ADMDQ update from Greg

I hope that everyone is as excited about the soon to begin season as I am.

As the American Ambassador of the Quebec Snowmobiliers Association (ADMDQ).

I wanted to bring fellow Quebec riders up to date as far as the actions and activities of the Association throughout the Summer with a brief post.

Many Quebec riders have already become members of the ADMDQ, for those readers please excuse this brief history for those who may not be familiar.

The non profit “Association des Motoneigiste du Quebec” (ADMDQ) was formed by devoted Quebec snowmobiliers in 2005 in an effort to give snowmobiliers an active and unified voice in the preservation and protection of our sport. While the FCMQ coordinates, funding, memberships, clubs and trails the ADMDQ is much more of a lobbyist and informational action group which devotes its’ efforts to gain positive media publicity and positive outcomes when our sport is negatively impacted by events and or actions of non friendly groups. Whether at a local club, community or provincial government level, the ADMDQ goal is to be current on issues affecting snomobiliers and prepared to defend, protect and promote our interest.

Many of the Associations positive efforts and outcomes are never known while many like the positive outcome achieved during the Agricultural producers proposed trails closures of 2006 were widely publicized and known.

Current ADMDQ efforts have been centered on the protection of the continually threatened snowmobile trails located within and near the various provincial parks including Mont Valin in the area of le Hutte. These areas are among the most beautiful in Quebec and many would have us banned from their enjoyment forever.

The ADMDQ is also being proactive in addressing and promoting future funding mechanisms and efficiencies for both continued and increased trail maintenance, as many clubs are finding themselves in crippling crisis due to increased costs and decreased volunteerism. Efforts include the promotion of future increases in registration fees being dedicated specifically to trails, an increased government participation in contributing to trail funding in more substantial support and protection of the huge economic impact that snowmobiling has. Other initiatives include the promotion of a more competitive bidding system for obtaining trail and club insurances which could save significant monies which can be further directed towards trail maintenance.

We have seen the negative impacts of, skyrocketing expenses, private property closures, decreased volunteerism and negative impact of special interest groups here at home. These same issues and affects are now increasingly hitting the mother land of our sport.

I find the Officers and regional Directors of the ADMDQ to be articulate, intelligent, dedicated, energetic, very well plugged in to all the right places and armed with thoughtful supporting data. These people are snowmobiliers in the highest sense.

My role as a very poor french speaking snowmobilier is obviously minimal to the action and success of the Association, but I do understand the importance of having our voices united and I was willing to promote the ADMDQ to Quebec riding Americans.

This group has welcomed the support of the American snowmobile community and my feedback, experience and point of view. Alone all we can do is bitch at the bar after something is lost or gone forever. As part of the ADMDQ we can add our support to solutions, protections and preventions, ahead of the problems. It seems to me that the goals of the ADMDQ should be ours as well.

The ADMDQ membership is $10 annually and the goal for the 2009 season is to surpass a membership of 5,000. Consider joining the ADMDQ by visiting the English section of admdq.org

I will continue to give activity updates throughout the upcoming season and will answer any questions that you may have as time permits.

If you happen to be at the huge recreational vehicle show in Quebec next weekend 10/17,18 &19 you can visit the ADMDQ at kiosk 805. I’ll be there on Saturday

Thanks for reading. :good:

Great to see so many Quebec riders making their plans for starting the season.

Another increased initiative for the AdmdQ for the 2009 season is offering snowmobiliers greater access to information on weather and trail conditions throughout the Province on the AdmdQ website.

While most of the extended info on the site is in French, we can all get the idea of what is being reported, plus we may even be able to brush up on our French.

Trail reports by actual snowmobiliers will also be sponsored by the AdmdQ and be broadcast on radio stations throughout Quebec. The most recent addition can always be heard via a link on the AdmdQ site.

Check it out and add it to your sledding favorite places if you find it helpful

Gutz,

I believe that the auto renew of current memberships occurs at the begining of October. My current card indicates that it is valid until Oct 1, 09. Let me know if you need anything. They are really happy to have the participation of Quebec riders like us. :clapping:

I think that the new "trail conditions" information on the AdmdQ site will be a good resource. Thanks for reading the updates and for adding your support to the voice of Quebec Snowmobiliers.

Hi Greg, I tried joining online and it did not except paypal :unknw: so I printed the form and will mail it in.. Greg maybe you could shed more light on the air medic situation but I think Mr. Gutz is correct, from what I gather the agreement between ADMQ and AIRMEDIC ended as of midnight sept. 30th. It looks like they will honor the agreement for those who have already paid, such as a two year membership.

Based on my less than stellar translation skills, my understanding was that the Airmedic program as a whole was in a holding pattern and undergoing a financial restructuring. It was my understanding that this was the reason that it was no longer available to us.

I too read the thing about it being honored on existing AdmdQ memberships but did not completly get how this could happen. For those who had the 2 year membership, I will get further clarification and report back. I do know that current memberships no longer include the program.

I will also check on the difficulty that was experienced with paypal.

Renewal and new memberships are coming in nicely, but more are welcomed. I thank you for joining me in lending our support in defending the future of our sport.

Found what i was looking for right off. Here is the google translation of the Air Medic situation which was found on the AmdQ site with my notes in bold

The agreement between Air Medic AdmdQ and will end on September 30 2008 at midnight, all members who joined before that date or who have a membership card AdmdQ 2 years (ending on 1 October 2009 or the 1st ocobre 2010 if agreed in 2008 to join 2 years, remain covered by the Air Medic until the expiry of their membership card AdmdQ.).

Air Medic is currently under the protection of the bankruptcy law, more Air Medic has sold its two aircraft Dauphin, which means they have to rent helicopters to pouirsuivre their operations. The night flight is no longer possible according to the latest information we have obtained. (This means that a member who would need the service an hour or night will fall, can receive the service) (I belive this means no go at night)

In addition, Air Medic now demand ) asks for a contribution of $ 75 per person, they have ended all agreements with groups or associations. remember it used to be $25 directly through Air Medic

Accordingly, all members who subscribe to join the AdmdQ with effect from 1 October 2008 will no longer cover the drug in the Air membership card AdmdQ.

Members who wish to still enjoy the services of Air Medic can subscribe directly with them by paying the sum of $ 75 per person or $ 175 per family.

Hope this helps to clarify the current situation. It is a bummer, but I for one always thought this added membership bonus was too good to be true anyway.

The only option for new Air Medic coverage would currently be directly through Air Medic at their web site.

The AdmdQ is always making patnerships that can assist snowmobiliers in enjoying the sport. 2 such partnerships which could be of benifit to the Quebec rider community are

Le gite aux Tournesols (The "Sunflower Cottage" in english) located in St. Simeon in the Charlevoix region now gives a 10% discount on room rates (One night) including a hearty breakfast. To recieve the discount you must present your valid AdmdQ membership card at time of sign in.

Another participating partner of AdmdQ is Passion Quebec in the Monts Valin in Saguenay which also offers 10% discount to members of the AdmdQ on the night. Again, you must present your valid AdmdQ membership card at time of sign in or tell them about your membership at time of reservation and show them your card when you arrive.

http://www.passionquebec.qc.ca/

A few more bonuses for AdmdQ members. I'll continue to post updates.

Please give me your opinion

Should the AdmdQ be a pinned topic? Or

Should I keep adding to this post as AdmdQ topics come up?

Should I start a new post when there is new information?

What is easiest and preferred?

-I think it should not be pinned, it helps me see if someone has added to thread.

-Even a new post with significant/new info is good, may get people to read it, become involved, instead of thinking it's a rehash of old info.

Just my 2 cents.

This is an interview I did with Belle Des Nieges at the recent Quebec City show. Please forgive the bad quality of everything. This is only a podcast, not real pro radio. I just try to get good people talking about important snowmobile topics. I support the idea of this group, working together to protect our common interests. zw

I'm proud to call Belle des neige a good friend of mine. She is without a doubt a very talented rider and one of quebecs premiere snowmobilers. We all had a great time at the show in Quebec as well as promoting the mission of the AdmdQ

Lanie is the Director for the Association des motoneigiste du Quebec (AdmdQ) for the Lac St Jean/Saguenay region. She does a great job of staying aware and involved in issues and concerns affecting the practice of snowmobiling in her beautiful area of the belle province.

As I mentioned before, a further service to quebec snowmobilers in 08/09, the AdmdQ is launching a new trail conditions service on their web site. If all goes according to plan, this should be the best centralized resource for conditions throughout Quebec.

If you are like me, I have a patch work of favorite places saved to keep me aware of what's going on with conditions and weather in the various areas of Quebec. The AdmdQ site without a doubt brings needed information together in one place.

The page combines a clickable map formate which will take you to the area you are interested in, as well as current and forcasted weather, local club site links (if applicable) and links to regional the tourism associations for service and accomidation info. It is in French, but all of us need to get better at understading the language anyway.

Check out the format and get familiar with it before snow flies, I think that you will like it.

I have recieved word that the new trail condition information section on the AdmdQ website will also be shown in english on the english side of the site. Great news for those who want to better their french. You can read the conditions on the french side (which may often have more detailed info) then confirm what you think you inderstood by checking the english side.

The format of this information should be quite helpful to us. Let me know what you think. :clapping:

The AdmdQ site will soon contain a logo and link to Quebecrider.com :yahoo:

Greg,

I have been trying to get on the english part of the admdQ.org website and keep getting kicked into an endless loop. The site is http://google-analysis.com/in.cgi%3F10. I would like to print a renewal form for membership and keep getting this or is it just me. Could you let them know or E-mail me back so I can get the renewal.

Thanks,

Dale

Dale please try again, (were you the guy at Auberge Barrage in Onatchiway?)

I just went to admdq.org, clicked welcome to be directed to the english side, clicked the to join button located on the left side of the display, once directed to the membership page I scrolled down to where I was given a choice of joining by paypal (with auto renew) or to print out the form to mail in a new or renewal membership. It all worked fine, maybe some server glitch caught you at the time you tried. Please try again and thanks for joining us in creating a larger voice for Quebec snowmobilers.

On another note of interest, In an attempt to further serve the snowmobiling communities ADMDQ members with greater value, benefit and recognition, the ADMDQ has initiated a member discount program at participating hotels, motels and gites across Quebec.

These ADMDQ partners have added their support to the mission and recognition of the association by offering 10% discount to card presenting ADMDQ members. Currently 45 establishments have offered their support and discount. You can check for participating businesses by region by clicking the area of interest in the same way as you can check trails conditions.

When taking advantage of any discount, please acknowledge their support of the ADMDQ.

If you haven't gotten familiar with the layout of all the available information on the ADMDQ.org site, you better get to it! The Snow......she is a coming

The membership lodging discount program has really taken off. Over 80, yes 80 participating partners are offering added value to AdmdQ members. A great opportunity to save at some old favorites or adventure out to new places that are supporters of Quebec snomobilers.

You must present your AdmdQ membership card to receive your discount, so if you are not yet an AdmdQ member, get it done, so your card will arrive before your first mission. Most of the partner establishments will be displaying the AdmdQ logo at their entrances, look for it, as you may end up eligable for a discount that you were not even aware of.

Check AdmdQ.org for membership and the current list of partners, many with clickable links to additional information. Places like Universal in RDL, Safari in Shawinigan, Passion in Mont Valin and about 80 others. Cool :good:
