  1. Wow. Looks nice Mike. Save some for us. ;-)

It seems most everythings great. If there is any stretches we might skip let us know. Jack mentioned some of the trails “near the river” were somewhat slushy but good...so we will likely stay up away front riverfront trails some.

Likely do Rimouski way loop one day, St Pamphile way loop one day, and something looping eastward one day, like last year !

Snow day here tomorrow in Maine, so perfect day to pack !

Eastmark,    I think you and your wife absorbed more of the area in three days than most of us do in weeks.

    mike

It like putting a fish in water Mike. We really enjoyed it.

Im already starting to scheme a Gaspe Loop trip sometime....  :-)

  3. I find myself checking the groomer map every morning even though Im not even there now....along with having vivid dreams in green and gold.  What I wondered is this something I should discuss with my psychotherapist ?  Should I be concerned ?

The map sure looks especially colorful today BTW. LOL. Damn.

Trail 5 East doesnt seem to get the grooming most others do...or could that be just the last few weeks since Ive started stalking the map ?

Is that because it generally stays pretty flat and requires less ? It was good except some spotty drifting when we were up.

  4. Great info Mike and Jack.

I was curious which clubhouses were the best....we hit those except Hiboiux. Next time.

We also liked 3 Pistols and the RDL one. Im sure there are some others that are either just cool and/or serve great food. Exploratours sure had a great Steak Poutine. 😀

Praying to the weather gods. Hoping things don't deteriorate too badly. Locked, loaded and heading to the Universal tomorrow for the weekend. Will keep the thread rolling as things unfold.

I think you will be good looking around this morning there. To be safe I would advise making sure you guys have scratchers in case you need them. Not sure if you have them. If not I would recommend Trail Blizzers. Several good ones out there now.

Id guess they will get snow but scratchers are a blessing when you need them and your day isnt jammed up waiting to cool down. Its that time of year !

  6. Last ride yesterday. Trails were great everywhere. Snowing moderately but nice riding snow as it was dry. Ran out 526 to 35 to Pogonamook (sp) lake and up the lake to Plien Air for lunch. Apparently they had a fire last week and are closed. Got back on the lake and ran to the end. Looped up 544 and stopped into Mook Club which had 5 sleds out front. Went in for a coffee. Closed during the week but the guys were great. 65-70 year old guys who ride together every Tuesday off trail and then to this Mook club. Pretty cool.Great guys.

left there and swung back to Chevaliar Frontier club for lunch...the one that looks to be made from side by side quonset huts. Awesome spot and food. Bad thing is it changed to freezing rain while there so we cut the days route short. Continued to St Louis du ha and back 85. Stopped at another club off 85 about 30 miles from the Universel to clear the visors. Round type glass front building with a fancy bar. Forget the name. Had a coffee there and when we left it had essentially stopped and riding was great heading back. Logged 136 miles. Loaded right up so we didnt have to this am. Glad because the parking lot is a skating rink.

We had a blast. The sledding was mint. Hotel was great. People were awesome. 100 percent we will do a similar trip next year here ! It seems to be the holy grail of trail riding from what we saw. :-)

Many thanks to all who post info here. It made for a really great trip for us.

  7. Met some super nice people from the site here at the hotel bar. Mike,Jagman,Oilman. Like minded people that love to sled. Cant beat that. :-)

Wow. 2nd day ever riding here. Incredible.

Yesterday we headed to Rimouski and the feilds early on were drifted and choppy in places and perfect in others. As we went along it went from good to great. Rimouski to St Louis Ha Ha was sweet. That trail 35 is a gas. Back late along 85 and followed the groomer a bit near the end of it...259 miles of fun.

Wind is gone today so the drifting was groomed out and stayed perfect. Did 165 today out to 526 then the trail 35 railbed....wow....then to 577 and a bunch of side trails eventually back to RDL on 5. Amazing day. Best quality day of riding Ive ever done. No bumps and a hard tight base with a little bit of powder...my fav. I would have to think it was great conditions even by Bas Laurent standards today.

Not sure where to tomorrow....but I expect it will be flat as hell. :-)

  8. Into Universel for dinner and there 4 nites. First trip. Pretty gassed up with these reports and great pics.

Any of you bothered with the heated units for the sleds ? Seems unneccesary but at these temps might be nice way to start.

The security aspect feels like a bonus as well. We leave our saddle bags fairly stocked.

  9. Thanks again Mike. No need to apologize for too much info.

    We're rabid for it.   LOL

By Sunday morning Im hoping the grooming is all caught up for our 3 trail days. 😀 The Snowtracker carbides my wife and I run on our TZ1's really thrive on a firm trail base so we should be good !
