  1. Been there a few times. They have clogs slippers to put on. It is a pain if you are only buying gas but we always had lunch of some kind. Kinda neat in my opinion.
  2. Iceman Question. Do they have a web site or could you relay a phone number for me. I am making plans for next week riding out of mont Lauier with a new NY rider for a out and back trip. I think going to a out post camp will either scare him from ever going to Quebec again or he will be hooked for the rest of his life. I think it will be the later of the two chooses. Thanks
  3. I also call Dominic and he said something about some logging going on. I am going to call him on Friday and he said he will know for sure. I want to go on the 17th and spend the nite in Mont Laurier and get a early start Wednesday to somewhere. Doesn't matter where. I do like to go to Clova. Middle of nowhere. New guy going and he doesn't know what he is going to get.
  4. Something different i noticed this year. In no way am I bringing this up in a negative way. I have been riding in Quebec for over ten years and this is the first year I have encountered the trails being beat up so much making me think I may be on Tug Hill where there is so much traffic. Now is this from maybe the clubs due to the economy being pour, that the trail pass sales are down and they need more to keep the trails perfect or maybe it was the conditions. Well there is one more thing that I noticed this year and I don't want any one take this the wrong way. I noticed the amount of off trail sleds with the 2 and 3 inch paddle tracks that are on the trails going to their off trail locations. I just don't remember the trails being so choppy leaving the corners before. I didn't see any more traffic then previous years and I met the groomer as often. I did watch the off trail sleds, when I seen them and it wasn't a lot that when they took off there was a lot of snow being disturbed. I never looked to check trail pass stickers on their sleds and I assumed they all have one. Anyway this is something I noticed and was wondering if anyone may have had the same thoughts. Look I'm don't want anyone to think I am against off trail sleds being on the trails. Hopefully I just had a bad experience or maybe getting old. I just hope I didn't piss any one off for this post.

  6. Try Mount Laurier. Two main trails are close by. 13 and 63. Maybe 4 hour drive from you. Was there a few weeks ago and all was good. Look on FMCQ web site for clubs. Hit english and click on maps and it will show all trails in Quebec. There is a rail bed trail and trails though the woods. I wouldn't start any farther south due to the time of year. Only my opinion. Have fun.
  7. My son and I left from Mt. Laurie first week in Feb. and went east to the Lac St Jean area. The ride over was good and bad but when we got there oh my goodness. East and north we road for a day and half and it was great. We had friends who rode a couple days east toward Valin area and they said it was perfect. What amazed me was the local and green trails. Drive wise it is the same there as to RDL and there is just more snow than Gaspe. Don't get me wrong Gaspe is something special and we were planning on going there but the conditions we were told are not up to par compared to other years. We have been to Gaspe for the last two years and still plan on going back next year just because we have not seen it all yet. Our trip we followed 93 to Val- Dor back to on 83 to Clova and a local trail south to Mt. Laurie. 1500 miles and they were wonderful. Plan is back to Gaspe next year and the Valin area the following, God willing. This is my opinion and only mine. Have a good time.
  8. We left Mt. Laurier a couple weeks ago. Left our truck at the Comfort Inn. They charged us 10 dollars a day but the manager had us pack it away in the back and they had cameras watching it 24 hours a day. If you get there and spend a nite you don't pay for the next day. They do alot of business with snowmobile people. We felt safe. The trail is, 63 I believe, about 200 feet from the parking lot. From there you can either go north on 13 to Parent or west on 13 toward Val-Dor. Only my opinion. Have fun. I do say to my son now, if your sad just think of trail 322. It was amazing that day. Have fun and enjoy.
  9. Want to thank all of you for the great support and ideas of new suspensions and taking advantage of a longer trip n March. LOL. To GSX 800 that was us at the saw mill you talk to. I'm sure it was my son you did most of the talking to as he is the talker of the two of us. He is, as most snowmobiler's have , my best companion to ride with who truly takes care of his dad. We have did this ride for many years and I am so thankful I have him. I do like the 2016 model idea and I never thought of it so thank you. I think some thing air ride would work. Again thanks for the thoughts and ideas. Still alot of winter left. So go melt some snow. Thanks George
  10. Well that makes my day. Have been kinda scared to ask. Thanks.
  11. Hello all. We, as in my son and I just got back from our yearly ride in Quebec. 1500 miles and it was wonderful. I recently found out that I am going to get a hip replacement and my question is has anyone that is riding had this happen to them. Is there going to be a problem in the future? Is my 1500 mile rides over with? I do have 1 more ride in early March and if it is going to be my last I want to know so I can make the best of it. Good or bad any experiences by others would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

  13. After reading your post i do understand a lot more about how the tax money is being put back in to the trail systems. I guess my point I was getting to was how to get more money back to the small clubs to also build bridges and put in culverts. I read this web page a lot and it kinda is upsetting to me when some do say something negative about a trail and maybe the club just was out of money to groom. No matter what the trails in Quebec 99 percent of the time are top of the line and the clubs should be very proud of them selves. For myself I live in North Carolina and come to Quebec every year and never once had a bad ride.
  14. What needs to be talked about is how the hikers may be hurting the wild life when they walk the trails in the spring and disturb the spring time mating season. Or scare a bird off their nest so a fox or coon can come in and eat the eggs. These people want the parks for themselves and they know if they bitch enough we as snowmobilers will give up. We need to do the same as they are doing , get stupid laws passed when no one is looking and harrass the state people the same as they do to get your own way.
  15. I have read everyone's post and there is one thing that no one has addressed. On the above pie graph there is the one I don't agree with. Now let it be known I am not from Quebec or Canada even so if you think it's none of my business, so be it. The part of the pie is, TAXES, From the time anyone starts a snowmobile adventure we pay a tax on fuel for our truck, motels, gas for the sleds, food etc. Now that tax is 10 percent plus and couldn't a small club in the trail system use that money for fuel, labor costs and parts for their groomer so they could afford to groom more often. That way the trails we all encounter that are not as nice as the clubs with more members would be up to par and everyone would be happy. These only my bitches and I do believe Taxes in Canada and USA are too high but why is it up to the clubs to raise money for the governments where we ride. I expect to hear there is nothing that can be done but I feel some one should try. After everything I have said the trails in Quebec are best to ride on and the people that run the clubs are truly saints for doing it for all of us.
