  1. As far as trails go, once a few miles south of Montmagny it is great. Very scratchy going down to the hotel district, large bare areas going thru the areas/parking lots by the Cat and Doo dealers, same along the roadway where there is no trail. mike
  2. Hi Groomer, saw two of these new Holland tractors today. Curious of the advantage or disadvantage of having four separate tracks. One at Montmagny and the picture is where one was parked at a farm southwest of Montmagny. mike
  3. Unless we get snow, I would avoid trail 5 for sure. 35 and 55 were excellent couple days ago. On 35 after Tourville you will come to an ungroomed section, keep going, it is only 1/2 mile of ungroomed and then is fine again. I haven't been east of RDL. I believe Farmerold is staying currently in RDL, he may have more info. Calling for snow the next couple days. mike
  4. Linda, I sledded yesterday from Montmagny east to RDL and back around. Thin near town, they need snow, about 15 to 20 miles of thin coming across on trail 5. Returned on the middle and lower trails, 35 & 55, and all was good. Very warm in the area today. mike
  5. It was great catching up to Jack and Sandi and riding with them for a ways. Today went to RDL and St Pamphile, 300 mile day. Most trails good, but today about 50 miles needed grooming. Sugar houses are very active right now. Trail 5 about half way to RDL from Montmagny had some snirt here and there for 15 or 20 miles. Last 25 miles to RDL took the green trail to see the St. Lawrence views, it was good. From Universal Hotel for several miles is then and needs snow. Headed for a ways south on the RR bed then SW and west on trail 35. Once on the RR bed below RDL, snow depth was fine and trails great all the way back including trail 55 from St Pamphile. The closed RR bridge on trail 35 is now now groomed for only a half mile, earlier in year it was a few miles. mike
  6. Always a great way to start my morning, coffee and checking your wonderful pictures. mike
  7. Thanx Tom. Might have to go back and check on my firehouse pole tomorrow. mike
  8. New Favorite relais discovered yesterday. Walked in thinking it was a snowmobile club, ordered breakfast and it was good. Happened to notice a very small raised stage with lots of mirrors. Maine clubs have complained on HCS they have to put on bean suppers every week to raise money. Maybe they need to take this approach. Asked one of the 3 females working if I could take a picture of the stage, thinking I would post it for the Maine guys as a way to make money for trails. Next thing I know I am on stage with one of the ladies, much to the delight of the Canadian snowmobilers. When my new friend spoke to the crowd, all I understood her say is 'He's from Maine"! The crowd laughed! mike
  9. Did about 200 miles today. Went to St Pamphile for breakfast, trails were awesome. Caught up with Jack and Sandi at Tourville and rode with them for about 30 miles. Hit some trails in the afternoon that were good but very soft. Snowing hard this evening. mike
  10. Wow Dave, that's quite the deal. I briefly drove a friend's GSX 12 and loved it. The only thing that would stop me from buying one, besides not affording it, was the straight handlebars. All the other SkiDoos have the bend near the ends, and I find those far better. And anyone thinking of an Apex, great sled, just make sure you can stand the engine noise, some people can, some can't. Also couple friends say gas mileage on the Apex isn't so good if you are a fast rider. Nice sled though, just keep those two things in mind, whereas the Vector has great gas mileage and is far quieter. mike
  11. I will watch for you Jack, probably making a loop over towards RDL today, St Pamphile area. mike
  12. Arrived at Montmagny yesterday (Thuirsday) and it was snowing off and on all day. Group from New Brunswick came into the hotel and said there was two feet of recent snow at RDL. Rode west today for a 250 mile loop and conditions were awesome. All trails had been groomed last night, the entire 250 mile loop, like they knew I was coming. Even late this afternoon I was running into trails just groomed for the second time today. Started out dark and cloudy, then sun came out and gorgeous. Only thin area was Saint Marie for a few miles. Lot of snow in many areas that I rode thru today. mike
  13. Sorry I missed you RR, ended up going west today. Awesome conditions and smooth trails. Just a little thin thru Saint Marie and a few miles west of St Marie. mike
  14. Thanks RR, I just drove up to Montmagny today and it looks very promising. Haven't rode yet but hoping the groomers get out tonight and pack things down. Saw some nicely groomed trails on the drive up this morning. Hope we cross paths again, I'll be on the yellow blk XP. Staying at the L'Oisiliere Hotel in Montmagny. mike
  15. Sold it last spring 2012, prices were still high then. mike
  16. Anyone know the current conditions in the Chaudiere region? Even if you just drove thru in your pick up enroute to another area, hoping someone can say what things look like, good or bad. FCMQ is listing the area as good. Thanks, mike /?
  17. About 20 some years ago the (Maine) gov't screwed big time with businesses. The gov't spent millions on advertising our tourism. Talk about government interference and gov't intervention. Suddenly everyone came to Maine, including a lot of movie stars, millionaires etc. Hotels were built, these tourists bought land, built homes and camps, moved or started businesses here, made full production movies here. Suddenly tourism became Maine's largest industry. Linda, I do know what you are getting at, and I suspect most Mainers aren't aware of this new proposed law of fishing tackle. I hadn't heard of it til now. We here in Maine won't let you fish with a plastic worm, but we'll help you start your next business featuring fly fishing LOL. mike
  18. And Bosebuck sporting camps, also very popular snowmobile lunch spot in the winter.
  19. Grant's Kennebago Sporting Camps where we usually stay, pic of kids in front of a cabin and also can see entire camp complex in background. Kennebago is the largest 'fly fishing only lake east of the Mississppi.
  20. As promised, and totally out of season, Maine fly fishing sporting camps in the northwest corner of Maine. Pics of date night to Lakewook Sporting camp, dinner and night flight back. As promised, and totally out of season, pictures of nw Maine fly fishing sporting camps:
  21. Nice report and pics Dave. Always enjoy reports from that area. mike
