Imagine if Taiga could install a sound track that played out the sound of a two stroke triple triple!

Ford currently does this with its F150's running on those ecoblow engines. You can use forscan software to shut it off.

How about a wind mill mounted to the front bumper.

A stretch...but while at a gas station fueling up during moose hunting season, a fellow pulled in towing a utility trailer on which was a 5 cubic foot freezer and a small generator which was running to keep the freezer going. The small generator would burn very little fuel. Tow one behind your electric sled and charge as you go. Works for locomotives too - diesel to dc electric.

  2. Some nice places for sale there. Given the upswing in prices of vacation property in parts of Ontario, you could buy one of those lodges listed for the equivalent price of a summer cabin - or camps as we call them where I come from - and not open them as a business - use as your year round vacation home.

    Hi Mike,

    sweet wrap.
3 hours from Stanstead would put you in St Raymond.  The place to stay is the Roquemont.  I consider it safe.  From there you could go to L’Etape and back one day.  La Tuque and back the next day.  Day 3 would be your choice.   I know you said basecamp for the first time, but if you felt like it you could go to the Saguenay day one and base camp 2 days there.  It’s 180 miles from the Roquemont to the Saguenay region straight up 23.  Plenty of options to stay up there.  Most use the Delta.

Depending on how much you want to spend, in the same area with trail running through the property is this place:

    https://www.auchaletenboisrond.com/en/

The roquemont is basically a motel - as opposed to having your own chalet/hot tub etc.

English spoken, cook your own meals or order in. Wife will like it much better. Plenty of trails. Fuel in St. Raymond or bring your own gas cans.

With regard to the St. Zenon  mention above, snow if more consistent north of the seven falls area. Try this place:

The folk singer? Sorry momentarily confused....I was thinking of Gilles Vigneault....a winter song...not sure where he is from...he starts to sing about 40 seconds in past the stringed instruments....

Mon pays, ce n’est pas un pays, c’est l’hiver

Meanwhile here's another spot for you....

Is the village St Jean Port Joli? Think it maybe the Le Massiff ski hill you see on the north side of the St Lawrence.

You are correct sir!....I remember you liked that area a couple of years ago now I think. The first picture is the trail to La Pociatiere and that "pingo" would be seen from hwy 20. Incidentally if you are planning to stay in one of the motels there, make sure this trail is open as the geography does not lend itself well to low snow conditions and it is the only sled trail out of town.  The middle picture is on a main trail south of St Jean Port Joli.

the first pic sure looks like the scenery as you head up 20 towards riviere du loup.

OK ...close by where ? BTW the pics are all from the same general area...iceman seems to need some cheering up...☺️

  7. The process to vaccinate everyone in Canada is going to take many months - projected up until September. In the meantime, even those who are vaccinated are told to continue with the social distancing, mask wearing etc. If you do get vaccinated, ensure you have "official"  documentation. In terms of future border crossing, the anti-vaxers are going to have a hard time of it.

  8. Are there any ground floor rooms available at this motel yet? Stayed there in August two years ago and there were none - had to pack my stuff up a flight of stairs to second story despite asking for ground floor due to mobility issues at the time. I was told there were no ground floor rooms - not sure if there were not any, or not any available at the time. You seem to know a lot about this place?

  9. You should see porcupines and their love of road salt....friend of mine with a Chevy Fierro brought the car up to the camp during the winter...every single cooling and heater hose got chewed right off by porcupines...and those cars had a history of over heating to start with😏. Porcupines also love a bit of plywood for dessert as well.

    Thanks for the article!

  10. As mentioned above, the document clears up what the FCMQ wishes to change while the debate around Bill 71 continues. There are email addresses to which to respond to state your support of their initiatives in this regard. It is interesting reading for all those who snowmobile in Quebec. I am also particularly impressed with the comprehensive response to my email which suggests that the FCMQ is a great supporter of its clientele.

Best in the world, but if you are in this site I am not telling you something you dont already know. Gonna be a tough season.  By April I will be shaking like a crack addict that needs his fix!!!!!

I know one guy in Ohio going to head out west to Yellowstone. Places out that way. There must be some decent sledding in Minnesota, Wisconson, or other states just south of the Canadian border? A bit of a drive from the east, but extra vacation and planning might provide "different" destinations. If you have no other choice...

  12. I RECEIVED A VERY COMPREHENSIVE RESPONSE TO A QUERY ADDRESSED TO THE FCMQ. YOU CAN SEE IT BELOW IN A WORD DOCUMENT

This post is probably unnecessary as most people I have talked to have had no problems with the trail police and the fixture of a registration plate on the tunnel (or lack of it) but there seems to be some stirring of the pot regards the passing of Quebec Bill 71 and its possible implications. Here is the legislation as of May 2020. If you feel it is necessary print it off and carry it with you.

So, if your particular government allows Quebec registered sleds to operate in your region, county, province, country etc. with the legislated placement in Quebec, you are allowed vice versa when visiting.

There was a time in Ontario when the remote club in Dubreuilville was in danger of loosing club status as they would not get 50 permits purchased through their club. A number of us who didn't ride there bought there and they got their 50. (permit money is now distributed differently)

This came to mind with the pandemic this year, so I emailed the FCMQ to see if any remote clubs were, as we say "sucking the hind tit". They recommended a certain club on the north shore. I ride all over the place with no particular club preference, so when I bought my trail pass, I put their number down on the form. I will be getting another pass before December 1st, so will be engaging with the same strategy.

Might be something to consider if you are purchasing a couple of passes and traditionally buy from some of the more popular clubs in Launardierre, Chaudierre Apallache, etc. where populations are larger and many people purchase through those clubs.

BTW - permit purchase was very smooth this year and insurance rebate arrived promptly as well.

I'm looking at this as an incentive to visit a region of Quebec that I may not have previously considered...quite a long trip from where I am, but have always wanted to see that bridge!

After all, it is the trails and the clubs that build them that lead to the businesses.

In some ways there may be a silver lining to the border closing...our American friends will re-discover snowmobiling choices in their own country ....we have already seen good information shared about Maine and other areas. Myself, I am on a email feed for Pittsburg Ridge Runners in New Hampshire, and totally impressed with the community effort behind sledding there, would like to get there sometime as well as other areas if and when there is snow.

Thanks to Operation Warp Speed there is hope for a vaccine.  Undeniable.  Just as undeniable as widespread voter fraud.  DC is THE circus.  The circus may never leave.   Certainly not any time soon if Creepy Sleepy Big Guy and the demented diabolical democrats are finally able to complete their coup of lies against the man the American public elected to try to clean it up. By the way Big Guy says masks are better and Cuomo doesn't want Trump's vaccine efforts.  Just keep sending the sick to nursing homes and let Fauci and family watch the Super Bowl without their masks.

In case you are not aware, the Pfizer company denies ANY tie in with Operation Warp Speed or accepting any federal money. The outgoing Vice President attempted to claim it was due to Trump's efforts which was very swiftly rebutted by Pfizer. I not sure about the rest of your rant although I have extended you the courtesy of reading it a few times just to see if I could make sense of it.

  15. Given the response from the sledcore mulisha crowd demanding their rights blah blah blah last spring when Mr. Nicholson posted some crucial warnings about covid19, the same yahoos will probably ignore this message or his challenge. Past history regards his missives to riders to stop trespassing, stop using aftermarket exhausts. etc. being an indicator.
