  1. Been there many times for gas, but to be honest, not a big fan. The kids crawling all over your sled constantly will drive you nuts. Plus everybody trying to sell you stuff as you ride by. Never had bad gas though from there.
  2. Man, that looks awsome, Alain. You don't know how lucky you are to be able to just saddle up and go like that. keep the reports coming.
  3. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all the sled freaks out there.
  4. Actually, this is scary. There are actually people driving cars at 65 mph with this amount of intelligence. Amazing. This is really hilarious.
  5. That looked awesome, Alain. It baffles me how you can take so many awesome pictures while you ride. My group barely allows for a pee break, let alone stopping for pictures. And that's a shame. We are planning a Gouin run some day and with that detailed report, I can see that the short cut across the reservoir might not be the best ride and that gas issues could come to play. Hope to see a few more posts from your rides before the season ends. Unfortunately, for many of us, it has already. :(
  6. This is good to hear that the 63 is being groomed. That was always horrible. This adds another loop into the itinerary.
  7. Great to hear it turned out as well as it did, Alain. That could have been a lot worse. Hope all stays well for them. I myself have witnessed 2 horrible accidents in my 30 years of riding, which I guess isn't too bad, but bad enough. All resulted in totaled sleds, and a lot of broken bones, one very major injury. One involved a hill, another a sharp turn. I know I tend to ride on the upper half of my speedometer more than I should, but, my rule is that cresting hills and going around bends, I keep the right ski in the snow about 8" off the trail. My theory is that it helps hold me to my side and also if someone hits me, I have proof, my ski track off the trail, that I was on my side. One other thing that burns me up is the stupid person that decides to pull over for whatever reason right past a bend or hill. People have to wait for straightaways with plenty of site on either side of you so approaching sledders can see you well in advanced.
  8. If it was super cold, the ice melting off the heat exchangers might have been freezing and leaving an air pocket. Also, check your anti-freeze to make sure it's 50/50 and not straight anti-freeze. The water wetter does work, but bleed it well. The exhaust might be your "doughnuts". They are known to blow out on Yammi's. They make new, stronger ones now to replace them. They also have an idler wheel bearing issue. I change mine every year. Can't help with the other issues.
  9. I've done it twice. The dealer filled out all the paperwork needed for customs and warranty transfer from Canadian to US. Then I loaded the sleds in my enclosed trailer and said have a nice day as I crossed the border. Never declared the sleds. Yes I took a chance but I was younger then! A friend of mine use to buy Sea Doos when the rate was 1.40 to 1 and re-sell them here all the time. Never had a problem at the border. Again, that was a long time ago.
  10. X-2 on going in March versus Feb. or Jan. You defiantly should pick a destination in the morning and call ahead. Last time we went, we had to stay at the 3rd or 4th choices in some instances. You might find yourself going 1 or 2 towns further to get a room.
  11. Anybody know of any danseuses around the shawinigan area? Been to one but didn't know if there was another anywhere I never frequent those types of establishments. he he
  12. Last year in Old Forge, a snowmobiler missed a turn at a very high rate of speed, on one of the back roads and hit a bank and hit a tree at full speed, head on........ 17 feet above the road!!! Hit the tree with his head. It was 2 a.m. and he was drunk. I don't want to say what the description was when they removed his helmet, but just imagine a head with no skull bone. I argue the drinking and riding topic till I am blue in the face but yet can never get anyone to see the light. Please don't drink and ride and please stay tight to the right. My kids will be happier.
  13. Man if this post doesn't get the juices flowing, nothing will. I envy you, Alain. To be able to ride those loops every weekend. And, your pics are loading very fast here.
  14. In fact i think the BIGGEST differences between us as nations is what brings us to Canada in the winter. Canada has the most incredible trails and women in the world! :) Amen, brother!
  15. Happy Turkey Day snowmobilers. Looks like we better start dusting off the iron, there's snow in them there hills!
  16. Hey look! A SkiDoo disguised as a Yamaha!
  17. I know it's a pain in the a** right now, but I hope this is an indication of a very white winter. God knows we had a wet summer. Hope it carries over.
  18. Whether the sleds were legal or not, that was just plain brainless leaving that drag there like that. Especially if it was getting covered with snow. A similar incident happened years ago leaving the "cafeteria" relay at the St. Michel entrance to Mt. Tremblant. The original trail heading towards La Macaza started off by a hill climb about 1/4 mile from the relay. A small group visiting from Mich. left with the last guy leaving kinda late. Well he hammered it to catch up. When he crested the hill, his group was stopped dead in the trail because there was a snowmobile parked right in the middle of the trail with no one around! The guy came over the hill about 50 mph and ran right into the last guy in the group, breaking his back! The sled ran right into his back. It was not pretty. What the owner of the abandoned sled was thinking or doing is beyond me.
  19. That was great! I need one of those cause I wasted BIG bucks on one of those Dyson vacs and they suck. (literally)
  20. Happy 4th to all the snow lovers everywhere! Already tired of the summer heat.
  21. Another thing to keep in mind. Should you be carrying a large sum of money, they only allow $5000.00 per person in your possession. A buddy of mine and me went up one summer to purchase a couple of PWC, since the exchange rate was good at the time. We came across a border guard who was forced to work a double shift because someone called out sick. Well, he wasn't happy and was making almost every other car pull over to get checked out. Well, they found $10,000.00 in an envelope in my buddy's brief case. That would have been ok since there were 2 of us but, because it was all in 1 envelope and not separated into 2, $5000.00 apiece, they confiscated the money and we had to turn around! It took my buddy 1 year of red tape to get all but $1000.00 back, which they kept for the fines, etc.
  22. Wishing all a Happy Easter. Hope everyone had a great riding season.
  23. That's exactly what it is. A buddy of mine had one on a RX-1. He loved it. Great end of season report, Alain. Since most of us are done for the year, it's great to be able to still see your reports and reminisce of this past season, and to start our dreaming of next year. Hope to see at least 2 or 3 more reports from you before it all ends.
  24. Roqemount is a great place to stay, never had a problem there. As for the river, yes, it could be open by now. I cant speak for anyone else, but, whenever we came up to it and it was open, we just hammer the throttle and skip across it. Now, we have never encountered it 100% open, but, 75% yes.
