  1. George, I started to have shifting, not engaging, problems on my 2011 gsx se 1200 at about 4700 miles. It would not upshift unless I reved to 65 then let of throtle for a second and hold at 60. Around 5000 mi. I couldn't hold over 45 mph. Took secondary apart without opening chain case, cleaned and put back on. No visable wear. Primary was removed using water trick. I found deep grooves in ramps that would hold rollers preventing upshift. Replaced them for $50 including shipping. Cleaned with brake cleaner and air. All other parts were ok. Clutches worked great for last trip, 1000 miles on Gaspe'. Didn't need any special tools or pullers. SD has lightened primary clutch for 2013 and added more ramps. Have fun and still hoping for one more ride this season, Jeff
  2. I just noticed Snowtrax took the snow train in Ontario last year and rode in April. Since returning from a great Gaspe ride earlier this month, I'm suffering withdrawl in 80 deg. heat! Is there any riding left in Quebec? Is there any train that could haul sleds above James Bay for instance for early spring riding?
  3. My friends and I plan to tour the Gaspe from RDL to Matane, Murdockville, Perce,Chandler, Point La Crouix, down to Edmundston, and up to RDL. In your opinion, what are the most scenic, cool things to see. Which trail from Matane to Murdockville is the most scenic, challenging. northern or southern? Any favorite places? This is our 2nd attempt. Last year we had sled problems and snow storm which ended our tour.
  4. Thanks to all. After using the water trick to remove primary clutch, I found all 3 ramps @$20 deeply grooved so that the rollers would hang up in them and prevent up shift. Thanks again. PS - secondary was ok.
  5. I HAVE A 2011 GSX SE 1200 WITH 4775 MILES.IT IS COMPLETLY STOCK. AROUND 4300 I NOTICED ON A GRADUAL EXCELERATION RPM WAS NORMAL UNTIL OVER 65 WHEN THEY RAN UP TO REV LIMITER, 8600,. IF I LET OFF THROTLE TO 60 MPH, TACK WOULD DROP AND STAY AT 6300. ANY INCREASE IN THROTLE AND RPM WOULD JUMP UP. PUT ON NEW BELT. SAME PROBLEM. LAST 100 MILES I COULD ONLY GO 45 MPH AT 6000. FROM DEAD START I HAVE NORMAL REVS AND MPH UNTIL 45.THEN THE TACK KEEPS GOING UP. IF I RUN SLED WITH TRACK ON A STAND AND WATCH CLUTCHES, THEY TEND TO OPEN AND CLOSE OK BUT IN STAGES. 4000-ENGAGES, 4500 STARTS TO SHIFT, STAYS SAME UP TO 6500, THEN SHIFTS. AT 100 RPM IS 7000. OF COURSE THERE IS NOT MUCH LOAD SO I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS A GOOD TEST. I CHECKED SECONDARY SPRING LOOKS OK. IF I LOCK BRAKE I CAN TURN AND PUSH INNER SHEVE TO OPEN.PRIMARY HAS SOME SLIGHT GROOVING ON INNER(ENGINE SIDE) SHEVE CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHICH CLUTCH IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM ?
  6. CAN YOU STAY OVERNIGHT IN L'ETAPE? WHEN YOU WERE ON 355, DID YOU SEE A TRAIL SIGN THAT GOES EAST ACROSS THE PARK TO L'ETAPE. IT'S NOT ON THE TRAIL MAPS BUT WHEN WE WERE RETURNING TO SHAWINIGAN 2 WEEKS AGO FROM ROBERVIL, WE SAW A SIGN AND BEGINNING OF A NICE TRAIL! JEFF

  8. I HAVE A VIBRATION/RATTLE NOISE BETWEEN 3900 AND 5000 RPM ON MY 2011 1200 4 STROKE. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE AS MILEAGE INCREASES. I NOW HAVE 2766 ON IT. IF I REMOVE THE DRIVE BELT I CAN HEAR IT BETTER AND IS NOISIER WITH CLUTCH SIDE COVER OFF. IF I PUT A STETHASCOPE ON CRANKSHAFT HOUSING ON CLUTCH SIDE, IT'S VERY NOISY. MY FRIEND HAS THE SAME SLED WITH ABOUT 3500 MILES AND FOR THE FIRST 1000 MILES HIS WAS NOISY LIKE MINE BUT NOW IS QUITE. DEALERSHIP OPENED CLUTCH AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. DIDN'T HEAR A PROBLEM. I STILL THINK ITS THE PRIMARY CLUTCH. ANY COMMENTS? THANKS, JEFF

ASUALLY WE LIKE TO RIDE 200 MILES/DAY.WE CAN'T DECIDE WHETHER TO LEAVE ST MICH GOING TO CACEY THEN WEST TO PARENT, 1ST NIGHT, SENETIERE, 2ND AND BACK AGAIN OR FROM CASEY GO EAST TO RELAIS 22, 1ST NIGHT, CHABOUGAMU 2ND NIGHT AND BACK (WE'RE WORRIED ABOUGHT BARE ROAD 15 KM LONG NEAR WAMATASSI!!!)
