  1. Holy crap- If I had to pass a test like that in my time, I probably would have been in kindergarden until I was 16...
  2. Bon Enfin !!! Nothing like riding in the spring when all is melting. Strange I just fertilized my lawn this afternoon, and will probably cut it next week, Meanwhile you're probably going to be racking up a few more miles!!
  3. Mr switchback 2006- I think you should post the pictures from your weekend's ride... Just saw them on CMIQ....
  4. 2006-2007 season- I started Dec 31 2006 and finished March 18 2007 in the park. 2007-2008 season, I started Nov 25th and finished April 13th- That's about an extra 8 weeks. The Trembalnt park is a good starting point for me as it's only 1 1/2 hours by trailer. If you're willing to trailer about 3 hours from Montreal- People were riding the end of October from L'etape, and am sure they will be for a few more weeks to come. I can say that this winter was well appreciated, and as I heard the farmer's almanac is predicting snow in Novemebr this year. From what I was told the almanac was right on about the weather we had this season. Maybe I should buy one.. Beats checking accuweather every day...
  5. Greasemonkey- Here I put a picture of a Yamaha in- In 7 months it could be you if we are lucky!!!
  6. Would be great if the winters continue to give us 5 months of riding without having to trailer up to the Mont Valins area. People are saying that they might make it to the beggining of June in the Valins. The packed snow on the groomed trails is 3 to 4 feet deep and off trail everything was still holding up great- After the 18-20 degrees we as supposed to get this week, might be a different story.
  7. Well a buddy and I decided to head up to Saint Come to try and get another ride in. I saw it was snowing in Saint Donat on Saturday, so figured it couldn't be that bad. Well we left Coin Lavigne rode up to Saint Michel, had lunch at the Central and rode back. 158 Kms, and from the pictures you'll see the only real problem was all the trafic we met.... I wonder if we are going to be seeing winters like this from now on- We started November 25 2007 and were still running yesterday..
  8. Here's just a few- Nothing special, but just a taste of what we had for winter this year.... First ride Nov 25 2007 Mont Tremblant Park Black Mountain in St Donat Jan 13 2008 (picture in my avatar is taken at the same location, but facing the other way)
  9. Great report and pictures- Poor old groomers have been earning their keep this year. With the amount of snow we've had in the last few dumps, machinery has been breaking down, getting stuck and just ovearll getting beat up. Thanks to all the volunteers and members that help keep everything running all season. It's one thing to overhaul a dozer in the fall- It's another to be repairing it out in 5 feet of snow..
  10. New price 5250$- Machine is a hoot to ride in the powder. Anyone? Mileage is about 6600 kms. now.
  11. Geeze you should have tried the Dragon in your picture- Now there's a sled!! LOL!!! I saw an ETec 600 a few weekends ago- I couldn't believe how quiet it was at idle- I looked at the tach and the thing was purring at 1000 rpm! The guy who was riding it said the fuel mileage was about 20 mpg (imperial) and that oil usage is about 1 liter per 1000 kilometers. It will be interesting to see how these DI motors make out in the long run. Have to admit, Bombardier has really been working hard in the past years with new innovations- Nice to see. As for the 4tec- 1200 cc 120 hp- I think they are going way safe with this puppy first year release-(displacement versus hp output) Time will tell, but I have a feeling they are going to start tweaking it as I would assume there is some room to squeeze out a few more ponies- Maybe even slap on a turbo...
  12. Should not be a problem- The Jacques Cartier club groomed until the 12th of April last year and the snow was probably 1/10th of what we have they have this year. I just noticed you said east of Quebec city- Where were you planning on leaving from?
  13. New price 5499$- Runs like a raped ape!!! Has 70xx kilometers on it now. Offers?
  14. New price 5750$. Great machine for roosting your buddies....
  15. smclelan Good thing the sleds didn't have the low cut racer bling bling style windshields....
  16. Great report- I don't know what's better the actual riding or the misadventures... Glad to hear nobody was hurt and that you managed to get the fire under control.. I think some of the best riding memories are when you have "hiccups" in the trip. And meeting people on the way can always be entertaining as well.. Post some pics sounds like a fantastic trip.
  17. The trail is not dragged but it was open 2 weeks ago. There was a right of passage lost on the rail bed, however all you have to do is follow the trail onto the lake and it by passes the nice red fence that was put up from some disgrunted owner- Who by the way isn't there in the winter from what I was told.. We rode to Huberdeau and headed back. We tried to get to the Relais sous les pins, but it can only be accessed from St Adolphe. The original trail is closed.
  18. I believe there is a "Quebec Inn" in St Foy. Stopped by a few years back. Seemed like a fairly large well secure establishment. Might want to try there.
  19. Secure parking, people being a bit more careful and what seems to be a bit more police presence this season seems to be working. I know for a fact there are still thefts going on, however it is nothing compared to what was going on 5 years ago in some regions.

    poker run

We are taking out a sick friend today, so we won't be participating in the poker run- We might however be around in your area today as the trails are always easy to ride and easy on the body. Be sure to wave if we cross paths.
  21. I have to admit- For the season we have had this year so far- This site has been pretty slow. I was expecting this site to have loads of traffic by December-January. Maybe it's just quality and not quantity- For those that aren't aware there is a possiblity of a good (up to 30cm) 12" dump coming tomorrow. Another thing I noticed this year is the lack of Americans- Has the canadian dollar and fuel prices made you guys change your minds this year?- All I can say is you are missing out on some of the best riding available in Eastern North America.
  22. It is a very sad situation that gets plastered all over the newspapers whenever there is a fatality- Alcohol, drugs, speed, wreckless driving. For all the anti snowmobilers out there this is absolute gold. The media makes us look like a bunch of wreckless, irresponsible alcoholics that never do anything but polute and make noise. I have been an avid snowmobiler since 1977- It's a passion for me. When I went for my first ride when I was 6 (in 1977) I remember having to beg my mother to go out with one of my father's friends on the back of a 1971 Snow Cruiser. 31 years later my mother still worries because of all the negative publicity we get. I would think on a given weekend in Quebec there has to be 50k sleds out there on the trails. If there is a fatality, front page news, Look in the paper monday morning to see how many fatalities happen on Quebec roads- 5,6 10? Little side bar on page 2. It only takes 1 bad apple to spoil the whole crop, from what you see in the paper that bad apple gets all the publicity and it unfortunately it is never good publicity.
  23. We ended up heading down to Glen Robertson on Sunday- Trails in that area where awesome- Did you and your hubby by chance ride by us? My Buddy and I were having a chat on the start orf the railbed in Rigaud when there were a few yammies, doos and a Z1 that came by.Was around 11:45 am.
