Here are some photos of the new TQ3 trail work taken today north of Lake Nipi. During our visit, were present our FCMQ liaison officer Yanick Claveau, our vice president/operating director Yohan Savard and our trail director Yves Savard. They met on the spot the FQCQ liaison officer / Club Manic-quad project manager Alain Mercier. Unfortunately we have to inform you that the trail will not be operational this winter to our great regret, the south and north portions are not connected.

Is this the same section of trail near the "big bridge" that was closed several years ago? I thought they had been working on a reroute and then somehow reopened the original trail?  If this is the case where are people getting picked up and dropped off by flatbeds and is there contact info for these towing companies? Thanks, we are all booked for this route. Perhaps there will have to be a change of plans. Thanks for any insight.

Crossing Pessamit

The Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec (FCMQ) is in negotiations with the Innu of Pessamit, as it would like its members to be able to cross their territory while awaiting the completion of work on the section.

The North Shore administrator for the FCMQ, André Thériault, is confident. "We want to reach an agreement with the chief, Marielle Vachon. We always manage to reach an agreement. We have to be positive," he says.

The Pessamit Innu Band Council did not respond to our requests for an interview.

Some 5,000 snowmobilers have trail access rights on the Côte-Nord.

If no agreement is reached.

Snowmobilers still won't be able to travel past Pessamit this winter. The new Trans-Québec 3 route, still under construction, is impassable.

Work to bypass the snowmobile trail east of the Rivière

Pessamit is behind schedule.

Since the community of Pessamit prohibits snowmobile traffic on the 33 kilometres of TQ3 that cross its territory, non-native snowmobilers will have to bypass this segment again this year by using a road towing service.

The Manic-Quad  club, which is responsible for the project, says that the work, which began in 2021, will not be completed until next year.

"The work is behind schedule. The drilling for the blasting should be finished this week, and the clearing next week. Eight kilometres are already passable, with seven to go next year," explains club president Pascal Morneau.

We are tentatively planning a loop through there too.  A nice trip for us, ride from Pointe a la Croix to Quebec City, up through Mt Valin then cross at Baie Comeau to Matane and back to the truck. Easy loop.

I would like to do something similar. This stuff gets to be disappointing. On top of the shorter seasons, less fuel and lodging, and increased cost of everything. I am ready to go though! Looking forward to 2024!

Club Les Bolides de Ragueneau 950-04                                                                                           We are proud and pleased to announce that a Right of Passage Agreement has been agreed with the Pessamit Innus Council for this winter. A limit of 50km/h like last year will be applied on the boundaries of the Innus territory.

We would like to thank the Council of Innus de Pessamit, André Thériault our regional administrator Côte-Nord as well as the prefect of the MRC M. Marcel Furlong
