  1. I've stayed there twice this winter.  Been staying there for my early season ride with Krissy every winter over the last 10 years.  No issues at all.  That jumbo heated garage is great for sled security.  Most times I've been there in the past few years there was room for my rig (Ram 2500 mega cab and three sled Rance Renegade trailer) in the garage as well.

There was a spate of thefts in the SJDM area number of years ago but that seemed to have quieted down until this recent episode at Porte de la Manawinie.  Surprised to learn of this incident......lol, every time I drove past there the last few winters there were zero guests there.

What a previous poster opined about 131 being a corridor for past thefts is right on the money..............always be careful about securing your rig and sleds; specially twixt St Z and SMDS.

Regardless of the brand, I  spend a lot of time at one hotel during the winter and see way too many people returning from saddlebagging on a flatbed due to a breakdown, or asking the location of a dealer due to sled problems. This is insane that sleds have been around for more than 50 years and are still having so many problems and so many parts that fail way too soon. I have had sleds in the 70's and 80's that were more dependable than some of today's sleds.

You know, guys and gals, once you hop off the Ferry at Masson-Cumberland, you're only about 30 minutes from the Hill & Gully Riders clubhouse. The clubhouse is open weekends from 9:00am if you want to suit up, use the washroom or grab a coffee, but the parking is free and available 24/7. There's lots of room for rigs, and a pretty good loading ramp.  It's located at 149 Chemin Inlet in Mulgrave-et-Derry (use the French terminology in Google Maps), and is only 1 km off the pavement on Route 315.  The trails lead north into the Papineau-Labelle Reserve in two directions, either towards Notre-Dame-de-La-Salette or Montpelier and Le Mulet.  Anyway, just a suggest if you want to stop driving and start riding a bit sooner. And we're always glad to see new people!

    Good to know.  Mucho thanxo!

  4. No doubt, it makes a lot of sense to use the Cumberland/Masson ferry if you are headed anywhere east or to the northeast.  I've used it for years.  However, it you are headed to Manawaki, or anywhere to the north-west, driving the 11 miles past "the 5"; waiting to embark, cruise, and dis-embark; then driving back 10 miles to jump on the 5 North is not the best use of your time .

  5. This is not good.

Waiting for someone to "blink" is not entertaining if you have a couple more trips to La Belle Province on the table.

They have always reached accord during past similar situations, but this Agriculture Minister sounds like a hard-ass.

Should this come down .................The only factor that one could consider is seek trails in regions that are primarily woodland (Gaspesie, big chunks of Abitibi, etc.) where the farming community does not have the snowmobile community  by the shorthairs.
