RoadRunner Posted February 25, 2018 Report Posted February 25, 2018 With our Adventure riding mentor , Team Maine’s , Early rider, getting ready for the 2000 mile Cain’s Quest Race in Labrador this week, we decided several months ago that we would return up the White Road and meet Rob at the check point in Lanse au clair. At this point he will be 1335 miles into the race and has a 12 hour layover in Lanse. We have a big crew of 9 making the run, including 3 QR members, 603, Trailblazer and yours truly. Several of of us are leaving Forestville for Sept Isle this coming Thursday, meeting a few more in Sept Isle, than making stops in Havre St Pierre, Chevery and onto Lanse au Clair Labrador. Weather and mechanical issues permitting 😋 This is a trip similar to last year with the exception, that we will be returning back down the White Road after the rendezvous. TB, 603 and I will update as our trip unfolds. Here are some links to the Cain’s Quest Race, they have a great tracking system to allow those interested, to follow the racers progress. Happy Trails RR http://www.cainsquest.com/ iceman, 182ray, im4snow and 7 others 10 Quote

viper2 Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 That looks awesome RoadRunner, after doing our motorcycle trip to Labrador a couple years ago and seeing just how remote it is I have even more respect for anyone that attempts this race Quote

Truly an epic endurance run . It will be fun to hopefully connect with some of the racers in Lance au clair Quote
themainer Posted February 28, 2018 Report Posted February 28, 2018 (edited) Looking at the map to finish planning our Beaucville- Sept Isle then back via Forestville trip and I see this... Wonder if I can convince the old man to head further east? Edited February 28, 2018 by themainer Quote

snowmonkey Posted March 1, 2018 Report Posted March 1, 2018 Roadrunner will you be hauled from Havre-Saint-Pierre to Aguanish or will you ride that section? We are leaving next tue or wed from port cartier and heading to Blanc Sablon and maybe up to Lanse au clair and then return. Quote
Northbound Posted March 1, 2018 Report Posted March 1, 2018 Roadrunner, I think it was last year that we passed you as you were headed to the great east beyond, while we were headed to the safety of the west. Well I think it happened again today. We were the 2 sleds westbound towards forestville and I assume you were the group of I think 5 sleds going east.. I didn't thimk iceman was running with you but I could swear I saw an iceman sticker on the lead sled. Did someone get tagged? Haha Jeff and Sandy RoadRunner 1 Quote

First we got to get to Havre, hoping that goes well tomorrow, but after our escapades today, who knows lol, ( more to be posted on that) We plan to ride it snowmonkey, but we will see when we get there, it may be the carbide express if conditions requires it😉 Quote
603backcountry Posted March 2, 2018 Report Posted March 2, 2018 Northbound that was definitely us. Trailblazer was in the lead Quote
RoadRunner Posted March 2, 2018 Author Report Posted March 2, 2018 (edited) Well today was a what we called our shake out day, ....and that it was........they say things happen in threes. So in the last 24 hours , we blew a tire and fender coming up, busted a skid frame 30 minutes into the ride this morning and blew a motor in an 850 just outside of franquelin today. Trailblazer led a blistering pace and we should have been into sept Isle by 3 pm at the pace he was setting but sorting out the issues, towing sleds into a rescue point, tearing the skid out of one spare Freeride to go into another, caused lots of adjustments and replanning, but we are back on schedule for tomorrow! All in a days ride, happy hour, is always good, and we know Trailblazer will request wine for dinner, so all is well! Tomorrow we are off to see what we have for conditions for our run to Harve. All is well in a day of snowmobiling! Happy Trails RR Edited March 2, 2018 by RoadRunner GT Rider, momojohnny, Florida Snowman and 3 others 5 1 Quote

RoadRunner Posted March 2, 2018 Author Report Posted March 2, 2018 Well today was the one we were looking for, a great run from Sept Isle to Havre St Pierre. The entire leg of this section all had been groomed within the past few days. How could we have lucked out on that! No breakdowns! We made awesome time today on what can be a very time consuming and rigorous ride. A welcomed surprise for sure. The blue sky came out this afternoon and allowed us to lounge around the beaches of Longue point Mingan this afternoon and work on our suntans! Our new recruit from our western run Alex, did a great job leading the pack today, we think he has earned his strips and is getting the nick name RoadRunner JR. Chez Julie’s tonight for a seafood dinner and onto Chevery tomorrow, conditions and mechanical God’s all willing! Happy Trails RR Scranton1, groomer, Phil 1 and 6 others 9 Quote
