  1. I can't believe that area never came back with tree growth or plant life. So sad.. mike
  2. Think I'll miss meeting up. I am going home Sunday morning. mike
  3. Jim, Maybe its time to tow a sleigh on your trips what with all the gear you carry. mike
  4. The four hours of vey light rain last evening didn't even hardly take away any of the 3 inches of snow that fell in the morning. Riding conditions today were very nice. Looks like a little more rain may have fallen about 60 miles west of RDL, couple puddles in trail and couple swollen streams. Also rode south down to trail 35 and around to 544 before returning to the#85 rail bed. All very nice. mike
  5. Since 5:00 pm, light rain. Been hanging at 31-21 ^F, hoping higher ground not far away is fairing better. mike
  6. DUI, OUI, DWI is all the same. Just called different names over the years. There can be different levels, for instance most convictions in the states are misdemeanors, but some can be felonies if death or serious injury involved. third offense, etc. mike
  7. 4:30 pm and nothing has fallen from the skies all day. Feels about mid thirties F. Very dark and cloudy out. I should have ridden today. But, the message was outstanding. mike
  8. 6:15 AM, about three inches of wet snow fell overnight, just now changing over to a very light freezing rain/almost rain. mike Few minutes after posting, it stopped. Now just cloudy out. There is hope!
  9. Thanks Jack, always so good to see you and Sandy. Disappointed the bar was so full Saturday that we could not socialize. By the way, you have me hooked on checking the grooming map every day! mike
  10. I hate seeing those 'stuck' pictures. I know its a lot of work getting unstuck. Hope to see you again sometime. mike
  11. Holy crap, Jim, whoever said 'a bad day of sledding is better than a good day at work' obviously hasn't ridden with you. What an adventure. Retrieving your sled in the middle of the night, loading it alone onto a toboggan, getting stuck on a bridge, driving on the ice road, driving all night. I invite you and your wife next year to stay in RDL at the Universal. Your truck will be right outside your door. You will never be further than 125 miles from the hotel doing day trips from the hotel. Each night you will relax in the hot tub, get a message, and walk a couple hundred feet to dinner via a warm hallway. You will walk next door to the store and get a jug of wine. You can drive to some of the fine area restaurants. You will be stress free. BUT, you will be like me, not too many stories to write about. mike
  12. Thanks, I see you have had your share of riding, always enjoy your posts. Hope to meet up again. mike
  13. Few pics of today and yesterday.
  14. A wonderful report, it makes me know how much you love snowmobiling, not just the riding but also the pleasure of meeting new friends and finding hidden gems of places to stay and eat. You enjoy every little bit of the beauty you see on your rides. Thank you for posting. mike
  15. Sounds like an awesome trip, 1500. Surprised you even bothered to go to the County. Today I made the loop west around to St. Pamphile for lunch. 90% freshly groomed, met 8 on coming sleds all day. Snow squalls in morning. Close to the 30*F mark. mike
  16. Great picture of the 'forbidden' tunnel!
  17. Those are some great pictures! mike
  18. Great pics Jim. Always enjoy your trip stories. Read them religiously. mike
  19. Just amazing, a few weeks ago this area had the warm up and wasn't worth riding. They have had some major dumps of powder since then and I am happy to report we are back to mid winter conditions. First day of riding and trails all groomed and perfect, not much traffic, sun out, just stellar! 240 miles in 8 1/2 hours incl coffee stop and lunch. And now I am seeing maybe the forecast for this week is looking more hopeful. Lots of snow, not one ice patch. Did the westerly loop to Rimouski and Squatec. mike
  20. If there is two tunnels, that is it. If you come to just one tunnel, last I knew it was water underneath all winter and they stopped grooming both sides of that latter tunnel. No gold found yet in any of them! mike
  21. Hi Gary, wish you were here too, On second thought, Naples looks pretty nice.
  22. Have fun guys. And be careful. mike
  23. Arrived at the Universal/RDL this afternoon (Saturday). May ride out 35 miles to club house for supper but most likely will stay in tonight, worked all night and then 7 hrs in the truck. Not feeling adventuresome, need more coffee before switching over to vin rouge. I'm in room 110. Cell# 207-522-2673 (text only) Conditions look great. Was looking forward to a big night of drinking and friendship with friends from the Maritime provinces tonight. But seems a sled broke this morning and they won't make it. Universal appears mobbed. Five clerks checking people in. Either a hockey tournament weekend or the bikini volleyball teams are back. Driving up through Maine saw no good sled conditions all the way up the interstate to Houlton. First hour north thru New Brunswick looked dismal, then around St. Andre, N.B. snow kept getting deeper and deeper. mike
  24. Looks like this is the week for a lot of Quebecriders to be on the trail. Have a great time. mike
  25. Will be at Saturday night and thru the week. mike Universal Hotel. mike
