  1. Wow, that does show it closed. That would make it tough getting between east and west Somebody up that way should know. What about the folks at Tamarac?
  2. Yep, looking for a full report on the 900 Ace.
  3. Why would they want to do this? Do they give a reason? If it's money just raise the price of the pass. That is 1/5 of the trails cut. Makes no sense to me. I'm betting there will be a lot of us that look elsewhere. I'm not sure where but elsewhere if they do this. Put it this way, if the pass is $300 and they need to raise it 20% then it's another $60. Make it $375 and be done with it. I'm not loaded with cash but we drop that much of an increase per person per night up there. I'm willing to pay to keep it viable but if they shrink it they are going to feel it.
  4. I can' imagine he was talking about your live reports, nothing beats that. I know I check it a lot. So how much is on the ground total right now?
  5. the warmup looks shortlived. Probably just enough to settle the snow, add a little moisture, and then freeze. the storm on Sun/Mon is trending colder in the states so maybe you'll get a good dump out of it.
  6. Thanks for the help! I would've never questioned it and there I might've been.....blocks for the trail Appreciate you guys up there for the help you provide.
  7. Yep, waiting for Richard to reopen someday. One of my favorite places. Friendly, comfortable, nice little bar, great food. Jackstraw, I think you may have been the person who hooked me up with Richard a few yrs back.
  8. No, I'm believing you and I think i'll pass on it. There are other places to stay that definitely have access. I feel bad for those places that don't, im sure they have good intentions
  9. Just got a replay back from them about that. Their words are "Yes there is access, not easy, but possible. Trail is like 5 min. from here!"
  10. Been waiting to read your first report since you mentioned the trails were opened a couple days ago. Well Done! Great start
  11. Thanks for all the replies. I'm definitely not complaining about the price either, never have. I just want to make sure the places that need the money get the money. The back of the sticker says it all, the club gets the bulk of the money and some goes to the FCMQ hopefully for redistribution to wherever it's needed. I think we have a plan this year that will buy from 4 different clubs in the areas we ride, that's the best I can do. We also do a late season 3 day run with our older teenage kids to wherever there's snow in mid to late march. We buy those passes at the place where we end up going so that helps as well.
  12. Anyone ever start/stop from here? I've never heard of them but looking for a secure starting/stopping location for our trips and our rig. They claim to have secure parking and the location would be a good starting point. PM me if you don't want to post it on here.
  13. Yea, don't get me wrong. It's a great start and if it was in my back yard i'd probably be tempted for sure to be out there. On a side note, we also have snow in northern Pennsylvania already. Season officially starts in 2 weeks and if we get another storm and keep the cold we'll be doing some early riding here.
  14. I guess the bad thing about them opening this early is the probability that they will close them early as well when they run out of money. Wherever there's a glass half full, there is another one that is half empty.
  15. Those are my favorite orange trails. Would that not also cut off Pipmuacan? or maybe it's just the section of trail from Scooby to Onatchiway. And whats with the cutting of 20% of the trails? Hopefully someone that's more connected to this can shed some light on it. Sucks if it's true. The bridges are one thing but the 20% reduction makes no sense (1/5 of the trails in quebec??) Really?
  16. So Groomer, Did you get your new groomer for this winter?
  17. Is that blue groomer in that second picture? Sure looks like one to me.
  18. Just to add more food for thought, I (we) have been through areas that were not kept very good and then crossing into the next region it could be perfect. Is it because the "bad area" didn't have the money or was it for other reasons? So do I send my money to the club hat kicks ass or the one that seemingly doesn't? Grumpysanta said they are working on a better allocation and I'm anxious for that to happen. Maybe if the FCMQ handles ALL the permits it would take that administrative load off of the clubs and allow them to focus on trails instead of raising funds.
  19. Any issues with gas at Obedjiwan? Plenty of it?
  20. I've heard many different answers as to where the money goes when you purchase a trail pass for Quebec. The problem i have is this......I've ridden in most areas of quebec and have experienced mostly good to great conditions. However without naming particular places, i 've also witnessed horrendous condition due to what i consider lack of grooming. Yes traffic can play a role and i understand that in those areas but there are what i would call connector trails (ie 355 between La Tuque and Lac St Jean) that sometimes become an argument between clubs and therefore get neglected. Here's my question and my concern. I'm seeing more and more online sales for passes and that's great for a convenience so that we can get them ahead of time but is it true that if you purchase your pass from a certain club all the money goes to that clubs area? In other words how do the "remote" less popular sections get the money needed to groom their sections so that when I come saddlebagging through I have nice trails. It's not in the best interest of snowmobilers if "only a few clubs" get all the money. If you ride only those places then i guess it makes sense for you but if you saddlebag across the province you are more concerned that the money is evenly disbursed. I like the idea that you can buy them online however the smaller clubs might not be able to advertise or build a website to do that. Are we hurting them by purchasing from a select few? Does anyone really know how it all works? I just want to do what's best for the entire province but from what i can tell there is no option to spread it evenly across the province. Between the 6 or so of us that will be going this year we'll spend 1500 to 2000 in trail passes. I'd like to see it spread evenly but is that possible?
  21. Thanks for the update. I'm glad he's ok and if he's living there he might as well open :) Heck we don't require much. The last time i was there he had us in his living room watching hockey.
  22. In this case no news is probably bad news for the Mekinac?
  23. Any chance the Mekinac will be reopened this winter? Maybe someone has heard some news?
