  1. Nice trailer! Do you plan on towing the new trailer with that vehicle? Might need some wide mirrors to see behind you.
  2. Very nice report and great pictures as always! Thanks for sharing! Glad KK is getting better!
  3. I like where Levi is coughing after taking a hit... You know they all like to toke...
  4. Thats awesome! We are all here to have fun!! Thanks thats my point exactly from the start, to each their own just be safe about it. Oh wait that may have been another stupid comment eh Foz...
  5. Its not as big of a problem like it is in Quebec... You can go anywhere in PA, NY, VT, Maine and none of the places that I know of to stay at need a gated, locked, 24 hour security guard to get in/out of the parking lot to protect their clientele. Bad people in States too, heck we prob have you out numbered there, just seems the snowmobile and truck theft is and has been way more of an issue in Quebec. I understand there are way more snowmobiles riding in quebec than in the states with no snow so the ratio may be what makes it stand out to everyone. I do hear of stolen sleds recovered more often in states possibly because people who take them try to keep them and they are less likely go to chop shops or parts warehouses. I often wonder if any stolen sleds are recovered in Quebec or what happens to them once they are gone... Years back when we started riding in Canada, EVERYONE warned us about the thefts and good/vs bad places to stay because of this issue at the time. Ice your right, seems to be getting better but still need to be very smart about where you stay and how you store your sleds no matter where you stay, not to mention the extra saddle bag for your chains and locks...
  6. Trying to stand up riding on a Venture or Vector would be like standing up to take a shit, it just doesn't work and you look awful odd doing it. Those who have these type of machines or are overweight (or both) will have trouble to understand why/how people ever stand up longer than to look both ways...
  7. Stupid, is not realizing this happens way more often in Canada than anywhere else. There are specific threads on here discussing this exact issue of security. Just look at the reputable places to stay, they all have secure, locked and gated parking areas with security. Ive ridden in so many different locations and quebec is the only place you have to worry about a secured parking area and still triple lock everything. Thefts do happen elsewhere I am not saying they do not but the truck and sled thefts in quebec are definitely an issue and has been for many years. If you don't understand this you are the stupid one!
  8. Yes I am short, 5'8" (possibly 5'9" with my Klim boots haha) so maybe thats why I like to stand a lot. Nothing wrong with my sled I have adjustable handle bar risers on the cat that can go up and down with the push of a button in seconds so its very comfortable to do either on my sled. A great feature I will never go without after having it... People who always sit will of course say its better to sit, especially when their sled isn't meant for standing (touring sleds, vipers, RX1, etc). You simply can not ride these sleds standing up comfortably. This could go on forever like the 2 vs 4 stroke debate... I guess thats why I started with "to each their own". Do what you want just be safe and have a lot of fun!
  9. This is why I have a satellite activated detonation device on my sled. If I find out its stolen they get a big surprise, and if you look up in the air you may see the halo where they are at... Hearing stuff like this makes my blood boil... When is Canada going get a handle on this its been going on for decades?
  10. Oh man what a way to go.. RIP fellow sledders..
  11. I am agile and in good shape so its easy to stand up from sitting down... Sitting down is 60/40 for me, I am more of a stander than a sitter because I ride a different style. Not about the seat its about having fun doing what you enjoy which is a lot of the time standing up and leaning around with the sled in much more control than anyone sitting down. Not trying to be a snocross racer but it is funny watching the butt riders in a kidney bleeder section. You know when they try to get off the trail to park, thats not doing wrong its being safe but thats where I see a lot of the heavy sleds get stuck. I am 36 not 16 and I stand up a lot, I don't wear a back pack but I have to admit my jacket pockets are usually full of jerky and candy so maybe I should... Sometimes its nice to video your adventures with a camera or go pro, for me its all for memories with my father and I so I enjoy getting him on film. I get your point though because I see that most of the jackasses on the trials (or off illegally) have these two things and probably standing up. I get put in to their category if I stand up and ride responsibly so its just how it is and I get it but still not changing my style but maybe you'll understand when you see me going by standing up on a groomed trail... Only Stand up to pee, hahaha now thats funny!!
  12. Good thing they had mountain bars for those conditions... If there weren't fresh tracks in the mud I would have guessed the sleds were left all winter after being taken by the Gaspie Sasquatch...
  13. The Apex is fine if you stay on paved trails sitting down, seen so many burried apex within feet of the trail just sunk and they are Heavy, almost need a tow truck if stuck with bags on... Many friends that have had them will never go back after riding the new chassis. To each their own; some would never get their butt of the seat even to fart, some would prefer to rarely sit down, some do a bit of both... Each riding style has a different type of sled style better meant for their likings... Maybe the problem with yamaha is their branding for sleds has gone down since disappearing from the popular snocross racing market for past several years. The younger generations miss the whole concept of a pristine fit and finish and build quality that has been the norm with Yamaha, they just want the sled with the monster logo on the windshield somewhere that matches Hibbert or Lavalle... They also miss out on the two stroke market which is still well over 50% of the total market I would guess.
  14. We use Sena Helmet Communicators and it connects to my music via bluetooth and I can hear it perfect at all speeds... There is volume adjustment and when you talk it comes in over the music so you can hear both... Wouldnt ride without them!!
  15. Good Times!! Awesome report This is the exact thing I do with my dad... We love the Real Masse for the same reasons you do and also hit the trails that are the freshest even if it is the same route now and then! The food at Masse is hard to beat and the heated garage is a great plus especially when its below zero F. We are going back up on the 6th...
  16. To each their own and as Ice has experienced, even 4 strokes have their problems. I recall your last tow job you described was a 4 stroke Ski Doo???
  17. When you are wearing mittens you cant hold up your fingers to make an "L" to know what is left and right. Thats why I wear gloves...
  18. good or bad thats all I need to know?
  19. Nice, sounds like it was still worth the trip! Which way you drive up from MD, rt 81? Nothing like a good fix in the Bush!! Been there..
  20. I definitely didn't know about the mirrors. I have heard about no studs allowed but never the mirrors. I am guilty of not being up to speed on the laws and need to do a bit more looking in to this. We are friendly snowmobilers like everyone here not trying to be disobedient or disrespectful. The language barrier is definitely hard, if you had the ability to reason with them the mirror ticket maybe could have been avoided.
  21. The guy was just trying to get the facts ICE... Down boy!! In the USA there are also things called warnings to those who do not intentionally break the law. I would think this applies to the french speaking folks who cant understand the english cops when they are in our territory? Seems like a low blow, I can see if they were speeding, drunk or breaking other laws but a mirror on a sled is all but useless most of the time because they do not defrost like on cars. That being said if I ride with a mirror on my left wrist does that count? What if my left mirror is covered in snow and ice are they still going to be a-holes? When they give you a trail pass on the trail, how are people suppose to learn the quebec laws for snowmobiling, should be a list of minimum or obvious requirements for machine and rider? Call me ignorant too if it makes you feel better...
  22. Great loop!! Thanks for sharing, nice pics!
