  1. If I can throw a signal I will, if I'm not comfy with taking a hand off the bar, I don't. I know this is a QC discussion page, but just wanted to throw in what happened to me with both hands on the bar. Speaking of riding right...this happened within 35 miles on first day of my first ride at end of December. Riding around the Old Forge area from Stillwater Rez, came upon 3 guys coming at me. Passed the first guy ok, don't remember a hand signal, lol. 2nd guy just lost the front end of his kitty cat and crossed the trail right in front of me...no where to go, tried to turn as far right as I could, saw his wide eyes, heard the crunch and over the bars we both went! Luckily it was just a couple of busted sleds and a tweaked back(probably due to age) and some bruises. Could have been A LOT worse and I could have rode it out, but you see that drop of oil in the snow...cracked my oil tank. All experienced riders. He was the youngest of the group at 58. He felt terrible and immediately owned it 100%. I'm 55 and been riding for 30 years. First time I've ever had this happen to me and hopefully the last! It's not always the young throttle jockeys. Just a mistake on his part, happened in the blink of an eye. Finally picking up the sled tomorrow, ugh.
  2. Sorry fellas, fat fingers on the phone keyboard tonight!
  3. Hey Snowmaster2112, I hear ya, we used to go to QC couple times a year and if no riding here in NY, so be it. It’s been a while and I’m itching to get back up to the Holy Land. Love your posts and adventures btw. Also…fellow huge Rush fan! Cheers!
  4. Worst season here in WNY I can remember.
  5. Oh ok! So no waiting for paperwork or stickers to come in the mail. Thanks!
  6. It's been a number of years since I've ridden in QC. You used to be able to get passes at the motels we would stay at. Is that no longer the case? On-line is only option to purchase passes now? BTW, mid Feb and looking at grass here in WNY. Extremely depressing! Thanks!
  7. SM... Awesome! What a way to kick off the season. Im sitting here green with envy. Great pics!
  8. I guess I consider myself lucky on my trips to Maniwaki running the railbed or the big wide fast trails around Val-d'Or. It was sometime ago so maybe things have changed and they've tightened up. My ticket amounts would have been a nice cash influx.
  9. Loved the report, pics and this video. Hardcore ride and adventure! Cheers!
  10. Great report and pics! Might have to check out that area sometime. Would you recommend to bring the wife? She's not a novice but not one I would consider highly experienced either, never been to QC before and not one for 200 mile days. Looks like nice accomodations..?
  11. Hi PH, Thanks, very appreciated! Looking forward to getting back on the seat next season! Stei
  12. I used to live in Steamboat for a couple years back in the mid 80s, became acclimated after a bit. Well haven't been back for 30 years and took my wife there in 2014. Anyway, hooked up with an old friend who had a couple of old Polaris long tracks and I asked him to take me mtn riding. We went near the Winter Park area and some areas we rode were above the tree line. Completely different riding than here in the East and Canada, way harder! Well after I stuffed it for about the 4th or 5th time around 10,000 feet, I thought I was gonna die. But it was awesome!
  13. Hi Jeff and Sandy, Thanks much! Yeah, next year has to be better. I think I'll buy myself a new sled and trailer to start off the next season anew. Safe travels and riding to you both! Stei
  14. Hi Chris, Awesome...that's why we head North right! I love Valdor...wide, flat and fast with little to no traffic! I've been there a few times and rode those trails. Always stayed at Forestal and did day trips. Friends I used to ride with got out of the sport and I haven't been able to get back for some time. Thanks for the well wishes! It's gonna be fine, things are looking positive. Love the Rush representation...been a fan for years!!! Sorry for posting a requote, I didn't know what I was doing, lol! As I said, I'm a newbie. Have a safe ride!
  15. Hi folks, Newbie here...first post. This is the forecast for tomorrow and the rest of the week here in Rochester, NY...not exactly good for grooming and riding! More like firing up the grill and throwing on some steaks after work. Wish I could trailer up to QC...but finished 8 mos of chemo recently so not in the cards for me this year. Was able to get one day in here in WNY between treatments early in this season, but looks like it might be over around here. Gotta get back up North next year...miss it! I love reading the reports and seeing the pics...cheers to some of you guys doing off trail saddlebag trips and doing 200-300 miles per day...hardcore! If I can't ride, at least I can read about your adventures. Safe riding everyone! Hope all your trails are fresh powder or smooth and groomed. Stei
  16. Been a few years since I've been up there, stayed at the Forestal and I think we got passes right there.
