  1. My kid called me today fron North Carolina and said , dad 7 months from now we will be on our snowmobiles. Wonder where his mind is. LOL
  2. That's done. The wedding that is. I am going 4 wheeler riding tomorrow in the mountains. I will be looking for snow. Report back if any is found. Oh yea these monkeys are mean and they try to attack. Lol
  3. Well I'm in Costa Rica. My daughter is getting married on Friday. Going to look for snow but I don't think I am going to find any. What a country this is. Seen crocodiles, monkeys, lizards and only been here one night. The drivers are something else too. The drive like they ride on Tug Hill. All and all great time for all the family that is here. We all in Quepoes pronounced Kpoes. So happy for my daughter. Giant smile on her face. If I find any snow I'll report back.
  4. Thank you sir. If we get as much snow as rain we are getting I think we may wear a snowmobile out. Lol. Has Montreal got back to anything close to normal? Still very high on the west end of the river. Thanks again.
  5. Has anyone heard what passes might cost this season. I know it's early but I want to be ready.
  6. Wait a minute guys my new snowmobile isn't here yet.
  7. Groomer. Quick question. Is there anywhere near you that the salmon run in the rivers. My brother has a friend who comes up to the Restigruche river area. Medipedia area i think. Just wondering. I don't fish but it would be fun to come up and ride my four wheeler. Thx.
  8. hey Trigger. That sound good. Where are you staying. Maybe meet at the hotel. Water as I said is high. Keep in touch in case you need a place to tie up at nite. I have a few places and a few friends with floating docks that would be save. I am going to be out of town the week before but back before that week of the poker run. Nothing else we can talk about riding a snowmobile. LOL. have a good day.
  9. They have a lot of floating docks. The main facility was originally a lumber yard . Otis Brooks lumber . Back years ago they experienced high water every year so they built the buildings high enough so they didn't get flooded . Not sure about the new buildings. Most docks are under water. A lot of people are in for a big surprise when they get here. The marinas are not putting boats in the water because they have no place to tie them up. It's pretty bad.
  10. Grommer is that logging truck just passing or holding down the bridge. Reason I ask my dad use to back a dump truck out on a dock here on the St, Lawerence River to hold the dock down from high water. Also they use to put dump trucks on the Thousand Is. Bridge, Rt. 81, during high winds. It does look bad for that brown building tho. The river front in Clayton NY all the buildings along the water have water in their basements too. They say it is going to rise another 9 to 12 inches here. Only floating docks are use able here. High water now is what was normal when I was young at this time of year. Amazing what mother nature can do.
  11. I bet that truck would go faster if you let me drive it. Really
  12. Thanks guys. Personally I think it's a great thing that insurance is supplied when you buy a trail pass. I think all organized trail systems should have the same requirement. If it was a more requirement to ride in Quiebec so be it. Greatest trails on earth. IMP. Thx again
  13. Mine was from Intact Assurance. It did I believe talk about FMCQ. I also got two notices and I bought two trail passes. I don't know maybe someone else will post .
  14. Hello all. It's summer coming and it sucks. Anyway I just received something from the Intact Insurance. It has something to do with the FCMQ policy I believe. Problem is it is written in french and I don't know french. Wondering if anyone else has recieved this and if anyone might be able to translate for me. I don't want to have a requirement change and not be aware of it. Thanks for the time. Have a good summer. George
  15. Just have to buy a grommet tractor to tow it. But you would be inside and have heat. Mileage may be down but riding time would be great.
  16. Ok I miss spoke on the windshields. Our 800 renegades came with the shorter wind shields so we replaced with the 17" medium size. They worked great along with the handle bar muffs. Back to the windshields. Well soon after purchasing new wind shields for our 850 sleds coming this fall I find that the new 850 comes with the medium 17" windshield. They came with the deflecters so maybe we can use them. When I put the new windshields away I found a couple sets of deflectors for the 2015 renegades 17" windshields in the trailer. Must of an oversite not knowing what came in the packages. I don't know. If anyone is in need I will put the product number on and if you can use them I'll send them to. If anyone needs a 17" windshield for the Gen 4 platform let me know I got two of them too. I would keep the deflectors. I was told you sit a little higher on the 850 so maybe the stock windshield won't be high enough. Time will tell.
  17. I can't imagine that BRP would accept the Linq system fuel caddy and the storage bags if there could be a problem with the tunnels bending.
  18. This is such a great topic. I agree the new sleds all get great mileage and is extra gas really needed but if carrying extra gas makes you feel better then I think that person should do this. One other thought is the great stories about traveling the north shore trail number 3. I know it has given me a interest. Now saying that I don't believe if the opportunity to ride that trail came up that I would take it mainly because of my age and getting stuck in 10 foot drifts and possibly sleeping in said snow bank. I think a lot of people on this web site have riden all or most of the trails in Quebec and the last one is the north shore ride. Are we by installing the extra tanks just preparing for that ride or a cross country ride or at least if the opportunity came up we would be ready. I have to admit it would be a adventure. I do have some youngsters who i would feel comfortable trying any trip with. Anyway these are my thoughts and hopefully I didn't offend anyone. Have a great summer everyone.
  19. I believe the engineers who design the new two stokes would disagree with anyone comparing the two engines. I believe everyone has his or her own preference and if you are happy that's the way you should go with. I do know some people do not have good luck with a 2 stroke engines, Perfect example is my oldest son doesn't have any luck with a 2 stroke and my youngest will only own a 2 stroke.. Especially when his dad says go ahead and buy a 4 stroke but I'm buying a 850, LOL Number two son is very mechanical and number one doesn't ever get his hands dirty. I do know they ride very different. Of course the younger one has worked on worn out sleds in his teens so he and his friends could just get in a little night riding but knowing they may have to do the same thing over again the next day. As for the new engines they are lubricated where the parts need it and cooled in the places most important. The 850 engine has the bottom of the crank case cooled. Must be a need to cool that area. As for the 4 strokes they are like the old 583 and 600 ski doo motors, bullet proof. I like to think about how lucky we are to have 2 and 4 strokes that you can ride for thousands of miles and know you are going to get back to the truck, My opinions only.
  20. My son and I have been riding Ski doo sleds for years. Our last sleds we bought and installed the Linq medium bag and a fuel caddy. For our clothes we use saddle bags by Gears. One of the fuel caddies because of the miles we travel we use for oil and like you said gas mileage of the new sleds a couple gallons is a lot. The saddle bags are held on with two clips and the Linq bag one and the fuel caddy one. Keep the oil inside at night and it pours easy. Of course there is two of us using the oil. I've seen quarts of oil break in glove boxes. It's terrible. For windshields they come with the small size. We went through that smaller windshield 3 years ago in Gaspe. 20 below every day. It was bad. We bought the medium size the next year and was very happy with them. I have already bought the 17" windshields for our new 850's. Everyone I have spoken to says the 850 is more than the 800 and I loved my 800. Never had one problem. Only opened the side panel to put oil in. I expect to get 150 miles a tank and have more gas in the tank. At least our 800's were good for that. Hope this helps.
  21. This is probly a stupid question but while watching the video, why does the rider's head never move with the sled. I've noticed this on other videos I don't understand it.
  22. This is my opinion and only mine. I have always had studs in my track and we have discovered a few things that I feel is very important. I have a very special person that takes care of our sleds. What we have found is over the course of the summer and previous winter the studs loosen up and we have to tighten to the proper inch pounds. If a studs gets lose of course it is going to wear on the hole made for installing the studs. Some studs we have tightened a full turn to get back into proper specification. Only stud I have ever had pull out was on a 1995 sled with a thicker track. Only my opinion.
  23. Miles I hope you enjoyed your two adventures in Quebec. You spoke of driving 2 hundred miles to WV. I drive 400 to get to Gaspe so I can ride on the best trails many say in the world. I was told many years ago by a fellow snowmobiler that if I ever got to Gaspe to say a prayer for him because it is the closest to heaven I will ever get. What I am saying is the trails have been this great way before paddle tracks came along and it's not up to me to change. I also pay and support the clubs of Gaspe for the privilege to ride their trails. It isn't only in Gaspe the paddle trackers are wrecking the trails. Any where there is logging roads there is off trail riding. And I think that is great but don't tear up the groomed trail to get there. Reality is if this keeps up there won't be any trails because of the damage that is being done. What happens when Quebec Hydro says no more trails along the power lines because someone got hurt and sued because they hit a boulder. Hopefully that will never happen but it could. I hope you don't take my response personally but many of us see a problem coming and in my opinion it needs to be addressed soon better than later.
  24. Well I'm sure my thoughts or questions may open up a can of what ever but what to hell. Questions like are these guys connecting to their off trail locations have trail pass stickers on their sleds. Do they have insurance and if they hit me who would be responsible. Now a couple weeks ago while riding near the Mont. St. Pierre area I seen tracks and the boys with me seen off trackers dive off the groomed trail over the edge into trees below. At first we were thinking suicide and then I was told they did it on purpose. Now back to the subject. Most of the problems are in the mountain area some will say but I have noticed the paddle tracks in western quebec also. I feel the off trail people as for the new trail riders to quebec need to be educated on how to leave the trail for the next rider the same as it was when he crossed it. My bitch is the corners and hills. They just get tore up so bad from the trigger happy person. Just because you have 120 hp don't mean you have to use it all. I really did wonder about the tracks going over the edge of the trail.
