  1. Today was a IB Day. Cold, low of 0F, high of +6F, blueberry skies and great trails. IB day is as follows: "Blue skies smiling at me nothin but Blue skies do I see Never so the sun shining so bright, never so things going so right Never so the days hurrying by when you in the Saguenay may how the fly". Had lunch at the best place in town, Truck Stop. Then stopped at Relais du Lac for a hot chocolate back at 4Pm with 180 miles for the day.
  2. I met Ken in 1991 in Jonquiere. I still carry his business card with me that he gave to me that evening. Great man. Thanks Mike for letting us know of his passing. RIP Ken.
  3. Spent today getting my sled accident squared away. Insurance company is sending me a check and I sold the wrecked sled to a salvage company in Alma. Now I have a nice sum of money towards a new one. Thanks to Daniel for his help. If it wasn't for him it would have taken me 3 days to get it done but with him 1 day was enough.
  4. Today we rode great trails and even the not so great trails were great. Had lunch at Mont Vilain and the took 367 to 328 to 93 to 23 to St Bruno, stopped at the Marchand Restaurant for a hot chocolate and back 383 to 93.
  5. Hi Randy Pleasure meeting you and your son. Come back up again. Real long drive for you.
  6. Just noticed you are from St Agatha. Ask Ken L about this region and me. He is a friend of mine.
  7. If you want to come to the Saguenay stay at the Delta. I cam help yout with daily trips of 200 miles per day. Staying at Mont Valin will limit you to daily loops. I stay at the Delta most of the sledding season and know the area very well
  8. Yesterday we went to Auberge Eva in Lac Bouchette for lunch. What a great place. Took 83 to 355, trails were very good. On the way back we took 355 to 83 to 603 to St Andre, gased up in St Andre and then took the new trail, 603 that connects St Andre to 23 then to 368 and then 383. 190 mile day. 368 had been hammered.
  9. Thursday and Friday we rode a combined 250 miles. Thursday werode up to KM 31 and then across 267 back to 93 to 328 to 134. Lot of snow on trails which made steering very difficult for me with my chest as sore as it is. Friday morning I had an interview with local TV station so we never left til after 10AM. Had lunch at Relais du Lac, then onto Alma and back to the Delta. Snow was in the air all day, very windy, trails were great.
  10. We got 6 to 8" from this storm. Looking good here.
  11. Rode 125 miles today. Had lunch at Mont Valain and then we rode thru Alma , stopping at Ski-Bee-Doo for a coffee. Passed the groomer that was in Lac Kenogami a week ago. Glad to see it up and running. Experienced something today I have not see in the past. Temps were varying 20F in places. At SBD it was 6F, got to the Delta and it was 26F Lots of horfrost in the Alma area.
  12. Got to ride with jak, Mr and Mrs Daniel and Mr GutZ today. Got in 85 miles. Stopped for coffee at Bec Sec and had lunch at the Sugar Shack. These were my nurses today. Great bunch of QR members.
  13. No problem riding out of the Delta.
  14. The Delta is the best place to stay for what u would like to do, day trips out of hotel. Be sure to make reservations. This past week this hotel has been full almost every night. As mentioned nice secure spot for truck and trailers and sleds. If you need any help I am at the hotel and will be more than willing to help you anyway I can. I just checked, the hotel has 2 handicapped rooms, one with a shower and one with a tub.
  15. GutZ boys to arrive tonight. The matchmaker, me, the one who got you and Phil1 together is here. Other QR members are here as well, the don't post much. Florida Snowman and Jim were here last night.
  16. Irving Berlin aka IB. . Irving wrote over 100 songs. White Christmas, Alexander's Rag Time Band, Easter Parade, GOD Bless America, Sister's, which should be your song now that you have 2 of them LOL and "Blue Skies smiling at me, nothing but blue skies do I see". A list of his songs follows. He lived to be 100 and had a summer place very close to where I was brought up. Berlin's place was not far from the the famous diamond cutter Lazare Kaplan. Kaplan was a gentleman dairy farmer on the weekends, he had someone doing the work. He shipped his milk to the plant my father managed. History lesson for today is finished. Class dismissed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_written_by_Irving_Berlin
  17. Thanks for the get well wishes guys. If I didn't have the Tech Vest on I would probably have broken my sternum. We had 6 to 8" of fluffy snow. I was the last in a group of 4, it was snowing hard, wind was blowing and lots of snow dust. I didn't see the turn. They had plowed snow about 3' high in the turn, it was rock hard, with the new fluff on top of it. Looks like about $400 US in plastic parts and bumper. Banged up shin just below left knee, right shoulder, sternum, cut bridget of nose, 2 places above that and cut lip. Now to order parts and them on. Horse will be as good as new. Feeling better today.
  18. Snowing here this AM. Probably got 2 inches so far. Didn't ride yesterday. Had to tune my XM radio in, replaced air switch for my wheels, adjusted the strap that holds up my scratchers and tuned in my suspension. Lot easier to do in heated garage than outside in 0F temps.
  19. Great to see you RR as well as 603 Backcrounty. Yesterday we had a great ride. Went to Onatchiway for lunch and then took 484 which has been rerouted in parts. Then took 482 to 367. Stopped at the Tin Hortons in St Ambroise. Trails were great. Came upon this guy and helped him get out. The snow was chest high. After helping him, he never said thank you. When we went into Onatchiway he was there with his girl friend/wife. Still never came and thanked us for getting him out. Flatlanders LOL. Today we went down to Auberge Eva in Lac Bouchette for lunch. What a great place this. If you are passing thru Lac Bouchette take the time to stop in. 355 goes right thru it. On the way back I stopped to take this picture. What a sled.
