  1. JG , Best Wishes to you and your family for a happy holiday and a great new year, THINK SNOW!!...Bob.
  2. We are using this years uclear as well, work great.
  3. Relais La Chapelle on Mt Valin posted their condolence to the family involved in a tragic accident on the mountain yesterday....the very hardest part of the sport we all love....it always takes your breath away for a few moments ..as we gather out thoughts. The article is in the journal in Saguenay today. Here is to hoping that all our friends have a safe season and happy holidays, keep right.
  4. https://snowmobileinquebec.com/snowmobilers-guide/........you can order all the maps in paper as well as tourist guides to lodging, dining and attractions...for all the separate regions...for free, Happy holidays, Bob.
  5. They and you were lucky in that area, stayed cold and snowed, no rain, it is looking cold with no real snow in lots of Quebec for the next 8 or 10 days, @%$&(<!!. That area will probably get some heavy traffic early this season, there and Mt. Valin
  6. Thank you Gutz, this is probably one of the most important post on the whole forum, I never realized how affordable this coverage was. I always contact my health insurer in advance of leaving the country and have often bought a travel insurance policy when flying, but never realized how available and affordable this was. It really is a no-brainer, you get hurt 100 miles out in the woods, this will save your life. I am sure lots of people will benefit from this post .Many Thanks, Bob.
  7. Probably will not melt everything, cold weather is on the way back, and everything should freeze up like concrete, making a wonderful base, so here is hoping snow to follow the freeze and we will be good!!
  8. Usually when there is a project that concerns the public, at the beginning there is a public comment period where people can make their case and be heard, after that period government officials make a decision on how or if the project moves forward. After this phase of public comment ends, that is the end of public input. You make your case BEFORE THE PROJECT STARTS. This case is ridiculous, where some one who is literally living less than 20 yards from this enormous project where heavy equipment is operating for 9 months, comes forward when the project is complete and says, oh, I did not know this was happening, you need to stop this now....I hate lawyers who represent people in this fashion...this is frivolous and way out of line...and these people should be prosecuted for this, and if this trail does not open a judge should make them pay back the 3 million dollars that was spent on this project. I hate to think about the case precedence this case will make moving forward.
  9. JG, registered both my sleds at your club#116, very easy to do.
  10. Change always presents a little unclarity, but this new way of registering I think will shake down and actually be much easier and I think it will more evenly distribute grooming dollars so when we get to the end of March, and there is still a lot of riding left, hopefully more clubs will still have enough cash to continue grooming and not close. It is also reasonably easy to navigate and process the application and very nice to be all ready to ride when you get there. Next season, you already have an account all set up and your sleds are already there in history, so moving forward gets easier, lets hope this works out as intended and makes it all better!!
  11. What a terrible thing, having these trails all to yourself, wish I was there with you, definitely better than fixing broken cars and putting snow tires on, have a great trip!!
  12. Over a million dollars and more than a year in planning, and everyone knows exactly what work is being done, and why, and what the trail is for, it is hard to understand that residents less than 20 yards away really did not know until now, what this work was all about, and it just so happens, that they don't like snowmobiles??I cannot imagine a construction project of this size going on literally outside my door step for 9 months, without finding out what was going on until the last day.Sure sounds like someone who had a plan to be a major problem well after the fact, who spent a lot of time getting organized and connected. It also seems like they were negligent in not inquiring on the first day, if it is even remotely possible that they did not know what was happening, it's not like this was a secret.I will be surprised if anyone can make an agreement with this person, unless they are just looking for a pay out to go away. What is needed here in a case like this is an old fashion judge who throws the book out and administers some common sense, they should have come forward a year ago, before a single shovel touched the ground. If they prevail, the precedent will make it nearly impossible to build any new trails or re-routes, not to mention a tremendous loss of valuable revenue. What a shame!!
  13. The ride from Baie -Comeau to Godabout, on to Sept-iles is a great winding, very hilly trail with the longest and highest bridge in Quebec, definitely worth the ride. At that time of year there should be a tremendous amount of snow in that area. There is no gas in Godabout but 30 mile later fuel is in Baie-trinadite.If you have a GPS there is some great riding, exploring, of local trails in Sept-iles. You could also keep going east to Harve-St. Pierre, need good weather for that, but maybe you get lucky and it is groomed, all very worth researching and going, if you are prepared. You need to know if a large storm comes while you are in this area, you will most definitely be stuck there for a few days, no way around it, just makes for a memorable adventure.
  14. When I rode the extreme last spring I kept looking back and could not believe that all that sled was back there, it is a really fun ride with the 850, I liked it a lot more than the backcountry I rode for 2 seasons. I saw those lights and brackets for sale at Troy powerspots in troy New Hampshire, they do ups.
  15. Alain, you get the award for being the seasons' first report and as always the best. It really helps everyone when we can see what the actual conditions really are, it is looking like a great start, maybe we can get lucky and it will stay cold and snow some more in the next 2 or 3 weeks, we are all hoping for a great season, happy trails, Bob.
  16. Not a lot of room to move if you are coming from the other direction or meeting on a bridge!!
  17. Yes, really nice, I have a 2020 extreme and the way that tunnel is reinforced and with all the new Linq systems you can pack that sled for a 2 week trip and with a 4 gallon gas can you are good for close to 200 miles, very nice ride, and at 595 lbs it is lighter than an old thunder cat and handles light years better, this sled is a home run all the way around!!
  18. 3 million dollars and the better part of a year spent in an effort to reconnect the trail network and people complaining before a single person has even used it. Basically the reality of it is that the trail never really needed to be built in the first place, the old trail should have never been closed, a lot of people were financially hurt by it over the years. Over the last 5 decades some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting have been people hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. By far these groups have high respect for the outdoors as well as others using it, and by a larger margin, the number of people who constitute a problem is very small. I am beginning to realize that if no one ever did anything wrong, like in the case if this brand new, unused trail, that there will still be people complaining and trying to stop this great sport, and the only reason it was built was to appease some other group for the very same reason. The sad part is it is just not snowmobiling, it is hunting, fishing, 4 wheelers, and where I live logging. Seems like some people are opposed to anything they do not participate in, I recently said sledding is one of the most enjoyable things to do that is still legal!!
  19. We have 2 new sleds, an 850 backcountry and an 850 expedition extreme, all ready , luggage mounted, all registered, trailer is serviced, and trip clothing and gear is being checked, earliest we have ever been ready, trying to get out between T-Day and X-mas for break-in trip, maybe 3 or 4 days.
  20. The season has officially started, Relais La Chapel on Mt Valin is open, with a lot of snow and a lot more to fall in the coming days, a better start than last year...go to their Facebook page to see videos!!
  21. JG, Great shots , as usual, you live in Wonderland, a big part of why I love sledding there, nature at it's best, thanks, Bob.
  22. Also picked up my snow-checked sled on Saturday and trip B was already in it.Also saw Snohorse there picking up an expert summit for his son, Quick Nick, looks like everyone is getting ready for what looks like a good start to the season.!!
  23. That part of 63 that is the rail bed probably has more cops and radar than any place I have ever ridden in all of Quebec, it can take a while on weekends when it is patrolled heavy, a lot of complaints from neighbors there, like Fuse said, avoid that if you can.
