  4. The PQ ( Partis Québécois) opposes the ban on snowmobiles in parks!! That's Very good news. Thanks once again to the ADMDQ!! From the Press Canadienne, QUEBEC - The decision of the Minister Line Beauchamp prohibit the movement of snowmobiles in national parks from next year will wear a heavy blow to the economy of the regions, predicted the Parti Québécois. Clearly, the Minister of the Environment "has no idea" of the economic reality of the regions, has supported the MP for Chicoutimi, Stephane Bedard, in an interview with The Canadian Press. It's totally irresponsible. So it should be a little of the neighborhood where she lives in Montreal, "Mr. launched Bedard, convinced that several regions, as well as many tourist establishments on the outskirts of major urban centres, will suffer heavy losses because of this decision. "I understand that they (the Liberals) do not have a lot of deputies in the regions or in the region north of Montreal, but there is a limit to incompetence. Someone, somewhere, would have had to explain to them that the decision will have an impact on tens of thousands of people, "continued the member for Chicoutimi. Interpelée by lobbying environmentalists, the minister Beauchamp said last week that the government will prohibit snowmobilers access to national parks next year. In doing so, the Montreal minister responds to the desire expressed by organizations such as the regional councils of the Environment, Nature Québec Ecotourism and Adventure Quebec. These groups argue that the movement of snowmobiles "deteriorating environment" in addition to being a source of "noise pollution" for walkers. With success, they persuaded Ms. Beauchamp implement to the letter parks legislation which prohibits since 2000, the practice of "motorsports" in the areas in conservation. Therefore, as of next year, snowmobiles will be banned five parks in Quebec, where they were tolerated or parks du Mont-Tremblant, Plaisance, Oka, Mount Orford and Mountains Valin . But in the opinion of the PQ, Minister Beauchamp is not a single snap decide the fate of a hobby that generates annual economic impact of $ 700 million in Quebec. "She has taken a decision 'ex-cathedra', in defiance of all users (parks) and the whole tourism industry. The reality is that tourists snowmobile enthusiasts also enjoy access to the finest Quebec places, including parks, "argues Mr. Bédard. By storing without any consultation on the side of anti-snowmobile groups, the minister has only focus users of national parks against each other, said the deputy. However, he argued, harmonious cohabitation between snowshoers, skiers, hikers and followers of snowmobiling is quite possible. "We must take into account the reality of our territory. We have a vast territory. It must be possible to accommodate each other," said the MP. But to arrive at an acceptable solution, the minister must renounce act by decree, said Mr Bedard, noting "there was no urgency" to settle this matter once this year as did the minister. The spokesman PQ proposes instead to hold a public consultation, where all users of the parks would be invited at the same table to find solutions to irritants and problems of cohabitation. It was time that one of our party spoke for us! I think that is a good stat!

  14. From Motoneige.ca as well as TQS Saguenay!! Good news for snowmobilers: the service station to Step becomes operational from tomorrow. The snowmobile of the Wildlife Laurentian will be re-opened. Following the fire on 12 December last year, the SÉPAQ has put in place emergency measures to enable road users 175 to access services to which they are accustomed. On the eve of holidays, it was necessary to act quickly. So they worked with the dealer the service station. From 8:00 tomorrow morning, the seven gasoline pumps will work to ensure that motorists and snowmobilers can be full of gasoline or diesel. A temporary trailer 60 feet with a toilet, has also been installed. Coffee will also be available and towing services, as appropriate. It is a pleasing news for the middle of the snowmobile. The link between the region and Quebec has now been restored, with the abundance of snow already received, it would have been a shame not to receive these visitors. The snowmobile trail 369, Lac Beauport to Step 23 and TransQuébec from Saint-Raymond were impassable since the fire. The reopening of the service station also makes the grooming functional since they can now be ravitaillées gasoline.

  21. A chance that winter begins Dec. 21! Last night! This morning! I think that our snowmobile season will be long this year ! Have a nice Monday!
  22. The owner of the station Mr. Girard spoke on the radio today and confirms that there will not use gasoline for Snowmobilers before Monday or Tuesday morning. He should confirme. It's more complicated he thought. If you decide to go anyway and I know for certain of you.... that this situation calls you, use caution because the trails are not grommed and made a large provision of gasoline before leaving. I heard that the relais Apica is sold out in fuel! Do not count on that relay for gasoline! I recommend that you wait a little before you go!
  23. I Greg! Do not take this personal, but......Double post?! http://www.quebecrider.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=321
  24. From the FCMQ on motoneige.ca The snowmobile club St-Raymond (Trail 23) and the Association of snowmobilers the Backcountry (Trail 369) advise snowmobilers their respective paths linking the vast region of Quebec to Step remain closed until further order. Following a major fire which devastated the station of Step on the evening of Wednesday, December 12, it is currently impossible to buy food or gasoline diesel at this location. Given the considerable distance to go, operators of the two clubs must make full gaz to Step before returning to their starting point in the Quebec region. Thus, as the supply of gasoline will not be restored, it will remain impossible to groome the 2 trails. For obvious security reasons, we strongly advise all snowmobilers venture into the park as long as the grommers have not resumed service. We also invite you to visit the "Association of snowmobilers the Backcountry'' website where you will be announced the reopening of its trails or on the FCMQ website. Patience my friends!
