  1. Rhode Island went door to door quarantine today for NY seconder homers to quarantine them inside their homes for 2 weeks early today, Trump talking about quarantine for all of NYC, and parts of Connecticut and New Jersey. Getting real serious, like living out a Stephen King movie.Better to be pro-active than too late, this think only works if everyone stays home. One guy buys 68 bottles of hand sanitizer, only works if everyone has a bottle!!
  2. BRP stock was down to 32 cents a share at 4pm yesterday...Yahoo finance reports corona virus and slowing economy could be final straw....market advice is to stay away from this stock.... @#^&!*!!...this is a company that we all love....they are now out of boats, really hope they survive this!!
  3. For sure, but 35 percent unemployment right now and Canadian dollar tanked big time, looking like a big recession on the way. We all knew this great economy would not last, but no one saw this coming, stock market is also down 30%, everyone is taking a big hit.
  4. I have become good friends with the dealer over the years, we both run a couple of business'. They are quite honest with me about how our shops are doing thru this. We all have a big drop in calls, they are contacting people but commitments for new orders are way down, and they typically move 350-400 sleds a year. They are thrilled to not be carrying many left-overs. We are all in-waiting to see how this all shakes down. I have a 19 backcountry and a 20 extreme. Decided to stay put as both are under 4 year Best.In 1918 Spanish flu lasted 2 years. Hope that is not the case here. If it is....will any places like Manawan, Wemo, Chapis, etc allow us thru...worst case scenario...we will all sit and see how this shakes down. Millions will be taking a big hit, some will not make it financially, very uncertain times for sure.If this is real bad but goes away in August...maybe ski doo will have some great deal...or maybe they will scale production way back , lay people off, and worry about next year. Any way it goes I think trade value just took a huge hit.
  5. Mike, the dealer I use in New Hampshire finished this year with almost no inventory left over and they are a big dealer, best position they have had in years. Now they are open, but have basically no customers. I am willing to bet that this covid 19 situation has put most , if not all plans way on the back burner. Today I would like to reach out to our good friends like play hard, gt rider and Mrs. and all our other members who are living in NYC and surrounding areas to wish them the very best through this nightmare. I cannot imagine living in NYC thru this. This morning on the news they said they were expecting 50% of New Yorker's to contract the disease, Prayers to our friends, Be Well, Bob.
  6. I love the optimism, only good thing I have heard in 2 weeks!!
  7. You can see where a sled has gone around it.Diesel is hard to light, must be an electrical issue, not that it matters anymore.
  8. I got to ride 25 days this year and managed 5249 miles, got over the border with 2 hours to spare before they closed it down on both sides late last week. One of the rides was 1950 mile solo event during the 35 below cold snap, oxygen helmet and absolute zero jacket were the best investment I have made in years, never cold, first 4.5 days saw no other riders.Finished the season with snowmaster and friend Jeff, wonderful season!!
  9. It is really incredible how many places have burned to the ground in Quebec out on the trail over the years....can help but wonder what the percentage comparison is but it seems extremely high probability that places struggling a bit burn down a lot.
  10. Chris, I had a great time, you guys were great, we will ride again, hopefully we will all visit with JG again, he is a prince, you are absolutely correct, he is what Quebec is all about, they do not come any better, hope you have a great year and can find a lot of trail time this coming season, I already have a month carved out, be well, Bob.
  11. These guys are my heroes, they do an incredible job for us, I saw a table of 16 of them at Repo on Tuesday afternoon, I think they were getting in their last ride knowing it was over.
  12. No, she is crying, we are leaving too much on the table, a lot of folks are just arriving at their camps to weather this thing out, they will enjoy what we have left behind...good for them, after all it's their home.
  13. I guess we all knew this was coming, it is for the best, for all of us, thankfully it is March and not November.Time for a heartfelt thank you to all who made this season a great one for so many of us and prayers that we all make it through this uncertain time to enjoy another season together, everyone be safe and stay healthy, looking forward to seeing everyone in 2021!!
  14. The Canadian dollar has been all over the place in the last 24 hrs, as low as 152 vs US and closed yesterday at 136 now at 137, oil has gone up and that is helping Canadian dollar value, what a roller coaster, looks like I was very lucky to be standing in the right spot at the right time...sometimes you are better of being lucky than smart, does not happen often, these are very uncertain times to say the least.
  15. If dealers in Canada sold to US riders it would kill the dealers in Vt, Maine and New Hampshire.Ski-Doo knows this, no free enterprise here!!
  16. Same for me Chris, asked where I was, who I was with, and said welcome home, I told him I was disappointed, hope to hear I had to wait 2 weeks so I could go back to hang with Jean Guy, he laughed. Things are changing quickly, I was so right a week ago to rush to the border before it closed, a really great time was had with you guys, later, Bob.
  17. The rate was 152 when I exchanged at the bank at 11 am this morning on the way home. All the workers at the bank were very unhappy it was tanking, I was thrilled, been here before, it will come and go, but this is a very good opportunity for US riders!!
  18. it was 152.8 early today, dealer in joilette told me ski-doo told them they cannot sell sleds to US people , period. That sure did not stop me from going strait to the bank to change over a few thousand for next season, it is on sale right now!!
  19. Chris, Jeff, I crossed over at 12 noon 6 cars back, took 40 minutes, 2 cars were brought to the extra search area, ironic or not, they were all aisan or chinesse, looked like profiling to me. Anyhow customs agent looked at my passport asked where I was riding and with who, said I am sure there were not a lot of people around you there, I said almost no one, he handed my paper work back and said welcome home, that was it.I told him I was disappointed, was really hoping he would say come back in 2 weeks, so I could go back to Halta, he thought that was funny. Cabanon said they would close for the season today, so repo has gas, and food, kanawata has gas only, then Hanois in Parent for gas, 33 by manawan is closed and 83 through wemo is closed, so the season is ending in limbo with a good 4 to 6 weeks of snow left in the north country.Traffic was nearly normal around Montreal and basically all the way back to Mass, filling stations and convenience were operating pretty normal, we will see how this shakes down, oil was under 20 a barrel at noon ans THE CANADIAN DOLLAR VS US WAS 152.8 WHEN I STOPPED IN JOLIOTTE ,I AM BETTING ON 152.8, IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE IT WAS THAT HIGH, SO INTO THE BANK I WENT TO CHANGE OVER A FEW THOUSAND.Next season is on sale right now!!Also, a lot of Canadians with camps in the bush are on the trail to their camps, passed many going north with their trailers as well on the highway today, kids are out of school, extra vacation, very lucky!!!
  20. I got into Cabanon late, this shut down trail business ran a few people out of gas. I met 3 who left 2 of their team 7 miles from repo, went to get them with my spare gas, father and son, father was mid 70,s. Now I need gas again, so back to repo, then I get down the 345 10 miles and rescue another 2 out of gas, and back to repo for more myself, second time. 3rd time is the charm, and I ride in to cabanon, coast in easy as I know I am putting the finishing touches on a 5200 mile season. Could not leave these guys trail side, there was 8 inches of fresh powder, without it they would have made it.Just ate dinner here, place is empty, Jeff and chris, your truck is still here!!A very memorable ride with snowmaster and friend Jeff, great guys, very capable riders and a blast to hang with, we will ride together a lot in the future.Trails are great and there are a lot of folks going north to their cabins with their families to wait this corona deal out, do nort blame them a bit. We rushed to the border last week hoping to get in before it closed down, mission accomplished. I was almost hoping to get stuch here for a few weeks, hanging with jean guy cutting firewood and clearing roofs, he has not changed from 32 years ago when I first met him, 78 this past week, a wonderful man, they don,t come any better, staying with him was the most relaxing time I have had in years, tip my hat to Quebec hospitality. Everyone be safe and healthy...december is 9 months away, could not of ended the season any better, Bob.
  21. Ice Good thing you guys had to turn around, if you were able to go further and did that for a couple of days, you could have been stuck there for a long time...sometimes things happen for a reason.Wasn't to be this time.
  22. I am going north in the morning, last week for me, I will be riding the extreme this trip, no real itinerary other than riding with Chris tomorrow, maybe more , just going to see how it shakes down, if the weather holds out, I may stay longer, hope the sled is running well, be safe, happy trails, Bob.
  23. Yes, you got it, I will try real hard to be there before 9, I am ready to ride when i get out of the truck, just have to put my gear on, see you in the morning,Bob.
