Thank you. Yes I believe we will grab 3 day passes. I may grab a year pass as I will probably be coming back up more long weekends and maybe a Gaspe run later in the year. Thank you for the update and the info.

Heading up very early in the morning. Any new snow or anything expected over the next 3 days? The reports I see from here are maybe a couple inches.. Also I found out the Drakkar doesn't sell the permits (we always picked them up at Safari) so I was wondering if anyone knows where they do close to the Drakkar (old Safari). The owner said something about a gas station across the street does?? Thanks.

I will take 3/4" of snow any day over rain. A few more inches during the week would be good. Thanks for the update.

Thank you! Keep me posted as we are watching the weather for up there constantly, but not as accurate I'm sure as what you see and hear. Our group is getting excited as the riding here in NY is basically none. Only put on a couple hundred miles here and no improvement in sight.

We are getting there around noon Friday and leaving Sunday evening. only doing day trips this time as time for some of my group is limited. I will definitely let you know when we are there. Thanks for all your helpful info. I just hope the trails are good with as bad of a winter we are having. Excited to be back up again. I will give a review of the new place but as you said Bernard is a hard act to follow. What a great guy he was. Always made our stays great.

We just booked 3 rooms in shawinigan (Drakkar) and I was wondering if any decent snow is expected there this week. The weather I have found researching it says snow Tuesday Thursday Friday Sunday. Any real belief in those forecasts or is it only wishful thinking. At least 6 of us Coming in Friday morning. Thanks.

Mr. Ice, In your opinion is the trail leaving the old Hotel Safari in decent shape and would allow us to ride up to Latuque, etc... Would like to bring a few people up for a long weekend next weekend and wanted to make sure it was rideable without hurting the sleds. Thanks.

I by chance tried calling the old Safari number and it was answered by a guy that didn't speak English so he gave it to a woman that could speak a little English. She said it will be open but only the hotel not the motel (meaning the main lobby building will be open). I asked about the heated garage for sleds and she said yes it will be available. Hard to communicate with both not speaking each other's language but I appreciated her attempt in answering my questions.

Thank you Iceman. I have stayed at the Safari numerous times and it works well for our group and riding destinations. So if you do get any new info or numbers it would be greatly appreciated. Chris

I agree. Many other places to stay and enjoy. I used to be a fan of SMDS, but once I tried other areas I found that my time and money can be used and enjoyed in less traveled and worn out riding.

Yup 3 years ago we walked in on a friday night (not expecting much as it wasnt thursday) for some pizza and beer and we got to witness the full body painting and wash off shower in the all glass shower on the dance floor. Lets just say the girls made sure every nook and kranny was clean. lol

It is a great place for the bar and restaurant. Close to gas and other needed business (repair, etc). Like others said basic rooms, but if you only need a bed to sleep then it is a good place. Our group for years rented a small condo at Au Petite Gibiere (or something like that), it is maybe a mile from Le Central. Great owners and nice little "apartment" for the price of a regular room. (full kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms upstairs, etc..) Been a few years now since we have stayed there (or even SMDS).

I would be interested in joining this ride. Sounds like a great time. I ride out of Shawinigan and would like to see some new places.

I would be interested in possibly meeting up for a ride. I am 44 and ride a 2013 AC Turbo SnoPro. Big mileage rider so any size day I am comfortable with. I am also a boater. Sold my 2002 38 Topgun a couple years ago. just picked up a Hustler 388 Slingshot with 700's. I actually have put on Boat poker runs on on Sacandaga (with helicopter and video crews). I plan on starting them up again. King Sting entered my run a few years ago. Maybe I can get some of you over to my pond for a run. Let me know when you have a more specific time and place and I can see if I can join you. Love riding Canada and would like to be shown even more areas of it. Thanks. Chris

I am off for 10 days Starting friday (3/1 - 3/10) and I planned on doing the Gaspe loop, but snow seems to be an issue on the south side so I thought about hitting Shawinigan from friday to sunday. maybe mid week or even next weekend. ? I would love to meet up with other riders and try new places. Let me know what your schedule looks like and maybe we can meet up. I live in the Saratoga, NY area.
