they did not update the 08/09 map, I was told the bridge fell down last season and has not been replaced yet. Trail 359 turned out to be a decent trail, its where TQ23 passes a bridge on auto route 40.
  22. I agree Zen, when we rode through St. Zennon on Sat, there was very little traffic and great conditions.....
