Tom, They had quite an adventure. Later that Saturday afternoon, my brother, Rich's sled went down to running on one cylinder. They cound not find the problem themselves and the skidoo dealers had already closed for the weekend. They spent the night in Hebertville. Next morning at 5am my brother, Marc left on the sled to go get the truck which was parked at Berthierville, near Sorel. He was riding in frezzing sleet even though it was way below 0 degrees. The trails were heavily drifted with snow. He had a hard time staying on the trail even with his 137" Freeride. His electric shield could not keep up with the ice . He had to slow down and ride with his shield up. Meanwhile Rich was worried something had happened because he had not heard from Marc. He thought Marc would be back with the truck by late afternoon. Because of the conditions, Marc did not get back to the truck until 6:30 PM. Once he got there, they were able to communicate, so it all worked out OK.

Ice man is right. My brothers rode that trail last week. Breaking trail in 3ft of snow. They were getting ready to turn around and go back due to lack of signs and a sketchy river or creek crossing. Two locals showed up on RMK's. They had a gps track of the trail. They found a spot to cross and my brothers followed the RMK riders the rest of the way.

Thanks for the report. This is the area I usually start from on saddlebag trips. Do you know if the ST Anne river, on trail 3 heading east towards Charlevoix is passable?

Hi, My name is Al. I've been riding in Quebec every year since 2005. Between 2-4 trips per year. All saddlebag trips. I usually ride with my Brothers, who like to ride hard, long days with lots of miles. Not everyone's idea of a good time. There are also times when I would like to ride in Quebec, but I have no one to go with. I currently ride a 2011 Skidoo 600etec Renegade X. Just trying to get a feel if you think we would be a good fit. Either riding with my brothers and I, or with me when they cannot go.

Groomer, I was with Ian, from Monster Performance when we spoke to you at the clubhouse on Mar. 17th. I have been reading your posts and enjoying your pictures for several years. It was nice to meet you in person. Thank you for the trail advice you gave us. From Matane and east the trails were all excellent. It snowed several inches Thursday morning and we had a lot of fun riding in the powder. We went as far as Grande Vallee and then turned around on Friday and rode trail #5 back towards Mt. Joli. Trail #5 was great until we arrived at a trail closed sign just before Mt Joli. We took a local trail that ended in a village called "Price", which is next to Mont Joli. Luckily, I can speak a little french. I spoke to some people from the village who were practicing drag racing their snowmobiles in a field. They told us that trail #5 was closed because the river had opened up. They offered to drive Ian to Mt Joli to retrieve the truck and trailer. I've experienced it many times, but i cannot get over how friendly and helpful people in Quebec are. We finished up riding 620 miles in three days and it was a great last ride. Alain

I have a garmin 276c with the GPSQC and city navigator. While on the sled, I can pick a preloaded waypoint, city, or any other item that is in the city navigator database and my gps will route to it with turn by turn directions and distances using the snowmobile trails in the GPSQC. It works the same as using City Navigator on the GPS in your vehicle to route a trip. Very useful for me, as I always do saddlebag trips and I do not pre-plan my trips other than the general area I will be riding. I usually reserve lodging on a daily basis in the afternoon.

Sounds good. Are the RWS maps also routable capable like the GPSQC maps are?
