  1. Gullyrider, thank you for your input and especially thank you for clarifying , publicly, what I have known for years, and yes even though many suffer financially, many on the other side just do not care who it hurts, as long as they get their way. It really make no sense to me, you would think that there would be a large push back from business and employees, if these trails go away, folks outside of the city will see a lot of business hurting. I am a business man and when I see the amount of people at the hotels, restaurants and fuel stops, it makes me feel good that these people are earning a good dollar from us..and unlike the US, most are very happy and smiling to be busy and running hard...there is a lot to be lost...or gained...in this conversation...that will not go away!! Thank you for this post.
  2. When the snowmobile industry was told sleds were noisy, they responded, when they were told riders were hooligans they responded, when they were told sleds polluted and 2 stroke had to go, they responded with etec and four stroke that no one thought would be a go, thanks to all that criticism and hate for our sport, we now have the best sleds ever and not that it is a good thing, but an older group where everyone respects property and the environment, all that is left is to try and close trails and cut regions off from each other. This sport contributes billions of dollars into the economy and employs many in a wide array of industry, good people working hard to support their families. The time has come to realize how much this sport is relied on for many peoples well being, next time powers to be are at the table, this should be a large part of the conversation, when St Donat was cut off from the park by environmentalists, business and people their have suffered financially and want the park reopened, it should happen, no one was being hurt with sleds passing thru there.
  3. very similar to the suspension on my old 320 Olympic!!
  4. I often thought that environmental lawyers in the States had the best line of undefinable BS I had ever seen, but clearly some of them have made it north of the border, I truly believe in protecting the environment but, how about putting this down in common sense language that anyone can interpret and understand exactly what it means and what it does not mean, the way it is written 50 people could say it means 50 different things...only thing for sure is it is TROUBLE!!
  5. You can be sure it says or means something and we probably will not like it, politics is a dirty business where governments have no money, they have your money, and when the government does something for someone or gives someone something, they took it from someone else, exactly why I love Quebec, getting lost in the trail system and leaving all that garbage behind!!
  6. Not good, when you are that far away from anything you have to have a fire station, ambulance, etc, big risk to be with out one, hopefully they get back on their feet soon!!
  7. A year ago we left Portland Maine on the cat ferry, 175 miles to Nova Scotia, rode to Cape Breton then PEI, and down thru New Brunswick, Northern Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and back to the Berkshires, Cape Breton is a really great ride, another great Canadian Get away for sure!!
  8. definitely today's hero, hope he does not have a sled!!
  9. Gotta love it, back in the mid 70's we had a blizzard in late May, dropped a foot and went down to 10 f for 3 days, nobody ever saw it coming!!
  10. J G, great pics of the moose, in New York they would break that phone open for the money!!
  11. there are very few places to use them in Mass. I understand that Quebec now allows dual sport motorcycles to use the ATV trails, I have to get there and try it out. It would be a blast to go to Baie Comeau and ride up to Sept ille, those trails and bridges are incredible on sleds and must be just as good for ATVs.
  12. JG I have the same ATV..Honda 500 foreman, only use it on my property to haul log splitter and a cart for firewood and yard work, it is now 9 years old with 75 miles on it, still like new, how many miles do you have on yours?? By the way I hope you know you are living a dream everyday you are out there, most of us on here live all year waiting and wanting to do what you do all the time...you are a lucky man!! Bob.
  13. Ice, best wishes to you and your family, today and all year long, Happy Birthday, Bob.
  14. Shore, I have planned many trips to snowmobile, fish and hunt over the last 30 years. So familiar to hear someone say count me in, I am going, reality has 7 out of 10 never going anywhere, sometimes it is a time constraint, but a majority of the time it is money, so when I am booking a trip I get money for lodging or guides or what ever I have to reserve for in advance and plan ahead. funny how that cut all the talkers out of saying they are going to go. With that process I have found the guys who really will go, and it is a small number. I do agree that if you are a serious rider on this site you usually find someone to ride with and make friends, there are a ton of really great folks on this site, it's a special place, Bob.
  15. JG, part of the beauty of the area, I understand the accident problem, I also see how healthy the deer population is, clearly the habitat can support the current population, as always great photography, Bob.
  16. JG, you are living a dream spending summers at this camp, very lucky, hoping to do the same thing when I retire!! Bob.
  17. JG, when you ride up on a log pile is that considered off trail like riding a sled up onto the drifts along the side of the trail??I will have to show this to Sno Horses' son Nick, he loves to do that stuff!!
  18. Alain, great event, almost May with winter trails...AMAZING....and another great report...what a season, cannot think of a better way to end it..and one last question...does Krikri have a sister?? Hope all is well, have a great summer, see you next year, Bob.
  19. I remember how soft the landing was on my Olympic with those bogie wheels, good thing I was 12 years old, it landed almost as good as a brick, but we thought it was great!!
  20. definitely one of the best springs ever and NOBODY IS RIDING!!
  21. Looks great, does not get any better, basically the trail is all yours, carry a little gas, warm enough to eat a sandwich trail side and enjoy!!
  22. 6th anniversary of your 50th...a little more than half over, still a lot of trails in front of you...Happy Day...Bob!
  23. Tthis has been talked about for 20 years, long over due to be standard equipment on all new sleds, with today's technology this should be easy!!
