snowmaster2112 got a reaction from MrGutz in FCMQ wants to cut 5k km of trails
Spot on Bob. Everything you mention is 100% correct and “hasn’t been the same since Covid” is an understatement!!!
I am really glad I got to experience some of the best snowmobiling on the planet over the last 25 years in Quebec.
I am also equally as glad that my riding days, doing bag trips and spending oodles of time and money are behind me now.
Even before this article (which is depressing and another kick in the nuts) I have come to the realization that I’m just not having the fun I used to and spending a lot more time and money trying to do so. As I was riding this season a little voice in my head kept saying “something has to change”.  What exactly that is I haven’t got fully nailed down yet. Like so many others I have snowmobiling deeply embedded in my blood and can’t see giving up totally yet but I’m just not having near the fun and reward that I used to have/get. This all being said I am going to reflect over the summer and fall on how taking a new approach to where/when/how my remaining snowmobile days will be spent.
Whatever it is I decide I look forward to what will be the final chapter and hopefully the most rewarding of my snowmobile days.

for anyone that dosnt know yet. The Iphone 14 and above has the chip that enables satellite texting. Verizon here in the states as well as providers in Quebec are now on board with this now AND IT WORKS !!! Saw it first hand on our Gouin/Chibougamau run out in the bush with Andre#2. He texted back home that we were at half way point and she responded back with a 🙂
Best of all. NO monthly fee other than your regular cell phone bill.

supposedly a Google pixel 9 series supports satellite connectivity but only emergency services right now. Apple somehow has the upper edge on this right now as it already works for regular SMS messaging. I would expect in the future all newer model phones will have it. But if you want it to work now....Apple 14 and above with IOS 18
It's a game changer and i'm sure InReach and GlobalStar are NOT too thrilled. Again...seen it work in person and it's slicker than cat shit.

    Just awesome!!!
I was just thinking….24.5 days and 5100 miles.
I never kept track back in 2020 but I did that 10,061 that year. I was out of work though so that made it possible. Would have never been any other way. I hope to be able to do it again someday and have a goal of 15K
hopefully run into you next season George and until then have a GREAT off season

    Agreed
what will be tough is the usual this time of year. Roadsides, parking lots, gas stations and hotels. Skimping by now so it won’t be pretty after the warmup/rain
    but the trails….tons of snow
