  1. Hope everyone has had a great off season.  What are everyone's thoughts on whether the summer wild fires will impact trail openings this winter.  I am considering a run to CLOVA from the south and then back to the east, but wasn't sure about trails being opened.

  2. Hello all!  Was curious if anyone knows why the trails to this outfitter no longer show up on the interactive map.  I assume they are still offering winter services.  Also, does anyone know if they are started to groom from Clova down to Fer Cheval, or if they even plan to.  I know at one point, much of Lepine Rd was groomed and wow was it nice!

  3. Thanks all.  So from what I am seeing the best plan would be to avoid Ottawa on our drive.  Here's where I need some help.  We usually park in Maniwaki and I've looked at using the ferry to cross the river east of Ottawa, but you then have to back track to get back up to Maniwaki and by the looks of things, it is still going to put you pretty close to the city and probably add a bunch of time.

So...Does anyone know of a safe place to park that would basically be right north of the very crossing, somewhere on trail 53.  I would rather be parked and riding before we got all the way to Mont-Laurier,

    Any thoughts?

  4. Hi all.  Planning a trip for next Wednesday.  Will be spending a few days saddle bagging.  Thinking of dropping in Maniwaki, heading up towards Meekos, over to Kanawata, up top and down to Notawissi and then back to Maniwaki.   Curious if any outfitters are experiencing supply problems, including gas.  I know Repos has had fuel issues in the past, but mostly due to traffic.

Any insight would be helpful.   Thanks!

  5. I am a little surprised they aren't using rapids since they are doing virtually.  Our trip will all depend on whether they re-open restaurants.  I realize there are work arounds, but we've talked about it and don't want to invest 22 hours in round trip drive time and not have the whole experience we've come to enjoy.   Boy do I miss the ole days!!

    About the random border test.....

Thanks Jack.  Very informative.  By the looks at the numbers, it would seem they are randomly testing a high percentage of individuals crossing.  Does anyone know if it makes a difference as to whether you cross from the States into Ontario or directly into Quebec.

  7. Reviving this thread.  Anyone having any issues crossing?  Just signed up for my ArriveCan account.  Seemed pretty easy.  What are they doing for vaccine verification, seems like anybody can just upload a doc.   Any troubles or slow downs at the border?  Is there a certain amount of time you have to have your trip plans entered or can you do at the last minute?   Thanks for any insights.  Happy Trails!

  8. Funny that NorthWoods Law comes up.  We were talking one evening about a trip to NH as we have never been there and one of the guys in our group had friends that said it was really nice in areas.  About an hour later that evening, I was flipping through the channels and stopped on Northwoods Law, not a typical watch for me, but saw whitegold on the screen and a sled and was immediately interested.  Watched for a bit and the fish cop was handing tickets out to snowmobilers like candy on Halloween.  Texted the boys in our group and said count me out, I will never ride in that state.

WOW!!  Looks awesome out there!  Bad news on the track!

  10. Well, we surely missed Quebec and Ontario this year, but were blessed to have the best winter in 20+ years here in North Central PA.  Riding opportunities almost everyday from Mid December until now.  Working in the crazy field of healthcare, I for one, was extremely thankful for some great stress relief 3 hours away from home.  Even found some Quebec like conditions on occasion.  Sure is an awesome place to ride when they have a winter.
