Just returned Saturday from the land of "ultimate trail riding", 1600 miles in 7 days of riding. This was our 13th year riding in Quebec, and I am always amazed at the trail system. While riding on one of the super smooth trails, I thought of all the people who make it possible to enjoy the sport of snowmobiling. From the planning, to the brushing, to the signing of the trails, getting permission to cross private land, there's just a tremendous amount of work that goes into creating a system like this. So to all the people who volunteer their own time to make it possible I say Thanks!! Your time and effort are greatly appreciated. To all the Bernards, Wanda at Estrel, and Saguenay Bill, and all the other people who go above and beyond, to make it even more enjoyable, Merci Beau Coup! And to all who take the time her to post trail conditons and pictures, Thanks also, because if you can't be there riding, the next best thing is reading and seeing about those who are there! Dave

Thanks for all the great pics, if you can't be there, pictures are the next best thing. Especially when you will be there in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to lots of snow and even better trails.

I had the opportunity to go to Logan, Utah last February. Being a "flatlander" all my life, I was amazed at some of those western riders. Our guide was a very skilled rider, and to watch him climb some of those mountains was simply amazing. We had 800R Summits and it was a blast. It's hard to describe the "rush" of blasting through endless fields of virgin powder all day long. My first love in snowmobiling will always be trail riding in Quebec, but if you ever get the chance to ride out west don't pass it up!

The food is excellent there, they serve a awesome breakfast buffet. I think I remember twice out of maybe 8 times of staying there that the trail was decent the closer you get. Sometimes there was low snow, but mostly just 2-3 foot deep moguls. At the end of a long days ride those last 10 -15 miles seem to take forever. Other than that, a great place to stay!

Heard some talk last year of guys getting tickets for not having mirrors on their sleds at some checkpoints. They said hand or wrist held mirrors were not enough, the mirrors had to be fixed to the sled. Anybody have any experience or input on this? Thanks! Dave.

Those TRA clutchs are pretty dependable. One of the best things you can do is keep them clean. I take mine apart a couple times during the season to clean and inspect them. If you have alot of miles, say 3,000 or more you may want to look into replacing the springs, there is one in the primary and the secondary. Repalcing these will help keep up the performance of your sled. Think snow! Dave.

scorpionbowl, I remember that stretch of TQ 5 in and around Mt. St. Pierre, very nice trail, scenery after a fresh snow, "priceless". doobraap, how much per sled to ferry across and how long does it take to cross? Thanks!

Groomer, great pics, it's been a few years since I was on the 595 but it sure made an impression. Yeah Mid Range I know it's hard to pick just one, but I was hoping to get feedback, just like you posted, to maybe hit some trails I might otherwise have not tried. Thanks!

I know everybody has many favorites, but what's one that stands out, weather it's the scenery, the width of the the trail, whatever. This might be a good way for others to find new areas to ride. We took the 595 in the Gaspe back in 2001, and I remember that being an excellent ride, very scenic. But one of my favorites now is the Trans-Quebec 93, in the Lac St. Jean area, starting from the local Shipshaw trail to Relais Lac Jalobert. We've run this stretch many times and it is always a great ride. This trail is always groomed A-1, very scenic, and very little traffic (during midweek). That's one of mine, what's yours?

Just to add, I carry a map of every region in Quebec, cause when the trail is smooth and fast (which is most of time) you never know where your sled might take you. Trails change from year to year so I get a new set every year.

Welcome NHTOM, I just joined in yesterday. You know that all members here are crazy diehards when where talking snowmobiling in September. But that's what riding in Quebec will do to you, it just makes you really look forward to that next trip. Again welcome, should be a great site this winter!

Thanks everyone, this is gonna be a great site all winter. TDI-Ham, well, in eleven years we have covered alot of territory. The first few years were mostly around Mt. Laurier, St. Donat, St. Come and that area. One year we did the Gaspe, great trip. The scenery around Mt. St. Piere is something I'll never forget. We've ridden from the north across the St. Lawerence at Berthierville down to Valcourt and back. We've been to Parent, the Casino in Charlevoix and Quebec City. The last few years we've been dropping off just north of Montreal and then headed toward Lac St. Jean area. Exceptional area to ride, the Trans-Quebec 93 is a must for anyone going to this area for the first time. A-1 trail. We usually make it a 10 day trip, it's just myself, my brother and friend so we get good early starts and we cover anywhere from 250 to 300 miles a day and we try to be done before dark to enjoy the wonderful places and food in Quebec. I would like to get up to Chibougamau once and ride in the Val'dor area once also. But, wherever I ride in Quebec I know it will be the best. groomer, great pictures, isn't that what it's all about, the world's best trails and great scenery. It doesn't get any better!

Just want to say Hi to everyone. As the name implies I'm from Michigan, but do 90% of my riding in Quebec. Once you ride Quebec there is no other place that seems as fun. 2007-08 season will be our 12th year riding in Quebec, can't wait. I always look forward to the posts from Saguenay Bill, Bernard and all the others. Looking forward to meeting others here.....Think Snow!
