  1. Yep. We use nothing but cordless on our commercial construction sites. Battery technology needs to improve again for transportation to be feasable. So does the charging network. That will be the biggest hurdle in remote areas.
  2. Oh no the expedition won't go that far. Lol.
  3. That is actually the usage scenario that makes sense. The average cottager on inland lakes runs their PWC for an hour or two at most and then returns to the same dock where it sits for hours. Batteries can handle this range. You get out of just about all maintenance and don't have to winterize them. It's the one electric useage scenario I can actually see working for my own use. Sleds going up and down a ski hill probably work too. Decide to take off on a multiday saddlebag trip in the Gaspe and it all falls apart. I think the real question is what did they figure out with that R and D budget. They either have some big technical breakthroughs that will allow them to attain more investor cash, or these guys are gonna tank. Hopefully they didn't spend it on a guage or an app. Still haven't sorted out why they're chasing sales in South Africa and the UAE. You'd think you could find the sales a lot closer to home at less cost. https://snowgoer.com/top-stories/electric-snowmobile-maker-taiga-lays-off-70-pauses-production/32338/
  4. They're sitting on $10 million in inventory (about 500 sleds or water craft). That can't be the real issue with a $70 million loss though. Said they spent like $15 million on R and D alone last year. Definitely more to this story.
  5. So my 2015 with 30,000 kms that i paid $8000 for 5 years ago isn't still worth $12,000 to sell today? Guess I should pull my ad down. Lol. Considering the economy, the end of Covid and the weather, I'd say BRP has nothing to spitt at with those numbers. Still pretty respectful and better than pre-covid.
  6. Hope they're carrying a firearm. Heading up into polar bear country. Bears are probably still out on the sea ice, but I wouldn't be taking any chances.

  8. No local knowledge, but groomers are out today according to the app. That's positive
  9. Nice!!! Now that makes sledding look cheap.
  10. Facebook says they want to preserve the base through the warm spell. Will re-open if it snows.
  11. California stole it. https://www.facebook.com/100067913960512/posts/pfbid02stifnyY1Heq5UVEiJi6a6fTbHAbkLzoEXmsg8W7Ai8nzuTnmUGWgbYKcEPuJ3fJjl/
  12. That's kinda my plan too. Thanks for the 1st hand report.
  13. Anyone been through town in the last few days? Are trails holding?
  14. Several teams scratched today. Team Maine was leading (they are past winners). Looks like they had a wreck and pulled one sled in on a rope for a significant distance (if they pulled from where the app shows them slowing down its gotta be well over 100 km they had the sled on a tow rope). Pretty neat to watch. Gonna have to make the trip one of these years. Would be neat to see them get a real big dump of snow mid race. If that doesn't occur it looks like the race will go fast. They ran over 600 kms in something like 10 hrs today. That's not trail riding either. These guys are a touch nuts running this at the speed they do.
  15. Interesting development. Running a 650km loop north of Lab city, coming back to lab city due to no snow on the south coast. Then heading for Goose Bay and the north coast. If you haven't download the yellowbrick road app. Will be interesting to watch. Race starts tomorrow morning. 10 am local time in Lab City I believe.
  16. This is what I needed to hear. Now big debate. Northern Ontario or North Shore. I hope both areas survive one more week so we can get a trip in.
  17. You should head for Kirkland Lake and run the Northern Corridor. They got 6" - 12" of snow in this last storm.
  18. Was it a lack of snow around Roberval? Or just rough?
  19. Great report Alain. We rode a loop around Saint Donat last Wednesday and then a loop from Saint Come up to Pouvoire Coin Lavigne and back on Thursday. The odd tough stretch, but overall, I'd call 95% of the riding mid-season conditions. Maybe not as much base as the area is used to, but very good riding still. Here's hoping the weatherman isn't correct.
  20. Thanks, I got a reply back that 90% of the white trail is still closed. So on to plan B I guess.
  21. Anyone have any info on conditions on the white road? Also any chance the trail east of Sept Isles will open in the next little while. Was it lack of snow or something else holding that up?
  22. Haha. I guess beggers can't be choosers. Well put.
  23. The app is frustrating. Seems to contradict itself.
  24. Worst case you run down the highway. Ideal no. But its a short jaunt. I wouldn't change your plans over it.
