  1. Sounds like you guys had a great trip. Good report too, lots of pictures which is very important in any report. LOL
  2. La Verne= L'Alverne The 587 has not been completely groomed yet. Groomer can update on this.
  3. We were told La Cache is closed. We went from Murdochville over but then just traveled south on the 595 to New Richmond to make sure we were in before dark. The next day we took the local trail North of Carleton and hit the 595 14km above La Cache and continued North and gassed up at Les Mechins (150 miles on one tank)!! We were also told the Logging Camp (Roger Caron) is open for gas 7 days a week and food on the weekend. Both are word of mouth, we did not go into either place to confirm 100%.
  4. Three of us just got back from that area and conditions are mostly good. A lot of times clubs will say their trails are Acceptable until they have allmtheir signage up or have groomed the trails at least twice. The trail from Murdochville to La Cache was incredible on Friday, however it had not been groomed yet this year only panned. The same as a lot of the other trails, only groomed once. There is lots of snow in the Gaspesie!!
  5. No Problem, between Andy and I we will try and give a good trip report.

    tq 3 !!!

Hi Timbo, Andy tells me you have a real "Game Changer" this year!! Glad to hear you got a new Renegade.
  7. Get in that machine and get to work!! Enough picture taking, no wonder the signs are not up yet!! We are leaving Nova Scotia tomorrow around 4pm, Stephen, Dave and I. We will stop in Riverview and pick up Andyman and be in PALC about 9pm. I have no idea which way we will go Thursday morning yet. That decision will likely be made tomorrow night with the map spread out on the bed with a couple woobly pops!
  8. The Pastali is very save, sled friendly, good food, and easy to go in two different directions from there.
  9. The Gaspesie is hard to do a 2 day trip on because of size, but not impossible. You can make a nice loop from Pointe a la Croix up through Amqui to Matane and stay the night in Saint Anne Des Monts. The next day continue along the coast till you hit the 597, go south on it till you hit the local trail heading to Perce, spend the night there or Chandler. From there it is 200-235 miles back to Pointe a la Croix, three easy days. Should you be able to squeeze a 4 day trip simple follow the TQ 5 around the whole perimeter of the Gaspesie
  10. Yes it is time for a ride!! I think there has been more grooming done in the Gaspesie than appears. Clubs don't open their trails until they are fully groomed, signed, and marked. I suspect the first of the week it will look much different as far as conditions go.
  11. I just hung up from talking to the Carleton clubhouse. They have been grooming for a couple of days and it is snowing very hard right now, they are expecting close to a foot of snow.
  12. There will be lots of snow, it is snowing there today and most of the Gaspesie is under a heavy snowfall warning.
  13. HAHA I see you had some inspectors out checking your work!
  14. That is good news, that area did not have much snow last winter. I am sure the local businesses are looking forward to sledders coming back.
  15. PHEEEW Scary!!! I hope the pics get better than this one!! Pour yourself a glass of wine and post some pictures. .
  16. I was talking to Dale today from the club in Chandler. Most clubs in the Gaspesie are out but not completely done grooming and signing. The 597 from Chandler North is being groomed tonight and he expected Murduchville to come south this weekend. Groomer just groomed his section today for the fisrt time. There should be a big difference in the trail conditions map on Tuesday afternoon.
  17. I am a saddle bagger but whether you are traveling or returning to the same spot each night the price should be similar. My budget is based on an estimate of $1-$1.10 per mile. That covers everything, gas, lodging, good meals, and a couple cocktails at night.
  18. Good News!! It is about time you went to work! Make it nice and smooth, we will be expecting pictures to prove it.
  19. I will post for sure, you never know if the bearded fellow has been into the wine before he tell us trail conditions. LOL It is next Thursday January 5th that we will strike out. I am hoping the PB 80 will be the fix to my clutch issues, like you I have been hearing nothing but good reports back.
  20. The Gaspesie is a must do snowmobile region for sure, I have traveled there myself dozens of times. However one of my most memorable Quebec trips was one similar to the one you have spoke of, through western Quebec. Be sure to do both, they are completely different snowmobiling and both spectacular.
  21. 75 Miles in 45 minutes!!! I don't want to be on the back of your sled after that glass of wine!!
  22. That is right, with the sawmill closed your end of the TLR will not be plowed this winter. A straight line to La Cache, what a great shortcut that would be. It would only take 1.5 hrs!! That is as long as they are not plowing for operations going into Novelle.
  23. I was thinking the same thing, from where the bus is parked to the CB should be good. Lets hope you get some snow tomorrow to fill in the low spots and not the mild weather they are talking about. We are going to head up either Wednesday after supper or leave early Thurday morning arriving at PALC at 8am. I am not sure who is coming or which way we will travel. You can't plan these things too early!! We will ride 3.5 days and put on about 1000 miles, that should be a good Season Opener!! We will pass through the clubhouse when starting or finishing our trek. This will be a good test for my new clutch. I put a Power Block 80 on last week.
