  1. As for the pipes on sleds I personally paid too much money to slam a tuned pipe on my trail sled to void the warranty. Plus we are so far in the bush it's a pain to tow back. Manufacturers I would think put the right stuff on their sleds so we don't have to tow a sled home. Think of this . Everyone on the site rides good stuff. All of our sleds are newer than 2014 or newer and are very well maintained. As for this trail they don't want snowmobiles in that area so let them have it but they will come after another area in the future. Just my thoughts guys. Hopefully I am wrong.
  2. That would be the Montreal Canadians
  3. I remember in the mid 90 s paying 1.00 a liter only it was in the Bush. It was off 63 going to east after the 396 trail. We were going to the lodge that burned down. The Canadian hockey team use to go there. Lots of pictures on the wall. So 1.09 isn't bad. But then what does it matter. I'm going anyway. Lol
  4. I believe it's going to be the 24th, Christmas Eve. What better way to spend it then on a grommer make trails perfect. By the way the Gaspi Groomer guy doesn't have an advantage on us does he. Like calling a fellow groomer guy. You know how they stick together. LOL
  5. I oldest son and his uncle went early one year and it was a adventure. First going across a small bridge on a curve he meet a logging truck. Out of no where a log got lose and sure enough it hit his passenger side front tire. No where to go as far as the log. After looking over the front tire it wasn't rubbing any where and it looked straight and it drove the speed limit. On to Mont Laurie. So proud he made me. The wheel was only 4 inches off center. Now to the bad stuff. Not sure where he was maybe on 13 going north not sure. I think heading to Clova. Anyway he went by a cabin and he thought he seen someone in it but was going pretty fast was not sure. Anyway a little ways down the trail they found two sled stuck in the trail with running water. Well back to the cabin and sure enough they found two gentlemen that were in serious trouble. So cold they couldn't start a fire. This is what is amazing is the gentleman spoke French and my boy only English. He said even though they had a language barrier they understood each other . End of story was they got the guys warm . Went back to their sleds and got them unstuck and sent them to the nearest lodging wet again from getting the sleds out. They treated my boys to dinner and drinks and more if they were allowed. Just a story about early riding in the swampy areas. Also how the language barrier didn't effect 4 people doing what needed to be done to save lives. Made me very proud of my boy and his uncle.
  6. I see that picture of the big dog towing the sled. Makes me think about when I was maybe 12 I use to braid baler twine to make heavier ropes. My dad had a old horse named June. Wonderful horse for kids. Wouldn't hurt a fly let alone me. Anyway living on a island in the winter things use to get boring and I did like adventures so I put a harness collar on June with a couple ropes to a hand sled and a couple more to her bridle bit and down the road we went. The roads were and still are gravel and after a couple plowings they get pretty smooth. All was fun until dad found old June with a little sweat on her and it didn't take long for him to figure out just what I was doing. Well after a little grabbing my shoulder and maybe a little kick in the ass that was the last time June and I had that experience. I offend think about the things I did to keep my self entertained. We laughed about it when I was older but they were his babies. To bad a 12 year old can't experience things like that now a days.
  7. Hello Gerry. Welcome My boy and I are going to make a trip this February kinda like what you are talking about. First let me clear this that the Pembrook you are talking about is in Ontario near Swisha I think. Anyway our plan is to start in Swisha and head north on 43 to 63 to Rouyn Noranda area first. Then north farther on 93 to 396 Matagami. Haven't there in years. Then follow 396 back to 93 and then north to Chibougamau. From there head south on 93 to the Saguenay area to meet a friend for a day or two. From there head south on 23 to St. Raymond to meet a couple people who couldn't make the first venture. From there you can go south to the north side of the river and there I believe is a shuttle to you can hire to trailer sleds across to Levis. Other can verify about the shuttle. Then just pick up 5 or 35 on to RDL. I have friends who made the ride from Levis to RDL and said it was easy. The reason we are taking the northern route is because of the snow conditions and traffic. I think the trails are faster and less towns to go through but there is lots of gas available. Another way is from Amos to Senneterre and pick up 83 to Saguenay. Lots of snow usually there too. As for us we are going to leave St. Raymond and pick up 3 and go north to Baie Comeau and catch the ferry to Matane and then to RDL, Levis, trailer across the river and back to the truck at St. Raymond. I don't know how long our trip will take because of weather or mileage we get, I just know this is our plan at this moment. I don't think you can plan anything perfectly when you are saddle bagging on a snowmobile. If you go on the internet and bring up FMCQ you will be able to bring up the Quebec trail map and all of Quebec trails, hotels and gas are there to look at. It's the greatest place to ride in my opinion and the people are the best. The Quebec Rider web site is also the best for information. Everyone here is diffently a snowmobile lover. It's such a wonderful sport. Well hope this helps and most of all be safe. Have fun. George
  8. Just a thought. Should clubs be approached. Most conversations we have are about eastern Quebec riding. There for, should western clubs be able to do some sort of advertising on the web site same as businesses. As many of us know there is many great trails and businesses in the western area. This web site is such a great wealth of information for where to ride, trail conditions and great places to stay and dine. I think all of Quebec can gain . Just a thought. May be way off base.
  9. I spoke to a friend of mine who buys steel from Canada and a charge was made on an invoice for a tariff charge from his suppliers. He called and was told don't worry about it and not pay it . Now he is from Ontario and said the tariff charge wasn't going to make him lose business in the states. Claimed it is all political. Said his billing program just adds it now. Your right Ice he is doing what he said he would do. Don't understand why people are so shocked. My opinion only. Be safe all.
  10. For the best time you could have for your son you may want to think about the February school vacation time to go. It's along way to go to find the trails not ready and or no snow to ride on. Also in many areas the trails have areas that are not frozen and can be hard to pass over. So be careful and be safe.
  11. How you feeling Don? Hope you have recovered well. I know it's hard but take it easy and get better to the fullest. How's the new truck coming. Looks like she's going to be a good one.
  12. That looks like the bar restaurant on the north side of Lac Bouchette. Amazing how places look the same when you only see them ever couple years. Reason I remember we were in there and there was a group in there , mostly women and good looking women and they were enjoying their self's a lot. There was seven of us and a few of the boys didn't want to leave. Turned into a long day. Next day there was only three of us. The other four were not a good influence on us. We went north they went south. LOL.
  13. Yes there is a ferry that goes back. New plan is get to Baie Comeau and spend the night there. Get up and ride up the 3 trail north to Godbout area and if possible have a little lunch and ride back . If we get back in time to catch the 5 pm ferry to Matane that would be great but if not catch the next ferry the next day. Will be able to enjoy this special trail both ways. Our plan is to get to Matane and travel south on the 5 trail or 35 trail to Levis area and trailer back across the river and then ride to our truck. Now this is snowmobiling so things can change in a minute as we all know but part of the fun is the planning. It's an area we haven't been and before and I am getting older and I want see as much of Quebec as possible. I do have riding pardners who are great and we all love to see new places. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and suggestions on the best way to ride this section of the Quebec trails. Oh by the way I live in Clayton NY, really on a island, Grindstone, and woke up to it snowing and a white cover on the ground. It isn't November yet and it makes you wonder what is coming in the future. Thanks again. Be safe all.
  14. Grommer, you need a windsheild on that Honda. I'm the only one who has one here and everyone takes mine first.
  15. Sorry to here. Wife said and she knows that it is great that the antibiotics are working. Can be serious but sounds like you will be ready when the snow flies. Think of it as getting a little r&r for the first ride of the season. Take care and get better.
  16. Am I also seeing some sort of a light on the end of the tester than can be used for a night time use.
  17. Had lunch with one of the boys that goes to Quebec with David and me today. Showed him your post Mike. Big smile came on his face and said I'm going there. Didn't mention we were going to cross a 700 foot long bridge that is 90 feet high. My land we are going to have a great trip.
  18. And that works. My oldest kid got a new golden and headed for the beach. The stories were really something. Of course old dad wasn't invited.
  19. I agree about steering in reverse works best even at the end of the year when carbides are bad. Problem is that I'm not very flexible or you can say kinda heavy and it's hard to see where I'm going. I guess easiest is no fear and keep going. Right carbides are cheap.
  20. One more questions, Getting on the ferry I seen pictures looking like a steel bridge decking material. Should we think about removing carbides before getting on the ferry.
  21. Hello riders. Well we are in the planning stage for a ride this winter. Plan is start in western Quebec and end up in eastern part. Any way question is, we plan on crossing the St. Lawernce on the ferry to Matane. Our thought was to cross from Baie Comeau to Matane. I think I have read that the the trail from Baie Comeau to Godbout was special and looking for info if it would be worth extenting our ride the extra distance to ride that part of the trail. Have a good winter and be safe.
  22. Great day today. Went to the Syracuse Big East snowmobile show this morning. Picked up a couple pairs of carbides for the girls. While I was there seen Bill at the Delta booth. Had a great talk about plans for the winter. He let me know earlier he was going to have trail passes with him so we are ready for Quebec riding. Called my kid to imform him he owed me 300 hundred. Bill said the place was packed last night and today there was a line out the door to get in. Did see some bulk Ski Doo oil there for 36 dollars a gallon but wasn't parked close enough. Won't be long now. Have a good day all and be safe.
  23. What's everyone's opinion on wheel kits. We, like everyone find in March getting to gas stations can be a pain as the carbides are kinda worn. Has any one made their own that work? Thanks
  24. Well I did something special today. I married the love of my life for the second time in our life. Wonderful day with our two sons and three grandchildren and many friends and family. Only one missing was my step daughter. Not because she didn't want to be there. Life is great for us.
  25. Where are you starting and where do plan on going? East or west?
