Rescuers were advised to 2:10 p.m.. A man, aged fifty years, died in a runway. He would have missed a curve to collide against a tree. "The speed may be involved," said Sergeant Claude Denis of the Sûreté du Québec. Two investigators accident SQ were dispatched to the scene to clarify the circumstances of this tragic event. Firefighters from Clermont and other snowmobilers evacuated the victim with a sled stretcher. They completed their intervention at 15h07. At 14:30, at Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, rescuers were alerted to the second accident. It would have occurred in a field, between the river and the main street near the house number 833. According to the SQ, "a relative of the man was concerned about his absence and went to see where he was. The snowmobiler who was not wearing a helmet, was found unconscious near his vehicle. The snowmobile was ejected when the craft passed on part of the land where there was more snow, "said Sergeant Claude Denis. An autopsy will be performed and mechanical expertise will be carried out on the snowmobile, also confirmed the spokesperson of the SQ. Baie-Saint-Paul firefighters were called in to evacuate the victim, a man in his forties, with their adapted sled. The deaths occurred in hospitals in Baie-Saint-Paul and La Malbaie. These two tragic accidents darken the outcome of the snowmobile season in our area and heavier than the province was already one of the worst of the last 7 years.
