  3. indeed Bill....you were in the right spot......have a good summer!!
  4. You were right about Ptarmigan. I saw on tv a program about fishing and hunting in french here in Québec. He had two mounted as display. White partridge and ptarmigan are the same bird. He did mention Chapais-Chibougamau and st-ludger de milot with some population.Even as far south as Ferme-Neuve. Haven't seen any myself during winter time while sledding and it is my playground. Ptarmigan(those in question) in french is: lagopède des saules
  5. great stuff.....now they will get Quebec addicts!!!
  6. thanks for your feedback. We rode over 400 miles last friday and saturday around Maniwaki-Mont-Laurier,Chute Saint-phillipe,Sainte-Anne du lac,Baskatong,JB Scott,Lunic,Mekoos. Trails were in top shape for the most part.
  7. it`s not tabernack but Tabarnac!! swearing in french.....well our french. ask Towing or Groomer, they know what I am talking about :)
  8. trails west of Maniwaki (308 north of lac cayamant, local trail around Black Rollway area and 322) are the best trails in our area. I can`t speak for Waltham area as I never ride in that area. Last time I rode 308 towards Fort-Coulonge was in 2005 on our way to Rapides des Joachims. I know for a fact that 308 has been relocated a few times over the past years. Would be appreciated to have some feedback if You venture in that area.
  9. Pavillon du Black Rollway is located on the local trail (orange trail) between 308 and 322 in the eagle forest west of Maniwaki. it`s a relay. gas and food available
  10. yes it`s open.....saw the intersection on 308 north of lac cayamant last sunday. Haven`t rode it this year. I don`t know about conditions and mileage but here's 2 links http://club-motoneiges-oursblancs.com/Default-e.aspx http://www.motoneiges.ca/actions/showClubConditions?page=sen&cid=185 gas available at Black Rollway Pavillon
  11. welcome aboard Magnus. I live in southwestern Québec in the outaouais region. You will enjoy this site.
  12. the one and only place http://outfitterlaverendrye.com/ chibougamau - relais 22 is very close to 300 miles.
  13. I agree with you Towing, major improvement trailwise on TQ 63 in the Réserve faunique Rouge-Matawin between relais rouge-matawin and the south gate (La macaza) since a few years. much faster. Like the new pub next to the gas station. This place has been thru renovations.
  14. Just in case some of you are planning to ride on TQ 63 in western Québec.......I saw this http://www.abitibi-temiscamingue-tourism.org/snowmobile/trails-condition/ http://www.clubtroutlake.com/ this is quite an early closing to say the least!!
  15. Yes Tom.....if it becomes reality, more options for us...I must admit the twisty portion northwest of La Doré is not my favorite trail. We will have to wait and see. I highly doubt it would be funded by FCMQ but we never know. it's the god damn wind coming in directly from Siberia....was it ever cold out of scierie 54 that day!! My oh My!!! Locals told me they are white partridges.....they migrate south during winter time for food which is more available for them.Once spring comes around they will head north. Rich....I'm always up for a cold one!! you are correct TB.....a trip where gas mileage was very good.
  16. I don’t have the patience to put up a trip report in full details anymore but all I can say is the trail network in Québec is in good hands. I am back behind my computer with 1540 miles under the buckle. It was a very cold trip this time around.Too cold to take tons of pics unfortunately. - Got checked twice the same day feb 6th by cops near Val d’Or and Rouyn-Noranda. Ownerships and driving licenses. - Got checked again near Val d’Or on Sunday the 8th. - Abitibi trails rocks as usual - Témiscamingue area also - Samething with Chapais-Chibougamau area. - Saw something for the first time on TQ 93 north of Miquelon: White partridges. - Thin around St-Félicien - Grooming issues around Latuque. Lack of snow??? I don’t think so but rocks here and there upon the trail. Maybe they are grooming with the blades fully displayed. - the only rough areas were north of Le Domaine for maybe 15 miles until Rapid lake, north of Rapid 7 for maybe 18 miles, out of SMDS until Rouge-Mattawin relay.Otherwise trails were in top shape. We stopped at Chapais snowmobile club relay for a coffee and The person who operates this place is the president of the local club. He told us that there is a new trails in the works (project) to open a trail between Chibougamau and Clova(Pourvoirie Martin). Distance is 180 kms. While fueling up in Desmaraisville, guy told us Miquelon gas station might reopen this spring. BTW we ran into Snobeeler in LSQ and Scierie 54.It was nice meeting you Jay.
  17. Lépine road has been in red since the beginning of the season but now is showing up in green......looks like a trip up there in the near future http://www.coureurdesbois.ca/condition.html

  19. Val d'Or Ville-Marie(no riding on saturday) Senneterre Chapais Roberval La Tuque SMDS back to Maniwaki Need to find out if we can fuel up at relais du lac caché since we are bypassing Chibougamau and relais Barrière du nord is closed. Rich.......I don't want to hijack your post.
