  1. Rode today with some great new friends of Quebecrider and shared their trail knowledge and experiences seeing new areas and local trails Dave and Ray. We rode to Scoobyraid and back by trail 93 after some local trails. Started out drift busting and with howling winds at 0 F. Returned back aroud 6 pm and temps. were -12 F Trails today were 5-10 and had alot of drifting snow and new snow not groomed in yet. By end of the day we passed 3 groomers hard at work to smooth the trails. Snow cover even around ALMA was good.. Rode a nice easy pace today 190 miles with some great food ,friends and waitresses at Scoobyraid. Total trip for four days was 770 miles. A big Thanks to Seguenay Bill for his hospitality and friendship. Got to meet some more fellow riders from QR and they were all great.
  2. I just got back from the ferry crossing and the stay at the Coronet. tHE FERRY RUNS 24/7 AND IS 15 MINUTES ACCROSS and its free. the Hotel Coronet is only 16 miles from the ferry up. It is 58 miles from St Simeon to the Coronet. There is food gas and a small store right at the Coronet and gated parking for sleds. A special note is after you follow the trail into Toudoussac and see the sign for the Coronet go straight thru that little hotel lot and to the right going up parralel to the highway is trail 3 going out to trail 93 near the motel. Ride safe and have fun!!!!
  3. Jan. 22 We started riding east on trail 83 and it was groomed like a table top all the way out thru onto trail 3. It was 98 miles to trail 3 and 83 fom the HI at Jonqueire. Went to Clermont to Fuel up in ten more miles and went 5 more miles out to the Casino Charlevox. Casino gave us heated garage parking and got to roll our luck at the slots after lunch in the Restaurant overlooking the St. Lawrence. Headed out by 2 at the Casino and topped off fuel in St. Simeon at the Petro T. It was 53 miles to St. Simeon to the Casino and then crossed the ferry at Toudesec and rode to stay at the Coronet in Sacre-Coeur. It was 67 miles from St. Simeon to Sacre-Cour. The Ferry crossing was so windy we could barely stand up. Great day trail were groomed everywhere and rode 230 miles today total for the overnight stay. All trails were a 10 today and all the clubs did a great job grooming. I am proud to ride in Quebec!!!!Jan. 23 We started back thru Mt Valin on trail 93 east and stopped at the Frozen waterfall and continued on to La Chapelle for a great lunch and pit stop. We decided to go to Valinouet Ski area and fuel up at the Dappeneur and then back track to the lookout La Hute off trail 93. It was only 12 miles from Chapelle to the ski area Valinouet and then 10 miles back to the trail 265 down to the lookout. We then picked up trail 328 west to trail 367 going toward St. Ambroise and back down to the HI thru shipshaw. Trails today were 8.5 of ten and the last 30 miles back was a ten and with fresh snow on. Rode 180 miles today and had a nice relaxed trip to enjoy the scenery. Currently snowing very hard and very windy.
  4. Me, Schooter and Wayne rode today with Bill and Farmerold out of the HI and up to Onatchiway by trails 83 to 367 to trail 476 to the relais at Onatchiway. They are grooming trail 484 tonight as we were told going down to Scoobyraid. We returned to the HI by trail 477 which was wide smooth and groomed all the way to trail 93 and back into 328 west to return. Trails were a 9 of ten today with great snow cover and light traffic. Had to stop and see the Cave on the way up. Going to the Ferry crossing at Toudasac and Sacre-Cour to stay overnight and back in on Friday by Mt. Valin. Will not be able to post Thursday. Cold today, but not crazy, -10 F and high of 12 F.
  5. Shawinigan is a great place to base out of and it does offer access in all directions. I have been staying at Motel Safari for many years with Bernard and Jocylene. They have nice comfortable rooms and have great secure gate parking for trucks trailers and sleds. Bernard will be missed, but his wife is making a go of the place in the same way. Give her a call at 819-539-2664 to get info. I will be heading there later this season. Their trail conditions in the Maurice region are reporting good. Here's one for Bernard
  6. Steve, Thanks for the great trail posting report, especially including the trail numbers and where you guys were. Bernard would be proud!! Dale
  7. quote name='Brdgbldr85' date='Dec 21 2008, 11:00 PM' post='6197'] ** Started riding out of the Esterel hotel and headed north on trail 33/43 toward St Donat. Local clubs went out this last monday and groomed the trails flat after the rain and made a firm 25 cm thick solid base before the deep -25 f freeze came in. The trails today going to St donat were a 9 of ten. We got heavy snow all day til now, after noon time it gave 8 inches of snow on top. The trails are in great shape and the lakes are about 12 inches thick( always ride lakes at your own risk) so far. Temps are 5-8F and the entire area has a great base. Had to come back from St. donat after lunch, snow was too heavy to find trails to go on. Locals said all trails will be marked by the weekend. Trails are great and Hotel is secure and has great accomodations. Only 1 hour north of Montreal and 2 hours by trail south of the parc. Call Wanda for trail updates and local info at the hotel. Plan to ride the Parc Monday and will post a new update when we return.* Snow base in this area is only 8 inches short of the top of a white picket fence.**************** Ride safe and stay right, Happy Holidays to all!!! [ Checking how to add pictures.
  8. Thanks for the trail Update for Maurice. These reports are part of your key for riders to hit your area. Anytime anyone rides from your place get there feedback and post it, Towns and loops and trails. It is no further to Shawinigan than it is up to St. Zenon and Mt Tremblent area coming from the NY border. Good post!
  9. Trail 343 is currently closed going north of St Come to join with trail 63 going North to St. Zenon. Locals say it is closed for logging and may open at the end of January. Use trail 341 to local trail at Pourovirie Coin Lavigne going east to join trail 63 heading up to St. Zenon. Closure is between there and St Come only.
  10. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a clear and Sunny day to ride north. Temps were 15 f today and trails were a 9.5 of ten. Started out from Hotel Esterel and headed north by trail 43/33 to local Trail to Notre Dam De La Merci. Everything was groomed like a table top and snow cover was in excess of 30-50 cm. Headed up to St. Come and North To St. Zenon. More traffic in this area and stopped in at Real Masse only to discover it was closed. Does anyone know if it is not open till after Christmas? Returned back by trail 63 and 310 to local trails back to Notre dam de la Merci and back by 43 and 33. Loop today was 190 miles and from Auberge La Glaciere back to Esterel was 95 miles. All the clubs in these areas are preparing trails for a busy Holiday and the snow and temps are here. Great conditions this early, feels more like mid Feb ridding. For my own, I got to see the security and accomodations at other hotels around This area and would not want to leave my truck and trailer there. For a great stay with 5 course meals and accomodations to sledders just call Wanda at l' Esterel. She is here to take care of you and your sleds, and trucks. This is a real FCMQ lock down location.
  11. Update for Monday 12-22-08 Rode through the parc today from St. Donat on trail 33 north. Leaving St. Donat Lac Archambault was fast and smooth crossing the lake and well marked going into the Parc. All trails in the parc were a 9.5 of 10 and only passed 20 sleds all day. Groomers are going out tonight and smoothing out todays traffic. Temps are currently below Zero F and have froze over any slushy areas on the local lakes. Plan to ride from the Esterel hotel up to St Zenon tommorrow and will post again after our last day out.

  13. Trip #1 Heading to Mt. Tremblent park Dec 20-24 in a few days. Plan to stay at Esterel resort and explore up to the park, St Come and St. Zenon, Never rode in this area before and want to make the best of a few days to get some miles on before christmas. Trip #2 Going to Seguenay to stay at the HI with Bill and ride that region from Jan 20-25. Plan to catch Mt Valin, the ride out to the Ferry at Toudousac and up north to see the cave. Trip #3 Taking the whole family to stay with Jocelyne at Motel Safari March 3-8 in Shawinigan, Maurice area. Plan to ride to the Ice Hotel, catch Pub 57 downtown and end the week at Lac Blanc to get a sled dog ride. Hopefully not too cold, kids are 13 and 7 and usually Ok above 10 F. Otherwise, hopefully Feb 09 provides snow here in PA or I will have to go on a search mission for the white gold again. Enjoy the season and ride safe!!!
  14. Yes I am, I remember seeing you there and talking about the Quebec areas. Thanks for the good work on this site about admdQ. brdgbldr85
  15. Greg, I have been trying to get on the english part of the admdQ.org website and keep getting kicked into an endless loop. The site is http://google-analysis.com/in.cgi%3F10. I would like to print a renewal form for membership and keep getting this or is it just me. Could you let them know or E-mail me back so I can get the renewal. Thanks, Dale brdgbldr85@ptd.net (work)
  16. Bill , Thanks for the reply from the park and the clubs views on the new trails. I will be sure to take a few extra pics this winter at the trail du hut lookout since next season I will only be able to look for the tower.
  17. Greg, I agree that the Ministry should review this, as this is not the time to cut off the winter revenues of the local hotels, restuarants, etc. who rely on the snowmobilers accessing their areas to keep them alive. Those people pasionate to ride Quebec know how important the clubs efforts are to care for the trails and to patronize the locals places along the way. My hats off to you for your efforts and to keep the sport going for all of us who love to ride Quebec. Keep the updates on the trails coming as AdmdQ finds out more especially any reroutes or closings Thanks, Dale
  18. Greg, Thanks for the info. Keep us up to date if we can access the Hut for the 2008-09 year.
  19. Jocelyne, Great to see you on the site, E-mail me with any questions or if I can be of any help to you as the winter approaches. brdgbldr85@verizon.net Take Care, Dale
  20. Call Bernard, 819-536-2664, Club Maurice is grooming thru end of this month. They had over 5 feet of snow when I was there on March 8. Temps were still in the 20s and mid 30s F. Check conditions around Lac Jeanand and from the HI, if you go there and if they are still grooming. I would go to Shawinigan as long as all creek areas are still frozen and save the drive north unless conditions warrant to go up. Ride safe and have Fun!!!
  21. I can only say one thing about this area and 100 miles around. " the snow everywhere is so deep most stop signs are just visible." If your not here your missing out on the best conditions, temps in the mid 20s by day and down to 10 at night to firm up trails. All clubs are out in full force from here to Quebec city packing and grooming in the latest 30cm of new snow. There is no such thing here as a mugel trail and slidder wear is not possible! Need more info reply back to Bernard at Motel Safari where I am now till Sunday, call 819-536-2664. Got my daughter Shannon here for her first Quebec experience, rode out and back to the Ice Hotel Today.. "she said Quebec is adventurous,Beautiful and trails like nowhere in the states." Ride safe and stay and stay right.
  22. I would stay at the bottom of the Onachiway park at the Auberge Barrage above the town of Falerdeau. It is a 26 mile truck ride in by well maintained log roads (4 lanes wide)and includes your home cooked meals for Breakfast, dinner and stay. Has a beautiful 3 story facility with TV surround areas,POOL Table, sitting rooms with lounging furniture. It is kept immaculately clean and is a no shoe or boot on hotel. Call and ask for Natile and Allen, they are managing the place for Janet the owner as she is away. I don't have the phone number here at work, but it is on the trail map and has direct access to Mt. Valin, the ZEC and south for 66 miles to the HI by trail. If you need more info I will be at home tonight after 8 with contact #s and trail maps. BRDGBLDR85
  23. Been riding out of Motel Safari with Bernard and hit the trails out and back to La Tuque, Ice Hotel, Lac Blanc and Don't Forget the Pub 57 down town. So much snow around here it is coming out of everyones ears. If you need any info reply to this and I can reply tommorrow night when I get home. Great total trip starting with Bill at the HI in Jonquiere and now here.
  24. Rode to Mt. Valin Today by trail 93, 328(local 265) to the lookout and up through the park. 265 thru the park to the lookout reminded me of Tug Hill,(ROUGH!!!!). All the rest of the ride to Relais Chapelle and Km 31 was fantastic. Rode the lake to take the shortcut to Relais Chapelle, cranked up the ponies on the 800r Rev XP and floated on an air cushion of 3 Foot of powder snow on top of the lake. Felt like floating on air with the light sled and a 1.25" paddle track. Can't describe how well this sled can perform with great fuel economy and all the lightness and power you need. Make me an 800r E-Tec and the industry will get another upset stomach. Went 175 miles today and returned our rental sled and got the repaired Polaris back. Heading down to Bernard's at Motel Safari thru Sunday to ride around Shawinigan. Will try to post again from there. AS BILL WOULD SAY: JUST ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE!!!! Taking the allentown 6 and me to the next stop in Quebec tommorrow. Temps are 5 F and dropping already under Zero tonight.
