  1. Not surprising at all. I was kind of thinking it was too good to be true for them to allow us anywhere in the national parks again.
  2. I would say the terrain varies some but no big elevation changes really. For the most part. You will love it. Big fast trails and usually not very much traffic. Signage is real good out there and the last two times i went out west we rode almost every trail out there. Been there many many times. Where u staying in La Sarre? Villa mon Repos? Val d'Or? Forrestal?
  3. Nice! You are headed to some Super-Highway like trails the 93 from La Sarre to Seneterre is smokin. But hard to find a bad choice out there. Trust me.
  4. Go for it Duster. Like Jackstraw says, there in that region are some big trails. You can really cover some ground. Myself, I have never been riding in Ontario but most guys I meet and talk with who are from Ontario(and I've met alot)tell me not to bother cause only northern Ontario is really anything like Quebec ridng. I apologize in advance for you not wanting to ride anywhere but Quebec after this trip.
  5. Yeah for sure Steve, She's a big girl. But man can she run. Seriously though I thought the exact same thing when I saw the picture. The truck squats a bit even empty but it's got the full hydraulic lift thing that goes up then slides out and drops the bed on the ground to load whatever. So she is weighted down before it's even loaded.
  6. Yeah not what you thought eh? Figured I better uncover the mistress and take her down for her annual check up. Maybe now it will snow some. Gotta love when your dealer says come get our truck and bring her on down. Merci Pierre and Motos Thibault. First class.
  7. According to Auberge du KM31 facebook they had 3" new snow yesterday, but so far no snowmobiles in sight, lots of VTT action from what I hear. So if they are still quadding that much it says to me there is no where near enough snow for sleds yet. If there was enough someone would be riding for sure. Things can change quickly up there for sure.
  8. Strange happenings here.... A bit of white percipitation is tombing down. Nothing crazy but the grass is almost covered.(for now). Hearing Charlevoix region may get 10-15cm. They say just this dusting here in Shawi. Was raining like crazy just hours ago.
  9. Hey smclelan. 10 days....nice. I like your style. Longer the ride the better. I have said it before i will say it again. West is Best. Enjoy Duster and like was said above you will be craving for more Quebec trails after this first run. No doubt bout it.

  11. I was thinking just that but was not ready to say it.
  12. Good news is it's been a bit colder last night and today, bad news is no snow in sight. It's early yet but we had snow already this time last year. Not rideable snow but we had snow on ground. We need cold to freeze the lakes and rivers up then we need the snow. Not sure of how much in Mont Valin. i am sure there is some snow there just not sure how much. Weather shows rain here thursday friday could be snow up there but here is supposed to be +8c not gonna snow at that temp. Patience will be required this season i do believe. Time will tell.
  13. Agreed I love to see any new(old) trail it's better than losing one. I for one would run this only if I had to, With it open the days they are giving it right now. Gonna be a popular run its a nice trail for sure. Actionjack I have a feeling we will not see the linear parc trail ever come to be. Just seems to be no talk on this. Too bad. Maybe they will make the same kind of deal and get something open with the same limited hrs open like this trail. Speaking of which has anyone ever seen this before? The limits on days trails are open? First time I think i have ever seen it. Some trails are not 24hr trails that I know but seeing trails only open 3 days out of 7? Lets hope this don't become contagious.
  14. "Security at the Universal is said to be so good, that it is the only place in Quebec that Iceman hasn't been able to stick one of his 'Iceman' decals." Blasphemy... Look for it it's there. Love the Universal. Security? Like this?
  15. No compararision to QC trails is all I am saying. Simple as that. I am sure you do a fine job, not knocking all the volunteers that make it happen, but if you Ride in Quebec it's hard to do anything else. Like drinking cheap Tequila or having the choice between Ramden Noodles or Filet Mignon. You feel me?
  16. Sounds like a nice jumping off point for Shawi. Nice! Any riding is better than none for sure. Off season is way too long. During the week is not bad up there near the Village and south.
  17. Prepare to be underwhelmed. Trail is trails no offense but it's not worth it. Trust me.
  18. The name is Motel Drakaar now. I will get the number and post it. Just saw the new sign with the name today. There is also a new restaurant across the street (where the old Rose Mer was) its a Pizzeria Socrates, serving till midnight all week and open for breakfast too, as well as the Subway right there across the way too.
  19. Well it seems the project for a rehab did not work out. I see a Sign now (not Safari) but just says Motel. And advertises rooms rennovated from $69.95. So it's still alive. Not sure if the Phone number has chaged but I will get it and post it here for those interested.
  20. Somewhere I have a Picture (the old kind printed on paper) of his dog sitting on one of our sleds while Yvon is pumping gas in it. Just can not find it.
  21. Those were the days, back then before KM31 when it was not the Zoo it can be now up there in the Zec Valin. He was a super guy and the ladies were very friendly. Way too soon at 72 years young. RIP Yvon.
