  1. Thanks Jack for the links to Hotels and the conditions.
  2. Received this trail map status today in an email from Chaudiere Appalaches Tourism. Is a map like this available for all regions of Quebec showing open, closed, limited and ice crossing conditions? I have 2017 versions of both VIAEXPLORA and iMotoNiege but I don't see any option to generate this map showing trails open or closed.
  3. Thanks for the update. i will give them a call
  4. Gutz your right, I google it and Perce received a severe storm Jan. 12. The board walk and dock are completely destroyed. considerable damage to the establishments on the shore line. I will wait a couple weeks to contact, be nice to support them if they have suffered damage and can get repaired by later Feb. Roland wasn't named specifically on the cbc site I read. I'm not sure how to do a link.
  5. I've emailed Table A Roland twice in the last 10 days but never received a response for a hotel reservation for late Feb. I may have to call them, do they speak good English as my French is limited to We and Merci. This day and age like to use email so have record of confirmations for later. Any other suggestions for lodging in the Perce to Chandler area. Thanks
  6. Hi Mid Range Can you tell me what the trails are like from Shawville up to Maniwaki. We've had a complete melt down here in S Ontario. About 4 hour drive for us to Shawville. i have my QC permit , how busy has your area gotten the past couple years on the free weekend with an influx of ONtario riders? Is one of the trails leading up to Maniwaki a rail line. I'm not a big fan of rail lines unless trying to get from point A to B quickly. Would rather be riding the twisties. The main question is do you expect your area to be a total zoo for the free weekend. I haven't checked but imagine lodging is already booked full. thanks Steve
  7. Do the hotels with the dry underground parking usually have some ski wheel doolies handy . My sled with fresh carbides doesn't like to move on cement and I'm sure they don't want their cement floors tore all to hell?
  8. Only spend an afternoon in old Quebec City. The summer of 2015 we toured the Gaspe with truck and camper. On the way there spend a couple of nights at Jacques Cartier National Park N of Quebec City. Went into the city for an afternoon. Beautiful place and would be happy to spend some more time there.
  9. I have a Yamaha Viper, the other 4 usually ride with all have ski-doos. Not fun on the -30 C morning when my Yamaha won't start because of a simple fuel relay while buddies are all geared up ready to roll. If the Fuse box was accessible wouldn't be big deal to throw a warm relay in. Some genius engineer put the fuse box under a hood that is a major pain to remove in a warm shop.
  10. I'm fortunate to be one of the few guys that has a wife that loves to sled. I have been going to Quebec for several years with the guys but never taken her. Planning a mid February trip this year, will spend 3 days riding. Travelling from east of Toronto so Quebec City would be the furthest distance want to Trailer. She rides her own machine very well. Looking for the best location for this trip. Can day trip from one location or could also do a loop just don't want to be hundreds of miles away from the truck. Looking for the balance between accomandations, scenery with excellent trails, Quebec culture, dependable spots for bathroom breaks etc. Been searching old post and see several regular posters here ride with your wife. Jack & Sandi, Towing, Snowfarmer, etc. Few ideas I have but open for others: 1. Mount Laurier, I know this area best, been here few times with the guys, know the trails, topography lodges etc. We actually went to Rabaska lodge this summer for a planned 5 days ATV trip. Rode for 2 days, second night wife woke up in severe pain, spend the next 4 days in the Mont Laurier hospital, end up having her appendix taken out. 2. Quebec City to Manoir Richelieu, haven't ridden this area so don't know it. Maybe start at Four Points, ride and stay at Manoir Richelieu. What traill #3 like. We both are more interested in the best trails to ride vs needing 5 star hotels. One advantage this area is I believe the winter carnival is on so if weather isn't perfect to ride there is other options. 3. Chaudiere-Appalaches Area. Never rode this area. Seen some pictures from here and Snowtrax video of the area. Looks like lots of lodging options. Is the riding as good as the Mont Laurier area. I like the up and down, through the woods into the village type of riding. if I want flat and straight I get on a train. The riding experience is the priority, trails, scenery etc. Saguenay Lac St Jean to far away, St Zenon area to busy, don't want to spend a night at the Canbannon with 200 guys. Hoping another couple will be coming with us, but hard to get people to commit. Many of you guys have spend years in Quebec, what are your suggestions. Thanks Steve
  11. Thanks to everyone that has responded to this post. Definitely some items on your lists I haven't thought of. My teenage daughters get real pleasure dragging me to the drug store to buy them tampons. I think they even buy the SPORTS model so should be good to go. They will have a good laugh when I tell them I need a couple. The guys I ride with will be scratching their head when I send them their list of must have items. Steve
  12. Been going to Quebec for years with group of guys, always stayed same hotel and done day trips. This year we are doing a five day saddlebag trip of the Gaspe i see it as two separate needs: 1. Clothing and hotel requirements 2. Tools, safety items and others to MacGyver trail side problems. Help me out, what to be sure to have and what really doesn't matter. Thanks. Steve
  13. This is from the Sentiers-gaspesie.com site
  14. Thanks Iceman for the explanation for ECO SENTEIR Have to feel for the clubs having to meet compliance for a feel good Green Program.
  15. What does the other box ECO SENTEIR mean and show. Nothing real obvious shows up on my IPad
  16. Thanks guys, the plan is to arrive at Mont Joli by truck Saturday night Feb. 25 then depart Sunday morning for the tour.
  17. Plan to depart from Mont Joli heading for Perce Rock via N shore. Would that be a good 2 day ride and stay at Table de Roland the second night? From there would it be safe to wing it for lodging heading back west? Looks like lots of options from New Richmond west up Groomer's Valley back to Mont Joli. The route I show is just what I came up with after reading all you veteran Gaspe trip posts. Open for suggestions. Any suggestions to stay the first night on the N shore? Map shows it being 1330 km so is that a doable 4 day ride. Realize everything depends on weather. Would put in the Gaspe forum but not much activity there yet. Thanks Steve
  18. Hi JG if I purchase my season pass now but trade for a new machine before we make our trip there in Feb. what has to be done so permit can be transferred to new machine? thanks
  19. Thanks guys for your responses. I emailed the Mont Joli Motel Iceman suggested. Looks like they have lots of room for parking, say they have good security and can arrange a driver if you need retrieved if something goes wrong. Trying to figure out our route now. Just do the perimeter or from what I read on here sounds like we should try to hit the Murdochville - Lacache Trail, How important is it to see Perce Rock? Groomers valley sounds like a must do when there.
  20. Planning our first Gaspe tour for first week of March. We only have 4-5 days to ride so thinking Mont Joli, Rimouskior Matane would be a better starting point vs RDL. Any hotel suggestions that will allow us to park the truck for the week. Matane will be a 12 hour drive from home just east of Toronto so Rimouski would be a hour closer if there is an ideal place somewhere in the Mont Joli to Matane area. Thanks
  21. Thanks for the responses guy. It did update at 6:00 AM this morning
  22. Anyone know how the grooming updates work? Is it real time from the Groomers equipped with GPS. Are most the groomers equipped now or does it vary by Region and club. In Mont Laurier right now.Had so much snow here last night would really like to find where the groomers have been since the storm to make a plan for tomorrow's ride.
  23. Heading out Monday Morning for the Comfort Inn, Mont Laurier. Staying there for 2 nights then another couple nights to be determined on the fly. Weather forecast looks ideal. Can't wait!
  24. Heading to Mont Laurier area a week from now. Was in that area few years ago and stayed at the Quality Inn. Stopped at the various lodges to the N for food and fuel and thought many of them would be nice to stay at. The chain hotels are predictable type of room, cleanliness etc. Lodges look like a multitude of quality and type of room may end up with. Do you find the Sledder package is the best way to travel? On this trip Rasbaska, Mekoos, Chevalier, Windigo could be options. This trip will be my son and my self so not going to be a second honeymoon adventure. This trip considering staging first night from one of the Mont Laurier hotels then spend one or two nights out on the trail. We aren't really geared up for extended saddle bagging but wouldn't need to carry a lot for 1 or 2 nights on the trail at a lodge. Is there a preferred hotel at Mont Laurier? Is next week, Monday Feb.29 the school break in Quebec? If so will the trails be considerably busier? Thanks for your comments.
  25. We rode that area a couple weeks ago. There is gas in Riviere Rouge on the west side of Mont Tremblant park. If coming from the east on 63 you cross the bridge over the river into town. On the west end of the bridge the trail turns N on a rail bed which is on the back side of the main street. Go about a mile on the rail bed and there is a gas station right on the trail. Restaurant next door. We started from Saint Michel des saints, fueled up at the Relais Rouge Matawin at the junction of 33 & 63. It's not on the Interactive map either. Is on the Landuiere paper map. Then headed west on 63 over the top of the park. Be sure you see TOWING's recent post about the section of 33 that is closed some of the time on the west side St Michel
