I love the trail along the river over that way Mike. I was thinking going to Matane on 5 for overnite then over toward that was and Squatech/Bienville way in the morning and back to RDL. Id be open to either ! What trail is the one that sweeps along a river heading back towards Squatech way ?

Think both have food/bar ?

Looking for place to stay....good food/bar is a priority....and would love a truck/trailer lockup secondarily. Anyone ever stay in this town ? So many thanks ! Mark

Saddlebag ride in Matane for a night. Never been there. Looking for a place for a night. More concerned theres decent food and/or a bar than a fancy room...priorities you know. Hopefully something easy on/off trail. Any info is great ! Not sure how many options there is there......

Makes sense Mike. We go thru St Pamphile first to gas up then cut over to Tourville for lunch...then start heading back toward RDL direction after lunch.... we usually head back toward 35 to the 571 over to Club Hiboux...then wing it back. Funny how we all get used to certain patterns. As you know we did Mt Valin QB at Christmas...awesome...and will do some Jackman to Beauceville area then loops a few times this year again. We will be in RDL I think 2/28 for 4 days. We have 4/5 days in Caribou booked on 2/8 that could switch to somewhere in Quebec. Thats evolving now. The more We ride up there the more I want to. 🙂 You know our problem is work gets in the way of making the travel time worth it...but when it happens its the best. Retirement cant come soon enough.

Mike Have you tried the Tourville log built relais ? Another option out that way. Really nice place...decent food. Mark

Speaking of aviation...a wise man once said: “Id rather be on the ground wishing I was up in the air, than up in the air wishing I was on the ground” It can get nasty and dangerous sledding mid winter in a storm for sure. Makes sense to just stay put sometimes...and drink wine.

The (shocking) takeaway here is each crossing has different rules for what they accept. Amazing to me. I will carry both just so they cant screw up my time.

Iceman Great tip. What makes this a great site is this type intel shared. Now....Im no french expert.....but what this next to gas ? Riding Oqquossic to Eustis to Bosebuck early tomorrow. It is bitter down here so the trails should be sweet and hard early before the crowd. It aint RDL for sure. Next week its Snodeo in Rangeley....mainly a gathering of many friends of ours each year although we ride a bit Thur/Fri then put the sleds away. Saturday trails there is too crazy for this cat. We spend the day at Moose Ally Pub with friends watching those RaveX kids doing tricks and back flips off a ramp and acting very foolish ourselves at the bar...on foot. 😉

Mike whats the mountain trail ? Is that that sweet left hand turn trail heading back from St Pamphile off 35 that shoots left generally back toward the river/Hiboux direction ? (557 maybe) Its wooded and twisty a bit. Love that ride even if its not the mountain trail ! I always struggle with with if we should be eating at the golf course or gassing up and heading to the big log clubhouse in Tourville !

Interesting ! The Officer actually said going into Canada you can have an expired license and they will likely let it go...but US is tougher. I always heard Canada was tough especially DUI’s, etc. Bottom line...If its run by any Govt....it makes no sense. Why would I expect consistency at our US border ? Meantime cross from Mexico illegally without ever having contributed a penny to our great country....you get more rights than us and you just may get free healthcare. Don't get me going. Haha Going forward....Im bringing my passport just to make sure they cant screw up my play time. 🙂

Always have the passports of course but got the Maine Real ID which is the enhanced license. Didnt bring my passport. Registry told me they are good for US, Mexico, Canada.....but...thru TSA only I found out. Used it coming thru Jackman to Quebec. No issue. US Border Patrol informed me coming back thru Jackman though it isnt good for Border Crossings...only TSA....and he has had several people like myself misinformed. He said the computer showed we cross sledding and have passports and let me slide. He also said if I got the wrong Officer wrong day it could have been a huge PIA/delay for us. Wont happen again ! Figured my stupidity might save someone a headache.

Neil did some real road tripping himself but on his motorcycle as you know. Tragic life....So sad. First time seeing him in 1/77 as the back up band for BOC. Didnt know Rush at the time. That changed forever that nite. Both bands were absolutely stunning. Great great memory. Saw Rush 3 more times headlining over the years. Enjoying the posts for sure as always. But....No beaver ?

Hahaha. Saw that years ago but didn't have enough memory or genius in me to remember it or find it. ......it is sure fitting...maybe. Hopefully all it is was is a good night of beaver trappin. In any event...we do need pictures. 😉
