  1. According to my quirky mind, mourning period for the season past is over and the “waiting for the next snowmobile season” season begins. Only about 230 days to go give or take a bit.
  2. I am not replying to bash this it may be great I don’t know, but I would be curious as to where they are getting the base maps from and updates etc. Hopefully some gps map program revised each year. Reason I wonder is about 2 years ago I had Polaris ride command ( or some similar name from Polaris) a free app that supposedly had snowmobile trail maps for multi states and Provence’s. I also use I motoneige. The Polaris app was hopelessly out of date. I emailed them and told them that they had trails on there that had changed or closed going back as far as 2 years ago. The reply was they rely on local clubs and individuals to get the latest info and did I want to be a contributor / advisor. The wording may not be exact but that was the gist of their response, I deleted the app.
  3. Ha, in our area it was over about 3 times and made a come back each time, once in January, February and March. Weirdest winter in a long time, mid April but everything is frozen up including my lake and we are bracing for a winter storm.
  4. A bit on the liquid side is my guess.
  5. Well for those people may I suggest a double black line painted down the Center of the trail.
  6. Sounds great both for the groomers and sledders. It does need to be strongly marketed that everyone one have one, insurance rebate etc. Issue I see is, equipped with this it may be easy to rely on this too much to warn about incoming sleds and let your guard down, then bam, a sled or two without the device comes around a blind corner.
  7. Now that is what I call bushing it.😀
  8. Love the drone shots they really add prospective to the video.
  9. Yeah but do they have an iceman sticker on the front door?😀
  10. Yes that railway bed runs from St Agathe all the way to Mt Laurier. It was a quick way to get north or south on a snowmobile. When a group of citizens took the government, snowmobile club, and town to court over noise etc, they won and the railway bed got shut down between Labelle where you got off and St Faustin ( 17 km south of Mt Tremblant. Screwed sledding in the area big time. Tremblant is basically a dead end because of that and another trail closure. The new bypass will reconnect Tremblant with St Faustin where the railway bed is still open to st Agathe. I believe there is hope that after that a way to connect Tremblant with Labelle will be found. Labelle is a snowmobile friendly town IMO with two parking lots for truck and trailers. When they rebuilt the bridge a few years back they widened the side walk for a better passage for sleds and a newer less complicated passage through town. They used to have orange cones on a couple of sidewalks and keep them snow covered to get through town and we had to cross a main road in town at a set of lights. All that to say I think Labelle would be delighted with a direct connection to Tremblant and further south.
  11. Next time try this route, doesn’t matter if you get off the pitit train du Nord onto the 319 at Nomingue or 323 at Labelle. Follow the route I highlighted. 1 being Hotel Lac Carling. It is overall a nicer trail both the ride and the scenery as well as being at least an hr shorted than the way you went.
  12. Yes if the way you went was staying on the 43 till it turned into the 317. As per this map. After the marina / general store, you would have gone about 4 miles down the lake and then another couple of smaller lakes right after. No wonder you almost ran out of gas! There are two other choices that would have saved approx an hour’s ride.
  13. In Quebec Summer is just 6 months of bad trail conditions.

    Good news!

A little up date from Diable et Rouge on the by-pass. Basically they say the big file for this summer is the trail on the 117. They have already had talks with engineers and the transport ministry of QC. They should go to bids in the following months. To be continued! Work finished by the end of September! Sounds like they just might be running the bypass up the median of the 117 or beside it.
  15. Yes it is great, was on it a week ago Thursday. You can really roll and it is a lot shorter distance than the old route imo.
  16. With both the Diablo et Rouge and Hebou Blanc throwing in the towel for this season we are pretty much done here. Sun, mild weather and no new snow have turned a good portion of the trails to dirt. I suppose trails through the woods and in the shade might be passable or further north from here might be better, but not worth the trouble IMO. We ended on a high note last week with one last run on perfect trails.

    Good news!

Well I am hoping the by- pass will be ready for next year. The club has be pushing hard for several years and thought it was a done deal each time but there was always a snag. There is a 3 million dollar budget for it and presumably lots planning to still go over. These days it is no longer “ oh well just cut some trees and put the trail here”. The loss of the section of the petit train du Nord caused by unhappy residents taking the government, club and town to court means they will be extra careful in putting the by-pass in a location that can never be threatened. If it were me I would be seriously considering running it down the center of the 117. A bridge or a tunnel at each end so sleds don’t have to cross a high speed highway would be the big cost. I have run down the center of the 117 in the past from St Faustin to Tremblant to get past the dead end and in my mind it would not be hard to put a real trail in there. Down the center of a divided highway would certainly be safe from residents complaining about sleds disturbing them. Now if they could reconnect Tremblant to Labelle as well we would be in great shape.

    Good news!

While it has yet to be materialized, it is now promised for next season. We will see. The previous delay was a lack of funds but that supposedly has been cleared up and the funds and go ahead granted by the minister of transportation. They announced with big fan fare and a news conference just before Christmas.
  19. And then there are those who pride themselves on being idiots.
  20. Saw the same thing the other day. Sitting eating lunch in Lassumption our sleds parked outside and two bikes drive by. I know the season is ending, we didn’t need any reminders😁
  21. Nice pics. Something tells me conditions are going to go down hill fast this week.
  22. The general store / depanneur at Lac des 16 isles along with it’s gas pump is closed as of yesterday. Not sure of the exact reason but the owner tried hard to keep it open. it appears permanent.
