Sad news on the 345 trail last night, RIP groomer
quebec bob replied to snowmaster2112's topic in General Discussion
We all know this is a dangerous sport and an accident in reality can be waiting for any of us around the next turn or over the next hill...even in the best of conditions...so a little alcohol...darkness...or being alone is a risk....I put the accessory led lights on my sleds...just for the purpose of the chance of being on the trail after dark at days end....2 years ago on the north shore of the Gaspe it saved our life's when we were able to see 2 moose in the trail at 8 pm...that we otherwise would have run into...I certainly have done my share of night time riding...especially when we were young kids and rode after school or work...there's an old saying...by the time you are old enough to know the right things to do...you are too old to practice them...this doesn't make any of what's happened better for the families involved...but hopefully it helps those of us still practicing ...to make the right ...or better choices...may his family and friends soon find peace. -
We have a foot coming in the next 3 days in the northern corridor.. not enough to fix it but a good start and it’s looking cold… you might be right about 2 weeks… what will it be like in2 weeks.., not funny this time!!

Never rode Ontario.., but I certainly wouldn’t rule it out if that’s what it comes to
-
Just before the covid shut down I rode from 83 up to Gouin and we rode to Obe across the reservoir testing out the capabilities of the expedition extreme...it was like the north pole out there....sad to see such a drastic weather change in such a short period of time...Do Not Pass Up the opportunity to ride in the future...our days of riding when ever we wanted where ever we wanted are looking very limited
-
You are close...Glad to see someone has been able to ride...hopefully we will all get some seat time...before February!!
-
Yes this weather is killing skiing, sledding , bird hunting, snow shoeing, basically anything winter sporting outdoors...including all the hotels, restaurants and outfitters...im beginning to hate looking at the long range forecast...ski areas in Massachusetts are being cremated.
-
I've been trying not to think about the weather...reality is its another late start...#%^@*&!!...More driving time is becoming necessary to get to the good snow
-
Out on the trail saddle bagging, between transportation, trail pass, food , fuel, lodging, oil for your 2 stroke...a couple drinks at the bar....you better plan on 500$ daily...throw in an extra day due to weather...or a sled maintenance issue...we were living a dream 10 years ago...now you have to pay for it...just like any other vacation....and the costs are comparable...unless you are taking your family to Disney World...then you better double it...work hard then you can play hard
-
Yes its a shitty weather rainy icy weekend and I should be sledding or bird hunting and the weather is ruining it!!
-
I remember it being 152 at one time and use to wonder how anyone could stay in business at that price… we were spoiled… the world has changed… only deals left are for illegals
-
they should sell sled stickers for sponsorship dollars...a lot of people would proudly have that on their ride
-
I’d love to ride in that… it’s a great tribute to our sport and everyone who has worked tirelessly over the years constantly improving the trails, lodging, and local economies … it’s a great honor to be selected for that

My good friend retired as a federal appellate court Judge...he said the thing he learned most in his career was...you haven't see a good liar...until he has been prepared by a good lawyer...where ever their is money...somebody is tring to steal it....yes very sad that this could well be a high hurdle to get past

Without a doubt one of the kindest souls I ever met

Happy Holidays to our entire community and their family’s and best wishes into the new year… here’s to a great season, Bob
-
Even with zero traffic and perfect grooming you guys managed to stay on the right side of the trail...unfortunately that's about to end...great report...thanks for the pics...things look like they are coming together nicely...wont be long and the network will be open for saddle bagging...happy holidays!!

It's still around on the net somewhere ..Bernard with the guitar in the front room with all his guests...He was one in a million and a very large part of the fabric and hospitality that has helped make sledding so great in Quebec...for those that never met him...it's just something you may well never experience...and on top of being a complete gentleman...he would do anything for his guests...We use to go into town and eat dinner with him at his favorite restaurant ...I will never forget him...he was a great ambassador to the sport .

It’s a tough job running white concrete… no suspension needed!!

Enchant the world of aviation???
-
It’s truly amazing all the advances over the years and every new sled gets better… I had a day riding a Polaris 650 matrix … it hasn’t gotten the respect it deserves.. the chassis and suspension .., handling… it’s a magic trick… tremendous advancement.., and hopefully we will see more for many years to come

When Yamaha stopped supply the power… I had a feeling the days were numbered… but I do believe a stand alone operation in power sports with the cat brand has a good following…
-
I put 3 k on them on the expedition… I used the same ones that I put on my backcountry…. Which has 5 k on them… no issues of reliability put them on and forget about it

Lucky you 83 is a great ride!!
